Had my carpeting cleaned last fall. The hallway & a few other places look terrible! It seems like its gotten dirty looking fast. Not happy.

CASH STOLEN FROM MY HOUSE DURING AIR DUCT CLEANING. I recently purchased two services from Stanley Steemer (carpet cleaning and air ducts) and during the 10 minutes I stepped outside of my bedroom for the team to clean the air ducts in my bedroom, $170 was taken from a closed jewelry box on my dresser. I realized it within minutes of the team leaving as I had placed the cash, along with my phone, air pods, and other valuables in the jewelry box so they wouldn't be sitting out while I stepped out for them to clean the room and immediately contacted the number on my invoice. For the next few hours, I was transferred to multiple individuals at Stanley Steemer and advised that I needed to file a police report and the location Manager would contact me today following an inquiry with the servicing technicians. The West Allis location Manager informed me that he spoke to both individuals, and they have denied the allegation. Furthermore, he stated that because I have filed a police report (at the direction of Stanley Steemer) there is nothing further the company can do, and this is now in the hands of the police. I was hoping to avoid personally filling charges against the individuals, as they know exactly where I live, but will be left with no other choice but to do so, should I have to chase down corporate management further for this issue. I understand this is a small amount of cash, however, the fact that someone went into a closed jewelry box and took something out of it, while I was home, during a service I paid a lot of money for is something I cannot ignore. I partnered with Stanley Steemer because of their wide range of services and large corporate footprint, thinking I'm working with a trusted brand and partner, crossing off my "to-do" list and even purchasing additional services that I was excited to use, but instead I am now spending my time escalating nefarious conduct to the police, trying to get in contact with local management and being given the run around, and now spending my time taking it public. The time I have already spent on this is worth much more than what was taken from me, but I simply cannot ignore this gross violation of privacy and professional conduct from a bad egg in a massive corporation. I expect further action than a local Manager telling me "There's nothing further he can do". read more

Zero Stars. We got our vents cleaned while only my pregnant wife was home, and $170 in cash was stolen directly out of her jewelry box. We know this with certainty because she put it in there while tidying up specifically for them to come into the bedroom and perform the service, and it was gone immediately after. The $ amount isn't the end of the world, it's the invasion of our space and security and the total lack of accountability on SS's part after the fact. They suggested we file a police report, and we did, then they used that as the reason for why it's "out of their hands now". Thanks. We paid for various other services before this happened and want to cancel/get a refund for anything remaining and we have been given various different contacts for who is following up and are receiving no answers or call backs. read more

Stanley Steemer carpet cleaning and duct cleaning appointments give you a 5-6 hour appointment window, only to have them show up 5 1/2 hrs into the window and then take 2-3 hours extra to complete the job. Additionally, they change their appointment window and when you call the main number there's no way to contact the crew until they text you, if ever? Thus, we cancelled the duct cleaning. read more

The carpets in my house have been through a lot of tumult in the past three years, including four grand children, living with us, as well as our dog, who is becoming very old and very incontinent. To make a long story short, the kids moved out and the dog died. I was thinking about replacing the carpet, but decided to give a carpet cleaner a call to see if he thought they could be salvaged. The answer they gave me was yes, provided I use the deodorizer service that they provide which they said was very good on removing urine from the carpet. The technician who arrived was very kind and very knowledgeable and very helpful. After surveying the carpet, he felt that his cleaning in the other I think would be successful, and that the carpets would be in good condition. To make a long story short, the urine smell is worse than ever. Carpet cleaner, but my big concern as I explain to them was the odor. It was not removed as promised. I would suggest for general cleaning purposes, Stanley, steamer is fine. For anything beyond that, including odor, removal or deep stain removal, buy a new carpet. read more

I had Stanley Steemer out yesterday to clean three rooms and a hallway. When the technician arrived, I pointed out some soiled areas of concern (basic traffic area soil, nothing extreme) and asked that he give those areas particular attention. There was no application of spot cleaner. The technician worked very quickly and was finished with all areas within 20 minutes, which I felt was too fast given my experience with past carpet cleaning appointments with this company. I did not detect any issues yesterday while the carpet was wet, but today when dry, I saw the same soiled areas I pointed out for special attention. Overall, I see no major improvement in the cleanliness of the carpeting. I took a clean, damp white rag to a few of those spots today, and it came up very dirty. Photos attached. I'm giving a generous 2-star rating only because the technician was professional and relatively on time for my arrival window. HOWEVER, I give a 1-star for cleanliness, and will use another cleaning service in the future. Quite disappointed. I'd like my money back. read more

I have used Stanley steam before and thought they were pretty good. I will never use them again. Nor will I recommend them to anyone. They came to clean my carpets and my furniture and a rug. My furniture doesn't even look like it was cleaned. It was as dirty as before they even cleaned it. I work hard for my money and I don't believe in taking money for anything I didn't earn. Well, this man sure didn't have a problem taking the money I paid for having my couch and chair cleaned. Terrible. I was not home to check it out before he left but I guarantee they will never be back. I Had to clean my couch and chair covers myself even after paying him to do it. So disappointed. Lesson learned. The whole experience was disappointing and frustrating. They were to clean a few area rugs in my business. There was confusion from the get go, I was quoted one price and billed significantly higher. The person who picked up the rugs was utterly confused. However, the worst part is they said NOTHING and returned my rugs looking like this: Please see attached photo. Do not use, or waste $400 like we did - They did not vacuum prior to cleaning, and even worse left rust colored marks in the center walking path of my oatmeal colored carpet. After two cleanings in less than 24 hours they made it worse! My carpet never looked like this ever - or after being cleaned by other cleaning companies. I have called on three occasions asking for a manager so I can provide them with photo documentation of the horrible orange stains caused by their equipment, and most likely damage that they caused. My first experience with Stanley was outstanding. Therefore, I decided to use their services again. There was confusion on the address because I wished to use the New Berlin office which the corporate clerk MIsty Stomp said was not their customer base. I did not know this. On the day of my appointment she canceled it without my consent. This is very unprofessional and I wish the situation was different. Their workmanship is very good. Maybe Misty should go. So getting a quote was very easy - scheduling the appointment was also super easy and convenient. The gentleman who showed up to clean my carpets was very polite and very helpful although English was his second language and there were a couple times I couldn't understand what he was saying. I was getting ready to sell my house and getting the carpets shampooed was my final step before taking pictures and listing the house. ALL ROOMS were empty of furniture except the master bedroom which had a king size bed in it. I moved th ebbed for the cleaner and let him know I would move it back so he could finish, but he proactively moved it for me which isn't easy but was very nice. I have zero issue with the customer service aspect of it. What I take issue with is that the carpets looked great when the guy left. 6 hours later when the carpets started to dry - it was like they were never cleaned at all! EVERY FREAKING spot and stain showed back up!! and the little areas that get compressed by furniture, stayed compressed. I spent $300 for NOTHING! and because I had to wait for the carpets to dry (the cleaner said "12 to 24 hours!") before the realtor came to take pictures, it looks awful. And now I may have to spend ANOTHER $300 to get another company to come out and do it again. ridiculous. Don't waste your money - go with another company. read more

I will never use Stanley Steemer again. I booked their services online and entered my address as required, which included an apartment number. I indicated I needed a sofa cleaned as well as the carpets in 3 rooms and 2 hallways. When their crew arrived I was asked if I booked their services online and I said yes. I was told that when booking online the company couldn't tell that I lived in an apartment, and therefore, because they didn't have a mobile cleaning machine with them, I'd need to wait an hour until a "mobile" team could arrive. What the heck? So much for the convenience of online. Two mobile team employees arrived an hour later. The young man was named Nathan and I don't recall the name of the young lady but it started with an M. A couple days prior to their arrival I called the company to cancel the sofa cleaning, but was told to let the crew know when they arrived. Upon their arrival, I notified the crew that I no longer wanted the sofa cleaned, which left the 2 of them to only clean the carpets. After half an hour, the girl disappeared and I never saw her for the next 1 1/2 hours until she came to help take the equipment back to the truck. I had asked crew member Nathan where she went and he said he wasn't sure but thought she went to their truck to charge their tablet. After he finished all rooms, Nathan stated that there was quite a bit of hair on the carpeting and he would come back to "rake" it. Nathan got the tablet to add up my bill and was having trouble because it was extremely low in power. If his colleague was charging the tablet, why wasn't it charged??? Before paying I confirmed that he was coming back to rake the carpet and he assured me he would. After I paid, and strictly out of habit having worked in the service industry, I gave him a $20 tip. Now I ask myself why the heck did I do that! After taking the tip, he walked out the door and I confirmed with him again that he was coming back. That was the last I saw of them! I continued waiting, wondering when he was coming back. Since I'm in an apartment building, I couldn't see if their truck was still there. Basically, they took my money and blew me off! I will never use Stanley Steemer again. And, to top it off, the carpets didn't have that "just cleaned" look to them. Very bad experience for my money. read more

Overall very unpleasant experience. Specified exactly what needed to be done on the phone to the scheduler, quoted a price of $692.33 to explicitly clean a 200 sq. ft. home with (2) rooms carpet, rest wood, and (3) pieces of patio furniture. Tech flashed (3) bottles of cleaning solution to me when he was wrapping up, I assumed they were just left at the location after such a clean. Although never propositioned to purchase, these were on the invoice. During cleaning, it was recommended to deodorize/protect carpet, which I consented to. Tech finished, bill was $1350.94, about double the quoted amount. Spoke with one manager, sent initial photos of the work done. No reply, not even acknowledging receipt. A second manager contacted me a week later and came out to review work, and promptly dispatched the same individual to re-clean the cushions, which made for an incredibly uncomfortable position for both me and the tech, who basically wanted to know, again, what was unsatisfactory about the original services rendered. I shouldn't have to show and explain this to both the manager and the original tech, again, within a few minutes of each other. Still have not received the reconciled bill which I had asked for from the FIRST manager, roughly a week ago. Bottom line, I now have way too much of my time invested in what should have been a fairly simple and straightforward scope of work, and Stanley Steemer sitting on the delta of the disputed amount for a week, when I had asked the original manager if something could be done rapidly about the discrepancy where I was charged for a sofa and chairs, rather than simple patio cushions. read more

Date of Service: Nov. 21, 2019. I hired Stanley Steemer to clean my carpeting. I moved everything (except a floor lamp in the family room) in order to make it easier for them to clean. Not only were they 2 hours late, but one of the technicians moved my floor lamp and put it in a precarious place (near the refrigerator in my tiny partial basement). They never told me that they had moved the floor lamp and where they had put it. After they left, I went to get out a bottle of water (I did not see the floor lamp), and the floor lamp fell over. My husband decided to try and repair it, but the insides were broken as well. I looked online to try and find a replacement floor lamp, but was not successful, and the floor lamp was a match to my table lamp. I had to purchase a different floor lamp and it was expensive ($200). I notified Stanley Steemer Customer Service about what had happened. I wanted compensation for the floor lamp and they told me that they were not liable for it. I had talked to 3 different employees there (2 managers and 1 customer service person). The first mgr I talked to said, "What do you want me to do about it?" The second mgr also told me that they were not liable. After telling this mgr "Do you want to lose me as a customer?" He finally said "No, so the best we can do is send you a $60 Visa gift card". I told him that as long as it is a Visa gift card and not a Stanley Steemer gift certificate, I would accept that, and he said that he would then contact the dept. that handles that and I would be receiving the gift card in the mail. Several weeks went by and I still had not rec'd it. I called the mgr. back and he said he would contact the dept. again. 10 days later I rec'd a Stanley Steemer gift certificate. I called Customer Service and talked to Mary and she told me that in all the 20 years she's worked there, the company has never sent out Visa gift cards. So the mgr. had lied to me, and Mary did not make me feel like a valued customer. She just continued to reiterate the fact that "Stanley Steemer does not send out Visa gift cards" and "the decision was made that they were not liable for the broken lamp". I have to say that Stanley Steemer's Customer Service lacks professionalism. I had used them over the years and I feel that they are no longer a reputable A+ carpet cleaning business. This last time was such a bad experience for me that I will never use their services again. read more

My dog pooped on the rug. As a dog owner, this is something you have to be prepared for. And in a sense, I was. I have Nature's Miracle cleaner under the sink, a Bissell SpotBot carpet cleaner, rubber gloves. But I was not mentally prepared. Long after I'd cleaned up the accident, I kept looking at the spot on the rug where I knew it had been, even though you couldn't see it. It haunted me. Things were starting to get a little Telltale Heart around here (The Telltale Turd has a nicer ring, no?) and I couldn't take it any more so I decided to have Stanley Steemer come and do a professional cleaning. Booking online was super easy and next day appointments were available (thank god!) They showed up when they said they would and were super friendly and professional. As long as they were coming to clean the rug I had them do a few other rooms too and I couldn't be happier with the results. Though I hope to never need to call them for the same emergency, I do plan on having them come out at least every 6 months or so (they have a package deal which seems totally worth the price if you have a pet or are just a slob). I am so happy that I am no longer afraid to walk around my apartment in bare feet. read more

A few years ago I went to the Breast Cancer Walk and Stanley Steemer was handing out free stain removal packets. I used the stain remover and was highly impressed with how well my carpet stains disappeared! If the packets could perform that well, I knew Stanley Steemer steam cleaning service would impress. Had my carpets cleaned for the first time, which was way overdue - 7 years! (2 rooms/hallway/stairs) My carpets were filthy and heavily stained from walking traffic, mostly dirt from shoes. After they were finished cleaning my carpets - the carpets looked BRAND NEW! The cleaners were able to remove every stain! The workers were also very pleasant and courteous to work with. It was basically the entire house except 3 rooms. Excellent job. Took 2 1/2 hours. Courteous and efficient. He got a rust stain out from a previous 'no name' carpet cleaner not putting plastic under a metal leg and other stains too. Our 30 yr old family room carpet (was expensive) looked so good I no longer want or need to replace it. I didn't tell him how old it was but he thought it was about 5 years old! We had researched best type of carpet cleaning method and truck mounted 'steam cleaning' was supposed to be the best. Stanley steemer fit the bill. We felt like we got a great value for our money. So appreciative of the great customer service and hard, hard work of Greg and Charles that I had to get on Yelp and write a review. Kindness begets kindness sometimes. They were up against a tough job of many different types of stains. I'm a mom of 3 young children and endure living with a carpeted dining room ("open concept") and a 3 year old that holds a penchant for mess-making, be it mascara used like a paint brush, lipstick as a crayon, or chocolate milk for the sheer desire of dumping it on the carpet rather than the kitchen floor. Welp, no problem for Greg and Charles- they took so much extra care... like didn't give up or have a negative attitude at all. They were super positive and had me check their progress as they worked. And on top of all that!- they were easy to talk to and were patient and engaging with my curious children when appropriate. They impressed me so much that I insisted on talking to their supervisor. Those emailed/online survey things don't often get acknowledged with due respect to the employees. I probably embarrassed Greg and Charles by talking to their supervisor on the phone, but I think often good experiences go unnoticed and are not rewarded. We talked for a while and he offered his suggestions re: what rooms we should do // the process // etc. We had Nelson & Gilbert as our cleaning professionals & they were fantastic! They arrived within the window and were very thorough and informative. They did a great job on our carpets, answered all of our questions and our floors look great! We hadn't realized that our dog threw up in one of the rooms as we just moved in - they got the stain out right away & the carpets look brand new. Good afternoon! I have a dog who has gotten into the garbage and taken it into the living room and an extremely messy teenager. We were moving out of our rental and I just knew I would get docked on my security deposit for new carpet it was THAT bad. The local cleaning company I had hired cancelled on me 2 days before I was scheduled. Stanley Steemer got me in on short notice even though I live in "the sticks". Josue and Dominique showed up and were the most professional, courteous and funny (yes funny!) workers. They let me watch and ask questions as they cleaned my living room carpet...really having to work hard on several stains. They did a FANTASTIC job and I get my full security deposit back! One thing that we noticed though was that it was wise to pay attention to what was being cleaned and what wasn't -- two people were working simultaneously in different areas and they took slightly different approaches (moving and going under furniture vs. going around). read more

Beware the fine print! I got a quote for 3 rooms, hallway and stairs for $177. The guys get there and I have 14 stairs and the service only covers 12!? Then the dining area that is 10x10 and part of the main room is considered another room. So, for an extra 10x10 and two more steps, it was an extra $100 buckaroos!! Now $277! The guys did an adequate job. Tough to say if I would use them again. read more

I hired Stanley to clean two sofas and a chair set. I deal vintage furniture and was looking for someone i could do regular business with. They did a decent job cleaning the pieces but kept trying to hard sell me on some overpriced fragrance treatment. I told them no three times! They circled back to me AGAIN trying to hard sell me on it, trying to scare me into it by saying I was risking the furniture smelling bad if I didn't get these extra services after cleaning. Like, if that's truly the case then your steam clean service sucks! Very sleazy tactics. Won't be using Stanley Steemer again. Disappointing. I don't recommend them. read more

Very disappointing. It was an extremely expensive service. Instead of $130/$150 for a shower stall, it cost $270.00 when the bathroom floor was added in. The floor was not sealed, though this had been in both online and in-person quotes. An addition to being "sold" the work on the floor, which does not look any better, I was repeatedly asked whether I wanted my carpet cleaned. Worst of all, with a $270.00 "professional cleaning," I notice little difference. read more

I am not one to complain about a company but I am extremely upset and dissatisfied with the Milwaukee Stanley Steemer. I requested my carpets to be cleaned. We have three bedrooms, a hallways and two half staircases. I wanted one bedroom to be deodorized and the hallways. The other two bedrooms probably didn't even need a cleaning as they are never used. I even typed specific notes indicating again I only want one bedroom deodorized. At the time of cleaning my boyfriend was present. Never once did they ask if we wanted to add additional services. They asked about us wanting the protection program for two years, we contemplated on it but decided against it (thank goodness!) Once the crew left I got sent an invoice and noticed they charged me for deodorizing all the rooms. I called and the lady I spoke with was very pleasant and noticed the error as well. She let me know a manager will call in 24- 48 hours. When the manager called I let him know of the invoice error. He let me know that error in on our part as we requested the additional service, which we did not. We were debating on getting those two room cleaned, so we definitely would not have requested it to be deodorized. The manager said there is nothing he is willing to do for me. Even though I was charged almost $100 more for services I did not want. He eventually gave me a $35 credit, but that is not even half of the additional charges they charged me. August 21, 2019 Earlier this summer, as we were preparing our house to look as pristine as possible for our son's wedding, I thought it a good idea to get two of our carpets (stairway runners actually) professionally cleaned. We'd used Stanley Steemer several years ago in our former home and were quite satisfied with the quality of the job they did. Little did I realize that the quality and reliability of even the most trusted names in service can drastically change in the 20 years or so that had elapsed since we last used this company. It started out reasonably enough...by calling an 800 number and talking to a representative that readily admitted he was based nowhere near our Wisconsin location. No worries! He could schedule the local SS company to come the following week and take care of steam cleaning two stair runners and an upstairs hallway. Since they were running a special on 3 rooms for a reasonable price, he assured me this was the best option. On June 10, the team, two young men - one who did all the talking and the other who, as far as I could determine, did all the work, showed up as scheduled. I showed the communicator what needed to be done and he quoted me a price that was somewhat more than what the gentleman over the phone had indicated. He stated this was so because our upstairs hallway was equivalent to not one, but two rooms....okay... Since we were pressed for time and needed to get this done before the wedding, I let it go and they (or I should say the one guy) proceeded to do the 3 areas. A couple of times during the job, the talker came up to me and quoted several different prices, some higher, some lower than his original, but all more than what the guy on the phone had indicated. When they were finally finished and packing up to leave, I asked to inspect what they had done. It was apparent that the hard wood on either side of the one stairway runner was still wet and I ask them to dry that before they left. The talker also pointed out to me that some "spots" had appeared in the upstairs hallway after the cleaning. He said this was sometimes due to the homeowner having used a product like Resolve. I assured him that this had not been done to our carpet and that it looked like a bleaching substance had been dribbled over a substantial portion of the upstairs hallway carpet. He indicated that sometimes this disappears after the carpet dries and as I had Googled the problem and found at least one carpet cleaner state the same thing, I wasn't too worried and paid them and they went on their way. The following day the spots, if anything, were more apparent and the carpet was completely dry. I placed a call to SS (going through the 800 number and leaving a message, etc, etc). Finally we did get a response and a second team was scheduled to return to our home to "fix" the problem. On June 15 the second team arrived, took one look at the area and stated that they could not fix it. They took some cell phone photos and said they were sending these to their supervisor who would be contacting us within the hour. Three days later we still hadn't heard back from them. From this point on, there was a series of missed phone calls, messages left, calls eventually returned by various managers, etc at SS. Bottom Line: The damage was not their fault and we must have done this dreadful damage ourselves to our own carpet. We turned the matter over to our insurance carrier who asked us to get an estimate of the damage ($5300.00 to replace the carpet). To date, SS has not communicated with us further, except to send out an "independent" inspector to do unspecified "tests" on the carpet, results of which he would not disclose. We were told to await a "report" that would be coming at some future date. Mind you it's now almost 2 and 1/2 months since this happened. The wedding has come and gone...a successful event despite the messed up carpet; and apart from having to explain to guests staying in the rooms upstairs that this really just happened and it's not our fault!, things went well. I might add that the finish on the hardwood on the one staircase was permanently damaged and will have to be redone. Moral of this story: Don't use this company for any job in your home and read reviews (I wish I had) before you pick a service provider! read more

I made an appointment at 9:30 yesterday, and they were here within about 2 hours. + Didn't have to pay or even provide a credit card number until after everything was finished. + The two guys were very professional and efficient. They explained the process, and let me check each room. They were chatty, but in a down-to-earth friendly way, not in a please-be-quiet-and-get-back-to-work way. Three rooms, from start to finish, took about an hour. + They were not pushy when we weren't interested in buying any additional cleaning services. + Carpets look great! They had not been cleaned before we bought our new home a few months ago....I did not know they were supposed to be this color. (Ew, right?) - Didn't realize how long it would take for everything to dry. Almost 24 hours later, and it's still slightly damp. Oh well, at least now I know what to expect. read more

This is by far the most unprofessional, unhelpful and unethical company I have ever been in contact with. Not only did they ruin our marble floor they refused to call us back when we complained. When they finally had no choice but to return our call they sent yet another unqualified person to fix their mistake which ended up causing even more damage. Then after an entire month of calling them to get our money returned they dodged our calls and ignored our messages. Finally, after almost two months they have finally agreed to reimburse us for the failed cleaning. Now, this is after we consistently called. This whole escapade has caused us countless hours of aggravation. I hope this helps anyone out there who is looking to hire this company. read more
