This is the worst school I have ever attended in my 15+ years of schooling. I am now in college,…read morebeing treated the way I should, and feel the need to leave a review on how badly this school set me up. This school genuinely traumatized me. Ended up switching to a charter school after my first year in 2017 since I felt so anxious around other students after my experience here. The biggest issue here is the LARGE amount of bullying on campus. As a freshman I was immediately bullied by other freshman. One girl randomly singled me out in class and yelled at me in front of everyone. She was upset she got caught vaping in class and thought I "snitched on her", which I didn't do. She was upset she was caught doing something she shouldn't have been doing as a 14 year old. People filmed me crying on snapchat, posted it, and I had people I didn't even know in other grades coming up to me asking about it. I left the class and reported it to the office in tears from embarrassment. They suspended her for 2 days, that was it. She also got into a physical fight earlier that year and dragged a girl by her hair. All within the first 2 months of school. How did the school help me? They switched me from that class to another period, which made me change my elective class. This was halfway through the school year, during spring semester, so any other elective open was closed except for choir. I was unhappy doing something I didn't sign up for all because someone bullied me. I was also kicked out of yearbook during my fall semester, a month into the school year, because I had a B in the class. Ms. Frohoff chose me as an 8th grader to be enrolled in yearbook due to good grades. She kicked me out because the single page I did was bad to her, even though all I did was a follow a prompt I was given. I did it EXACTLY how I was told. She wanted me to change the quotes students gave me. After she kicked me out, they were changed, and students messaged me at the end of the year upset their quotes weren't what they said. I thought that was ridiculous. I had to get put into AVID since it was an available elective. So within my first year, I had 3 different electives. Only 1, yearbook, I wanted to do. This messed up my schedule completely. I also had Frohoff for English. I will forever be disappointed with that class. While other classes read interesting books and had fun activities that helped them learn, all I remember from her class was her complaining about her personal life and just handing out worksheets and quizzes. English is so fun and I felt like this class was such a failure compared to other teachers on campus. I left after my freshman year due to the bullying and lack of support from the staff at the school. There is also racism and discrimination on campus that I noticed other students struggling with. There is also drug use on campus. Hopefully it's better now, but from my experience and others, It is not a friendly environment for most students. I feel like you have to get lucky with the classmates and teachers you have to genuinely enjoy your time here. Oh and not to mention, a teacher getting caught during a sting operation a few years ago for trying to meet up for sexual activities with a minor. And another instance of student committing suicide because of bullying on campus (shown in other reviews). It's insane they don't try to fix their bullying issue after all of this. There are better high schools to take your child too.

I remembered Curie Elementary from a few years ago when my own son attended an autism socialization program after school, I really liked the campus and the area. I was really impressed with how Ms. Hunter setup her classroom and how the children had bonded to her, especially after finding out the short amount of time she's been there. She's very personable and funny, imo kids on the spectrum respond to that. It seems like a great school, and it might be a great fit for my cousin's son, the only thing that bothers me is that the teacher that would be a awesome fit for him won't be there in the fall, she got laid off. If she were staying I would definitely recommend this school to my cousin without hesitation. I think Joshua would love it here! The reason I'm giving 5 stars is because of the great experience I had meeting Ms. Hunter, thanks again for opening up your classroom to me, I really appreciated it!
