If we could rate in half stars, Standing Room would be the perfect 3.5 star place as it makes a decent coffee but it has no specific point of difference to other places around the area. However we can't, but in my wisdom I felt 4 star was more appropriate than 3 and this is purely for one reason - you can see the effort that has gone into the place to provide a great coffee on the University campus. It's a tiny stall in the Union Hall, but it has been decked out in true Melbourne fashion - simple yet warm and inviting. The baristas are always good to talk to, and despite the 5 Senses beans they use not always being my favourite, they still make a good coffee nonetheless. There are cute little cakes always for sale, whilst maybe being slightly overpriced for their size, would surely make a nice snack on the way to your next lecture! read more
