They had food trucks selling shaved ice and snow cones, arts and crafts, food and snacks, games, a DJ, and live performances by their lion dance team, hula dancers, and martial arts team. I was amazed by how talented the students were. I've seen a lot of professional lion dancers and the performances by these kids were comparable! They did such an excellent job! The school did a wonderful job planning this event, but their greatness doesn't end here. According to my niece, all of her teachers have been awesome! She actually looks forward to coming to school and is sad when it's summer or winter break because she misses her teachers and classmates. The school has a strong academic program and is one of San Diego's best! Lion pride shines bright at Jonas Salk!

Thank you so much Ms. Casiano and Ms. Villena for being a wonderful teacher to my daughter JAC and hope everyone enjoy a fabulous Summer.

All of the teachers are warm and caring. They are very mindful which classroom each child is in depending on their developmental milestones. They will move them up when the child is ready and always are willing to have a conversation about it if a parent feels differently about anything. They are amazing at keeping up with healthcare recommendations, especially enforcing vaccination, which I greatly appreciate in this era. They are very transparent about any infectious outbreaks that are happening so that parents are aware for each individual classroom to be on the lookout for symptoms in their own child. They use dojo to communicate so that we can see pictures and videos of all of the great learning and fun that our children are having as well as to send messages to the parents. They celebrate all of the national and international holidays, which makes this daycare, especially culturally inclusive. I love the diversity of the teachers and the children, building a wonderful social foundation for my children to experience while they have been here from three months all the way through five years of age.

As nervous parents dealing with COVID fears and food allergies, we were so worried at first. But the staff promised us everything would be okay, and they were totally right. This place is special because: - The teachers genuinely love what they do and it shows - Our son learned to read and write in TK Sharks (we were so impressed!) - They handled his allergies perfectly, giving us such peace of mind - He was SO ready for kindergarten thanks to them Walking in every morning and being greeted by Ms. Taylor, Ms. Christine, and Ms. Theresa at the front desk just starts the day right. And the teachers throughout the years, Ms. Dianne, Ms. Ginger, Ms. Tammy, Ms. Barbie, Ms. Erin, Ms. Madi, Ms. Christy, Mr. Nick, Ms. Carmen, Ms. Julie, Ms. Paige, Ms. Suko, Ms. Priscilla, and Ms. Parvin have all been incredible. Each one has touched our hearts and made such a difference in our son's life. After all these years, SEA feels like home. Our son loved it, we loved it, and we're so grateful we found this wonderful, caring place. If you want your child to be loved and nurtured while learning and growing, this is the place!

Of course even more biased because I have been on the PTA here for the last 10 years. Gotta put a plug in for the PTA....but they work hard to make sure our staff and kids get 100% support! Mr. T set high standards for this school and with our new principal Mr. Lee he has even set the bar higher. They have both done an extremely awesome job with the school. We have a lot of activities that we do for the kids from our money making Fall Festival, Spring Jog-a-thon, Family Movie Nights, Family Dance, etc. Casa Mira View across the street is a tremendous assistant financially to our school. Perfect place to live so the kids can walk right across the street. Our PTA supports an awesome art program through Art Corps. This allows the kids to learn 8 fantastic art lessons which we then present at the end of the year at our Art Show. With the support of our PE program headed by Mr. Kaneko the PE also helps fund our Swim Program. Grades 3-5 take part in a twice a week swim program for 6-8 weeks in the Spring. Our 5th graders get a one week full of fun before their promotion in June that 2 of my 3 have the pleasure of enjoying. I can go on and on about the school....message me if you ever have any questions. I also work at this school is a special education assistant, because I love this school so much =)

A 7th grade science teacher last year harassed students and I could see that happening as he was paying more attention to the tables with girls that ones with primarily boys, and the school doesn't nothing to take care of the problems on campus.

My son particularly loves learning about animals and the ocean, and there is a Nature Studies class offered, taught originally by Mary and now Nathan. Both excellent! They learn not only about animals, but ecosystems and plants. My daughter told me the other day that they are growing things in the outside garden and making salads from what they grew that they actually get to eat! We have been pleased with all of their teachers so far, but my son's 4th teacher Alexa really stands out. She is vibrant, engaged, and kind, and I can tell genuinely interested in the students and eager for them to learn. My son is sad to see this year come to a close because he has enjoyed the year so much. He has generally not been one to seek out opportunities to lead but Alexa has trusted him to do that, and I can tell it has boosted his confidence. My daughter's teacher this year for third grade is Adrienne. My daughter loves her. She said she is so patient and kind, but she get's the kids to learn. My daughter told me the other day that she wants to become a teacher because of Adrienne- what better testament to her teaching skills than that! My daughter will be sad to see the year come to a close as well. And finally I want to give a shout out to Natasha, the theatre teacher, and Sam, who teaches ceramics. Just wow. The theatre program at Innovations is truly one of a kind. She puts on so many shows, it is hard to see them all! I have enjoyed each and every show I have seen. My kids have also enjoyed classes with Sam. This is also a unique opportunity that not every school has to learn pottery, and working with ceramics to make various things like flowers, pizzas, ghosts, snow men. I appreciate that their curriculum includes SEL (social emotional learning) and that the students aren't allowed to have cell phones while on campus. The highlight of our experience has definitely been the fantastic teachers! Adrienne Reighard has been a phenomenal teacher for my third grader. She's genuinely interested in getting to know each of her students and finding ways to support their learning. She's so calm, patient and kind, yet firm enough that the kids listen and respect her. She goes above and beyond to create a supportive and efficient classroom environment. And as a parent, I really appreciate her clear, consistent communication. Becca, the 3rd grade teacher's assistant, is also proactive and really gets the kids. Patrick, the Spanish teacher, is one of the most dynamic, engaging, and effective teachers ever. His students love the fun activities and catchy songs he incorporates in his class. He makes learning fun! He also teaches chess and woodcarving and it seems like he can make any subject interesting. Kristy Fitts and Christie Fullerton were also great teachers, and planned lots of engaging projects, field trips, and holiday-themed activities. Nathan, the nature studies teacher, is fantastic and plans some great hands-on activities for the kids, like making their own salads to eat and making their own hugenkultur beds for gardening. For families who prioritize a nurturing environment with smaller class sizes and a variety of electives, this school has a lot to offer. The academics are more relaxed than rigorous, which would be a good fit for those prioritizing a balanced lifestyle. That said, we have found that the school has been navigating some challenges with managing disruptive behavior effectively, which impacts the learning environment.
