I don't write many reviews, but I had to make an exception for the Stanley House Inn in Marietta, GA. My husband and I attended the wedding of our friend's daughter a couple weekends ago, as well as stayed as guests in one of their suites, and I have to say I was blown away - not only by the venue but also the service! This is a 100+ year old mansion that has been beautifully renovated while at the same time keeping the authenticity of the mansion. This was a perfect place for the wedding - it was beautifully decorated and was intentionally designed with backgrounds that were perfect for pictures resulting in long-lasting memories. Our room was very quaint and large and the beds were very comfortable! And anytime we needed anything during our stay, the staff got back to us immediately and were very professional and friendly. I would highly recommend the Stanley House Inn for any formal occasions or just a weekend getaway because it's right in the Marietta Square which is full of great restaurants, shopping or entertainment! read more

The house and location itself is great. The lodging options and the staff that takes care of breakfast and cleaning are great. The venue itself for the ceremony was excellent. The problem was management. We booked not only THE ENTIRE HOUSE BUT ALSO THE VENUE, which was an upcharge, only for management, specifically MEG HANNAH? to BOOK 4 TOURS ON DAY OF WEDDING WHILE BRIDAL PARTY WAS GETTING READY. How would you feel as a bride to have random strangers walk through your supposedly private space that YOU PAID FOR, and bring strangers around the house. Well, when we brought that up, the response was "well we run a business here". Yes, a business WE PAID FOR. But that's not the end of it. When more comments such as "well I don't know if someone made you understand". Excuse me? You have the AUDACITY to say that to the bride? The final straw was when we were less than an hour from first looks, and we specifically asked if that was the last tour, which she couldn't confirm. So when we directly told her it needs to wrap up by 1:30pm because that's when we start first looks, she again had the AUDACITY, to tell us we can do first looks outside. Again, WE BOOKED THE ENTIRE HOUSE AND VENUE. MEG HANNAH either needs to learn real hospitality and RESPECT, or she needs to find a new line of business. I expect to be in contact with ownership about this, and expect this to also be relayed to all wedding and venue sites as well as all wedding coordinator businesses. read more

Beware booking at Stanley House. Sherri, the coordinator, seems to have serious issues with memory and communication. She often forgot details we discussed and provided incorrect information repeatedly. Despite the bride's clear and organized requests for the centerpieces, Sherri denied these requests and did something completely different, disrupting the entire wedding's vibe. We were unexpectedly required to set up and distribute guest favors ourselves, even though we had previously agreed that we would only direct the setup. On the wedding day, there were tours of the venue during our scheduled time for taking pictures, which was very disruptive. Additionally, despite providing our own pastor, we were charged for theirs because the cancellation was supposedly not processed. The venue is much smaller than advertised; while they claim to accommodate 120 guests, our 85 guests were very cramped. Hidden fees were everywhere, and we felt nickel-and-dimed for everything. One of the most disappointing aspects was the issue with the centerpieces. Despite having them confirmed, on the day of the wedding, Sherri claimed they were unavailable, forcing us to scramble for alternatives. The bride and groom were happy, but only because we did so much work behind the scenes. Do not believe the hype. The experience was extremely disappointing, and I wouldn't recommend Stanley House to anyone. read more

I had my Wedding at the Stanley House in 2021. The wedding was perfect and we had an amazing reception that followed. The great thing about this venue is they literally have a package to fit every persons budget. Most places start at 20k and go up from their. I utilized Adriane for catering my wedding as she helped me create a custom menu to exceed my expectations. If you are on the fence about choosing a venue, this place is perfect! read more

Super cute and quaint Inn right down the road from Marietta Square. The Inn is super clean and super nice and has a very unique atmosphere. If you're looking for somewhere to stay for a night or two that isn't a normal hotel, this is definitely worth a stay. The staff is super nice and friendly and the breakfast is amazing if you're willing to get up to grab it!! Stayed in 2 different rooms on two separate occasions and both were super cozy and I would definitely stay here again. Floors are just a little creaky, but that's part of its charm I guess. read more

WOW What an amazing wedding night stay! The place is beautiful and very clean, the staff very friendly and accommodating, and the rooms are freshly renovated and gorgeous! We had the romantic package for our stay, which included fresh roses, an already chilled bottle of champagne, yummy chocolate covered strawberries, and more. The room also has nice touches that made it super relaxing, including a fan and a white noise sound machine. We appreciated having the little guide book of the square and ended up eating brunch at our new favorite spot Douceur de France. The new owners really go above and beyond to make your stay perfect. We cannot wait to return for our anniversary!!! read more

So disappointing based on just the interaction that I've had. First i left a message through here and nobody took the time to send any reply. So then I called to find out that I have to book my stay online. She didn't even know the rates! It wouldn't let me book all the way two months out so I called back just to find out that if I'm booking on the weekend it HAS to be a two night stay! The really stupid part about this is I'm checking in on Sunday and out on Monday. So that doesn't even seem like it counts! Anyways, ridiculous that they're just trying to mooch! Why 4 stars? Because the Stanley House was super convenient. --- --- --- I had 24 hours in Atlanta (Marietta mostly) so the Stanley House ended up being a clutch crash pad. It was only a few blocks from the OTP Yelper Party I was attending. Though this was a bed and breakfast... I was mainly interested in the bed much more than the breakfast. For one, I was (and still am) on a pretty hardcore diet at the moment, so I didn't want to eat much in terms of unhealthy stuff. But the host of the place was being so sweet and concerned about what I was going to eat. It was like going home for the holidays. When I arrived back at my room after the party, there were little cookie/cake things waiting for me. Stanley House, you're so nice but yet, so evil! :) The shared bathroom concept was interesting, as I'd never done it before. I never ran into those sharing it with me, but apparently they were on their honeymoon. I thought I might hear them celebrating the occasion, but the walls were sufficiently thick enough. I'd do this B&B again, yeppers! read more

My wife and I are having a major renovation on our house and have been confined to our bedroom for over a week. I decided to treat my bride to a romantic B&B in Marietta while the floors were being re-finished so I booked a room at the Stanley House. A very nice young lady greeted me when I first arrived and showed me around explaining where everything is. As we were standing in the dining room I noticed a small table with what looked to be some snacks and some rather uninspiring store bought Christmas sugar cookies on it. As we finished with the introductions, I asked her what was for breakfast. She said they served a continental breakfast Monday thru Friday but she didn't know what was being served for the next morning. I thought it was strange that she would not know such a detail. The instruction information I received by email emphasized that breakfast would be served at 8:30 am so we were sitting at the dining room table the next morning at 8:30 waiting for breakfast to be served. I noticed on the snack table, mentioned earlier, a few added items but thought nothing of it. At 8:30, promptly, a lady emerged from the kitchen area and announced that we could help ourselves to the granola bars, packets of instant grits and oatmeal, pop tarts, apples, oranges and some small apple pastries like what you can get at Publix. The sad Christmas cookies were also there from the day before. I soon realized the snack tray table was our continental breakfast. I actually thought the lady was joking at first but she then turned and disappeared into the kitchen. My wife and I both felt insulted when we realized the management at this establishment was willing to take our money but didn't care at all about us. I did make my displeasure known before we left the next day and I have yet to hear from anyone from Stanley House. read more

The bottom line is that the Stanley Inn is a terrific deal for the money. It is a short walk from the square, and the full breakfasts are delicious. The Innkeepers try hard to give guests a good experience. While imperfect, it does not deserve the derision I've seen on Yelp. Some of the reviewers seem unaccustomed to the conventions of Bed & Breakfasts. Breakfast is usually served at a specific time. The rooms are usually period, and of varying sizes and layouts, not all of which are ideal for a modern traveler. There is a reason that different rooms command different prices. The innkeepers apparently have taken steps to reduce the noise caused by the train tracks a block away. If you are sensitive to noise, I would suggest you telephone the inn to ask them which rooms have newer windows or are facing away from the tracks. There are, however, some valid criticisms. The reservation system is poor. Your web reservation is not set until the innkeepers confirm it, and they seem to be lackadaisical about doing so. Other than the dining area, the common areas are decorated for weddings, not for the inn's guests. So, to enjoy your stay, I'll recommend the following: 1) Until you get a confirmation emailed, assume your room is not reserved. 2) Ask for a card with door instructions and the Wifi code 3) If you are a light sleeper, ask for a room with soundproof windows or facing away from the tracks. read more

This place is a 10/10. My boyfriend and I stayed here on our way down to Florida and this place was amazing. Everyone was so kind and helpful and it was very clean. It really felt like a home away from home. We had banana foster for breakfast and it tasted delicious. read more

Most people are reviewing Stanley House as a B&B, so I will add my experience as a potential wedding reception venue. Last summer, I emailed the Stanley House about hosting my reception there and ended up meeting with Cathy to tour the property. I got the sense from the emails that she was not very friendly (rare in the wedding industry when everyone is courting your business), but thought "It's hard to tell over email" so I went. The entire meeting I had the unshakeable feeling that she was judging me and felt that I was ridiculous/difficult/naive etc. Yes, it's just a feeling, but I felt uncomfortable the entire time. It's true that I was young and also officially getting married in France, so perhaps she did think I was too young or spoiled or uppity, I'm not sure. I feel like my questions were perfectly reasonable and if I ever was naive it's because I'd never gotten married before! Anyways, the house is nice but the decor is borderline tacky (their website should have given this away). This is a real shame as a beautiful old house right on the square is perfect for weddings! I took many pictures and looking at them after the visit I realized the tackiness is magnified in pictures. I'm talking hearts, bows, fleur de lys, etc everywhere! My sister and I decided through the pics that if most of this could be taken down the venue would be perfect. I emailed Cathy to very politely ask how much freedom the bride has in choosing the decor for her big day, and she replied with a curt "Within reason." Needless to say I continued on in my search. Cathy seemed to be perfectly fine with this development as she never followed up about hosting my reception. (Most places I communicated with were quick to follow up after a visit or even inquiry.) In sum, I was really surprised by the coldness and judgement I received from the Stanley House as not only is that plain old rude, but really unwarranted given the tackiness of the decor and difficult location (parking and noise from trains). LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING!!!!! This was the best wedding experience you could possibly imagine. My daughter decided on thanks giving that she was going to get married in December 29. So you can imagine we were thrust into a major stress situation. Cathy and her staff took all of that away. She is an amazing wedding planner and she pulled off a miracle. If she has a date available in your window this is the place to have your wedding. She makes it so easy. Guest accommodation, catering, music, atmosphere, decorations, who could ask for anything more. Your only going to need to write one check and it's not as big as you think. This is a great value. If you have an upcoming wedding or event you owe it to yourself to go and speak with Cathy to see what you are missing. Thank you thank you thank you to Cathy and all of her staff that made our daughters last minute wedding such a fantastic experience for us and our guests. read more

Wow....sure wish i had read some reviews prior to dropping a wasted night at this place.... the only reason they got one star is she upgraded us from the basement apartment to the upstairs at no charge...only because she claimed the basement apartment would be too chilly....thanks for that... Now, moving on to the overall experience. the house decor was appropriate for the time period of the home, but that being said, i do not want to sleep on a rock...update your bedding people. no one was there to greet us when we arrived at 6:00pm. we came in had some packaged cupcakes and water....great start there. we walked into the kitchen looking for some hot tea and what i saw on the shelf enraged me...BOXED mashed potatoes. you have got to be kidding me. you see my mouth had been watering for a B and B experience after seeing the local atlanta news talking about the B and B in covington where gone with the wind was filmed. the chef there was making peaches and cream french toast. being that we lived in marietta and wanted to get away for a night without traveling to the intercontinental, thought we would give this place a chance. after crawling into bed and realizing that there was no way i was going to be able to sleep on the absurdly hard bed, we left. we texted the inn keeper and said we were leaving and not to bother preparing breakfast for us. never heard a word back.....no text in response saying she was sorry.....nothing. just took the cash and never made an attempt to make it right or at least apologize. terrible terrible business practice you guys...you know word does get out EVENTUALLY!! read more

The Stanley House Inn has set a higher standard... far exceeding our expectations... the Inn... the rooms are all appointed artistically and appropriately for that antebellum feel... warm and comforting... Terri is a the very idea of the southern hostess and she sets an amazing breakfast... the Inn location is ideal as well... within walking distance to Mareitta Square... another mile and you can visit the Gone With The Wind Museum... we're both really looking forward to our next visit to Mareitta, Georgia and a stay at the Stanley House Inn... read more

The Stanley House is much more of a wedding chapel/event space than a bed and breakfast. Keep this in mind. If you don't mind being surrounded by wedding promotional materials, white bows everywhere, wedding photo albums, and wedding quotes on the walls, this place might be OK for you. But there was no space other than our room to relax (like a parlor or other common area, for example). It seems that the owners are looking to rent a few rooms on the days between wedding events, and that the focus is not much on being a typical bed and breakfast but more on promoting the wedding side of the business. read more

My daughter's wedding was held here. We were very pleased. It was exactly the setting we were looking for. The decor is beautiful. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. The vendors they used were great - wonderful hors d'oeuvres; cake was delicious (and we had many options to choose from), photographer worked well with the wedding party, especially the young flower girl; great sense of humor. The ceremony went very smoothly. We received many compliments from guests about the venue and the ceremony. I gave four stars instead of five only because the dressing room for the bride & attendants was rather small and warm but overall, it was a wonderful venue and we had a great time. read more

We just enjoyed a visit to The Stanley House for our 14th wedding anniversary. En route, they called to see which afternoon snack we would like to have upon arrival. My husband chose root beer floats which turned out to be wonderful. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the innkeepers who by the way were exceptionally kind and friendly. We were upgraded to the Buckhead Room without even asking because it was our anniversary. The room was warm welcoming and reminiscent of the days long past. The Stanley House mansion was built in 1895 for the aunt of Woodrow Wilson. The mansion is within great walking distance to the historic and charming Marietta Square which is breathtaking and has many unique shops. Overall, the Stanley House Luxury Bed and Breakfast was just perfect for our anniversary! We are fans! read more

Our experience at The Stanley House was appalling. When we walked in, they looked surprised to see us and were visibly annoyed that we didn't remember the name of the room we booked 3 months ago. I honestly thought they forgot we had a reservation. The man who works in the kitchen was assigned to take us to the room and when we informed him we had to get an early start the next day, he told us breakfast wasn't until nine, but that we could feel free to "rummage around" for something to eat before we go. Obviously, we didn't do that and got no breakfast. So much for the Bed and Breakfast concept! When we went out to dinner that night, we got back at 10:30 and were locked out. We found a phone number to call and after a very complicated conversation, were finally given a code to enter the back door. This is something that certainly should have been made clear to us when we arrived or before we went out. There is very minimal parking and we ended up parking in a bank lot across the street because the bank was closed. I don't know where you park if the bank is open. Because there were discussions underway with a family holding a wedding shower there, it was suggested we use the back door where suppliers were bringing in the food for the shower. We were there during a bit of a cold snap and the room was absolutely freezing! They put the heat on for about 4 hours during the night, but other than that, it was so cold! The bathroom is the size of a postage stamp with minimal amenities. There's not even a decent bathroom door. The sink is in the middle of the bedroom. The only positives, which is why I even gave one star, were the room was clean and the bed was reasonably comfortable. I would in no way recommend this place to anyone going to Marietta who wants to stay at a Bed and Breakfast. I've been to several Bed and Breakfasts in various parts of the country and have never seen anything run so poorly. read more

Great bed and breakfast!! The only con is the train which is very close by and loud... They offer earplugs but not much more they can do. Breakfast was great!!! They do have weddings often so if you're really looking to be catered to as an Inn guest it might not be for you. The owners were very friendly and kind in my opinion even though they had weddings going on all weekend. They seemed very concerned with our happiness. It is obviously an older house - that is its charm!! They have free wifi, breakfast, free parking, nice deck, comfortable beds. It was basically private because we and one other rooms were the only ones staying. If you're looking for more fancy hotel luxuries try a Marriott. This is something unique and different! At first glance, this place was beautiful. We stayed in the one bedroom apartment downstairs for 3 nights, it was very roomy and reasonably priced, and clean. The breakfast was good the first day, but the next two, we were told there was no room for us to eat breakfast. Well, what am I paying for then? Also, the house is next to the police station and some railroad tracks, so the sirens and the train blaring all night sure made for a restless night of sleep. We left exhausted each morning. The bedroom was very nicely furnished and clean. The architecture of the home is pretty and the outside plants are lovely. If what you are looking for is a place to sleep that is more homey than a hotel than this is fine. The location to Marietta square is great. Stanley House is not a typical B&B. There is no place comfortable to sit downstairs except hard wood folding chairs set up for a wedding, or on the porch hard iron chairs. There is not a sitting area with sofa & coffee table etc. We did have a little sofa in our room. There is no bar set up where you pay by the drink, or evening social hour with other guests. There is no one to greet you when you arrive if you come after a certain time (5pm?). I definitely would consider this a wedding hall with a few guest rooms upstairs. Also I sent an email asking a question about our stay the Sunday prior to our Saturday stay and never received a response. Overall this is a fine place to spend the night, as long as you are not expecting typical B&B amenities. read more

We truly enjoyed our two night stay at Stanley House in Marietta, Georgia. Beautiful 1890 home, large room (well I think we had the wedding room!), wonderful furnishings, just great all around. Good location, walk to Marietta Square. Fantastic breakfast - very interesting and filling, including peach muffin, mediterranean eggs, and the second morning a wonderful croissant stuffed with creamed cheese and jam...and the bacon was cooked perfectly! Not great for my diet, but what a nice splurge. We highly recommend Stanley House. read more

This was the wedding venue for our daughter on November 2, 2014. Everything clicked from start to finish. We scheduled an appointment for a tour and received package infomation. The Stanley House wedding planners work with any package to adjust what the bride wants which adds more or less to the cost. We chose to use all the people they had to offer. Truly everything was perfect. Everyone loved the heavy hor d'oeuvres, and was enough for a meal. My daughter's bouquet was just as she ordered. The cake was so fresh and moist. The ceremony was outside in the courtyard under a gorgeous colorful tree. The bar was setup inside since cool weather arrived. The guests were seated in lovely rooms, decorated tables, and sparkling chandeliers. Our wedding coordinator was calm and helped the bride in every single detail before and during the wedding. The bar tender was congenial and fun. The bride and groom chose to spend that night in the bridal room which includes amazing antique furniture and a claw foot tub. My daughter reported the breakfast buffet was delicious. We wouldn't have changed anything! read more
