First let me say that everything up until the last few interactions was just great. I am going to write about my last interaction with Dobbin Dental Suite. I made an appointment for a routine cleaning. I made this appointment in October 2021 and they told me the first opening was in July 2022. I thought that was odd to wait that long but like I said I really liked the office and the dentist. So I waited. When I went to the appointment last week everything seemed normal. They even had me verify my insurance information that nothing had changed etc like always. So when I get in the chair for the cleaning at that point the hygienist tells me that my insurance is no longer accepted. And that my dentist, that I waited 9 months to get this appointment for, isn't there that day. I was like hold on a sec. I thought about it and I decided to respectfully walk out without doing the appointment. So after doing some research the office did take my insurance when I made the appointment. They told me that they stopped taking it and that the email that they sent me about my appointment reminder stated this but I went back and read it and I can't see anywhere that they mentioned that they no longer accepted Delta Dental. So I asked why didn't you mention this when I called in to verify the appointment, or when I came in and you verified my insurance. I didn't get an answer. I was just told that it said it in the email that they sent. But I looked at the email and no mention of not taking Delta Dental any longer and having to pay in full out of pocket. I'm sorry but I feel like I have to put this in writing so that other potential patients out there will see this.

I walk out and go to update my calendar for 9/14 appt and realize I will be out of town for a wedding. Walk back into the office and ask to reschedule and I am told they are booked until March 2027 and I now I have to call when I return from wedding to see if any one has canceled. So as existing patient I am no a stand by patient. I give you plenty of notice that I need to reschedule. May have to find another dental practice.

We talked at length about different processes, and he referred me to an oral surgeon, Dr Richard Nessif, for further evaluation. In the meantime, we began the process of impressions, measurements and models. This process took 6 months with many appointments to get everything just right. At each appointment, which was usually a minimum of 45 minutes, I felt like I was his only patient. He never left me sitting by myself, waiting for his return. And if he had to step out of the room, his assistant was there in case I needed anything. He took his time, never rushing, to make sure every aspect of the appliances were perfect. On the day of delivery it was obvious Dr Katkow is an expert in his field. The implants fit perfectly. His precise measurements have ensured a perfect fit and a very happy patient! Along with an outstanding experience I had with Dr. Katkow, his office staff should also be mentioned. They are friendly, welcoming, professional and helpful in making sure you get the appointments that fit your schedule. They are masters of scheduling since most appointment wait times are less than 3 minutes in the waiting room. If you need a complicated procedure, this is the doctor you want to visit. In every way, it was an outstanding experience.

I also had to go back because the bite was left uneven, which caused sensitivity and required additional filing (this is what the dentist explained to me). When it was replaced, I had to pay again because they said fillings are temporary, even though I've had fillings elsewhere that lasted 10+ years. The new filling has been sensitive for months, and I cannot chew on that side without sharp pain. Large pieces of food get stuck between my teeth, which is painful and uncomfortable. The way my teeth were filed makes chewing difficult and they look skinny and fang-like. The hygienist there even commented on how sharp they were. I gave them two chances to fix the problem, but now I have to go somewhere else and pay more to get it corrected. I do not trust this office anymore and would strongly caution anyone considering them for fillings.

they send a text message about a week before your appointment to confirm. if you don't respond,…read morethey automatically cancel the appointment and won't let you reschedule. they also charge you for the automatic cancellation. i work in a place that does not allow cell phones, so i didn't respond to the text. i missed the fact that my appointment was cancelled and drove to the office anyway, only to discover the automatic cancellation and charge. so i was charged even though i showed up on time for the appointment. make it make sense. this is such a bonkers policy, i have never seen it before. not only that but when i had a filling, they did not use enough Novocain because i was breastfeeding. according to my pediatrician, novocain is fine, and if i was nervous i could have "pumped and dumped" that milk. instead i was in pain the entire time. they also dropped a LIVE drill into my throat during the procedure. terrifying, the last time i went in for a cleaning, the hygienist scraped so hard i spat blood for the rest of the day. this was despite her saying "it's actually really clean in here! you are doing a great job!" i brush and floss daily. i woke up with a bad cold/cough/fever the morning i was scheduled to have three teeth filled (redos from their shitty work) and my entire mouth numbed. i called to try to cancel and was told i would be charged for cancelling late. this is wild, since i would be exposing everyone in their office to illness. at any rate, looking for a new dentist....

Upon arriving, I was told that they do not conduct exams and cleanings on the same day. I was not informed of this when I made the appointment. This has never been my experience and looks like they want to bill insurance for maximum payout. After the x-ray, the dentist Dr. Parsana came in, announced to me that I had some gum pockets and that I needed deep cleaning. I politely informed her that I had periodontal cleaning just last year and I am not interested in a deep clean at this time. She proceeded to criticize my oral hygiene routine without asking me what I actually did. I was brought to the front office staff who was rude to me when I said that I did not want a deep clean at this time but would prefer to have a routine cleaning and think about a deep clean down the road. The staff person informed me that they would not do a routine cleaning and I would have to book a deep clean for 2 appointments that would cost me over $1000 out of pocket. I told her that I was not interested and I would like a copy of my x-rays. She agreed to email me the x-rays and I left. I did not receive the x-rays. I called my insurance provider and made a formal complaint for the refusal to care and non-provision of x-rays. Patients have the right to decide what is in their best interest. It is not the dentist's prerogative to decide on behalf of the patient, and push them towards expensive procedures, even if they believe those to be in the patient's best interest.

When I called, they first told me I should call my insurance provider and get the codes for billing. When I called again, they put me on hold for 10 minutes and I hung up. I just paid them their money after they threatened to send bill collectors. I never got a call from them to schedule a dental cleaning or anything after my initial visit. The place is totally impersonal. It's like a factory and there is no concern for the patients. I paid to get them off my back and found a new dentist (Fresh Dental Group) that's excellent. Unless I can't breathe, I would rather suffer alone at home. I've been to Dr's offices where you spend twice as much time waiting than receiving care. I have known Dr Garbis for a very long time since our kids grew up playing football together. But I only started going to him maybe 3 years ago along with my son. Let me tell you, what a world of difference. No longer are there any reluctance. The staff is professional, courteous, friendly and actually pretty fun to be around from start to finish. And they are really efficient. Hardly any waiting at any of the times I've been there. I even had to change schedule but none was available for the time that I needed for months. So I requested they put me on a wait list for that time if it showed up. Sure enough, they contacted me within a month because someone cancelled. Again, in and out like clockwork.
