Stanford House is a hidden gem in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP). It was built 135 years ago, and is a part of CVNP since 1978. Unless you actively hike in the area, you might not know about its existence. And you definitely should! I just discovered it yesterday during CVNP programming. HOUSE: The house is gorgeous two story Greek Revival structure. It feels especially homey due to the rocking chairs on the patio. The house has a multitude of rooms with bunk beds, dining room with two huge tables, living room, kitchen, and a huge backyard (CVNP). You won't find a TV here but will find dedicated Wi-Fi. There is comfortable patio furniture right outside and fire pit. Long gravel driveway offers parking right by the house and beyond. The house has old school charm with simple furnishings and antique pieces. The best part is the ability to connect with nature - Stanford Trail is right in the backyard. Brandywine waterfalls are within walking distance. The house is currently reservable through CVNP, can be used for meetings, retreats, and events (such as weddings). It was my very first instinct to message a few retreat host friends, and inform them about this place! A frequent retreat guest, I can absolutely visualize a cozy retreat here. The house is private with access to the fire pit. The gravel driveway and back parking is shared with the hikers. It still provides just the right amount of privacy. While it's nestled in the woods, it's pretty easy to locate via GPS. My Uber drivers had only a little trouble finding it. The address is pretty accurate, signage is available. EVENTS: I attended Art of Nature program at the Stanford House. It's a program that highlights local non-profits and businesses. My program was art-focused with dinner, hiking, and introduction to the parks. Dinner was prepared right on site. It was a much needed serene pause. Check out their programming on CVNP site. I really enjoyed my time at the Stanford House. It feels so deeply located at the CVNP that it's a true getaway.
