Incredibly disappointed…read more I've used Van's for more than a decade, purchasing not one but TWO furnaces from them in the past 10 years. Today one of my tenants (out of state) contacted me to let me know that the furnace was out, so I used Van's once again to repair the issue. When the Van's rep called she informed me that there was a $150 diagnostic fee in addition to the repair bill. I questioned this, as a diagnosis typically takes 5 - 10 minutes to complete, and when a customer has the work performed to complete the repair the diagnostic fee is usually waived. Not for Van's. They want EVERY. LAST. DIME. that they can get out of you. I then pointed out that I purchased two furnaces from them in the past 10 years and was planning on calling them again - not only for repairs such as the one they were completing now, but also for future purchases. I asked if I would be eligible for a "small discount". Van's denied the discount. Apparently they have no value for repeat customers who purchase multiple units from them. I then asked if they offered a military discount, looking to save maybe 5% - 10%, especially since I was already paying for a diagnostic fee on top of a repair. They still said "no", even though they "did" offer a military discount. The reason? I didn't "reside" at the property (again, a rental). Unbelievable. Needless to say, this is the LAST time I will ever be using Van's. Unfortunately, some businesses love to nickel-and-dime you to death and refuse to offer even the smallest of discounts to repeat and long-term customers, completely ignoring the fact that long-term customers are the reason why they're even in business to begin with. Van's is one of them. Never again.
