Several other installers I contacted were very nice, but they weren't able to do the work because it required modifying the wooden canopy and creating a custom solution for a recirculating range hood. I was repeatedly told that I would probably need multiple trades or a contractor. Peter was different. He came to my home, looked at the existing setup in person, asked me for the drawings and documentation for the range hood, and actually took the time to figure out how the installation could be done. He gave me an estimate, and once my range hood arrived, it was extremely easy and quick to get on his schedule. He arrived with all of the tools and equipment he needed and was extremely professional throughout the installation. When the original plan for the vent wouldn't work because of the construction of my wooden canopy, he discussed the issue with me before making modifications and came up with another solution. He was able to install the new range hood while preserving the look of my existing cabinetry, which was very important to me. Peter also helped with my old downdraft cooktop. Even though I have free installation for my new cooktop through Lowe's, he explained the difference between a standard big-box appliance installation and the additional preparation my particular setup required. I decided to have him remove the old downdraft cooktop and prepare the area so that when my new cooktop arrives, the installation should be much more straightforward. He also discovered an existing live electrical connection in the canopy and was able to install an outlet for the new range hood, which was an unexpected bonus. What impressed me just as much as the quality of the work was how professional and clean he was. This installation involved cutting wood and created quite a bit of dust, but he cleaned the work area thoroughly afterward. He was knowledgeable, patient, prepared, and simply a pleasure to work with. I am extremely happy with the finished installation. If I need another appliance installed in the future, Peter will be the person I call. I would also happily recommend him to anyone -- especially someone with an installation that isn't completely standard and needs a professional who is willing to actually look at the problem and figure out a solution.
