The guy opened a closed-off area that no one has been in since that bathroom was built. It would have been nice had he covered that opening back up but he didn't and now a feral camp of cats have crawled in.

I cannot recommend this company at all, as I have learned that it seems they really don't know what they are doing. I own and live in a house on the edge of a small lake in Illinois. On occasion, I do get flood waters in the basement, but I called this company primarily to check the quality of the foundation, as I had some floor sagging. They did install new beams and supports, which helped, but they also suggested a water-removal system to keep out the moisture, and I agreed because of the occasional flood. Both the salesman and the work crews saw that we were right on the lake; it was not a secret, but at the time of the installation, I had no water in the basement and had not had water in the basement for over a year. After the water-removal system was installed, it ran constantly, pumping water into the front yard every few minutes from a basement that had NO water in it previously. Very quickly, we had a front-yard swamp. I tried to speak to someone about the issue, but the manager I was ultimately able to reach (because no one would acknowledge my concerns until I threatened not to pay) was rude and belligerent, accusing me of lying and ultimately provoking a shouting match, which my wife had to interrupt in order to speak. TOTALLY unprofessional. Ultimately, my wife made phone calls in order to find out exactly where the water table was for our house and learned that the pump for this system had actually been installed INSIDE the water table. The rude manager I spoke to refused to consider having "an expert" check the water table, but it took her only about 20 minutes of time on the phone and no money at all to find out this information and later receive a copy of the report. If a representative of this company had been honest enough and knowledgeable enough to bother to make that phone call, I could have saved over $6,000. Do not hire these people. This company's representatives are, for the most part, inept, rude, and dishonest, interested only in getting the biggest check they can without providing a service worth that kind of money.

The…read moredisadvantage is that you will pay an astronomical price for that service compared to other providers with no guarantee they'll get it right. We had a sewer problem that Roto Rooter came out to "fix" and charged us $6,000. As it turns out, their fix did not fix it at all, because water continued to back up into our house afterward, which was a very stressful experience. Once they revealed the true issue, they gave a verbal estimate of $36,000 to complete the repair. I sought quotes from other providers, and ended up spending $10,000 for the same repair. I am so glad that I got other quotes first or I would have been overcharged by $26,000! I now feel it's very likely I was gouged for the first $6,000 job because the second contractor estimated about $1,500 for that work. They also left my yard looking like a wreck with rubble and rock left everywhere. If you can wait a couple weeks and go with someone else, your pocketbook will thank you.

We had a sewer backed up that my roommate discovered on a Saturday night. She contacted Roto Rooter to come snake the drain. They came quickly and had a young man come to clear the line. Supervisor Justin showed up quickly to look at the basement. He told us that the kid was not able to clear the drain and that they had to bring in a jet to clear it and a camera to look at the sewer lines. Justin also told us how serious the damage was and said that a crew would need to come in and basically "gut" the basement. Trying to sell us on their services, he said that his crew would come with hazmat suits on and rip everything out and clean it, and then sanitize it with some "chemicals." Another "supervisor" Brent also came out to the house that night and told us that we had a "belly" in our sewer pipe outside, and needed to have it replaced. My roommate had to get financed for this repair and was approved for $7,500 - which just so happened to be the amount of the repair. As a side note - we have ring cameras at our front and back doors and can see everyone and everything that comes and goes into our house. We decided to go with Roto Rooter to clean out the basement and to fix the sewer pipe. They come out 2 days later, the following Monday, to start the job. The excavation in the front yard was a nightmare. Brent told me where the sewer line was in the yard and showed me where they would be digging. 14 feet down and there was no sewer line. I work for the city that I live in, so I contacted our buildings/zoning department and got 2 different sewer maps and gave those to the crew. Both of these maps showed where the sewer line was. Brent, and another supervisor, Jordan, then had the crew dig another trench over 12 feet deep, in the wrong spot. A different man brought them so tool with a sensor on it that they could use to try and find the line - the device he brought was dead, so we had to wait for someone else to bring another one. After using the tool, they decided to try digging in between the two holes they already dug and finally found the line. They were not able to finish the job that day because they needed trench boxes/shoring and said they had to wait for them to be shipped from Chicago. The entire time they were digging they talked about how the ground in my city collapses very easily because it is very sandy - they also talked about how deep sewer lines generally were. If you already knew both of these things, why would you not be prepared with the trench boxes already? We had to wait an extra day because we got snow and the trucking company would not deliver the trench boxes. The crew showed up that next day and was able to repair the line. They again, were unprepared, though. They knew that they would need rock/gravel to put under the new pipe and did not bring any. They had to leave for 2 hours to go get the rock. The young man digging told us that he would try to get our yard back to the way it was as much as possible. Our yard looks TERRIBLE. I understand they don't grade the yard or reseed it, but they could have filled the holes back so much more than they did. Our entire yard is just a dirt pit. They also left our porch slab not stabilized - they didn't fill the dirt back under it so part of it is just hanging. They tore out huge chunks of the street at the end of our driveway and at our curb and left huge chunks of dirt and a bunch of the rock in the street. They did not clean up after themselves at all. We had also asked for a particular type/brand of back water valve to be installed - we paid $500 for this valve, which is supposed to go in the ground where they repaired the sewer line. The purpose of the valve is to prevent the city sewer backing up into our house if there is ever an issue. They told us that they were installing it and then back filled the hole without doing it. They told us that they were installing it in the basement. A few days later they came and installed what they told us was the valve we asked for. Days later when we asked for the invoice showing the cost and the brand of valve, they said they weren't able to get the one we asked for because it wasn't the right sized pipe for what they installed outside. They also said that the city inspector told them it was against code to install it outside and that it had to go in the basement. I watched on my ring camera when he was at my house for the inspection. No conversation was had AT ALL about the valve. There is more but I am not given enough space.

I was recommended this company by Merry Maids since I had litter everywhere and some cat stains throughout the apartment. The gentleman who showed up (didn't catch his name) was so super professional and amazing. He offered to lift or move furniture and answered all of my questions since this was the first time I had done this since moving out on my own. He took extra time to get the hard stains (spilled soda, sweet n sour sauce, cat stains, etc) and my carpet looks almost brand new. He explained in detail each step and worked well around me, my pets, and my furniture. Very professional and a great job done. He showed up between the two hour window that was given and was done before the window even closed. I would highly recommend this business to anyone.
