I have tried for two days to contact this newspaper to put a vacation Hold on my newspaper. No one answers on any of the lines called. What a crappy way to run a business. I have left a message to call me back and yet no one does. Quick to take my money with no service. The last time I put a vacation Hold they still delivered my newspapers. We just moved to the area and signed up to receive the weekend only paper about 2 months ago. I've only received 3 papers...I keep having to call them, and each time I call you're sitting on hold for about 10 minutes. Canceled my subscription, and got charged to do so. Got a confirmation call stating i was to get my last paper, then be done.. then got charged for 2 more months! When I called they said sorry we don't do refunds .. they didn't cancel my account and didn't have any notes showing. So I am stuck paying 2 more months because they failed to record the initial cancelation. read more

I have had a subscription for over 20 years and the last 5 years has been a total nightmare. You cannot get a paper and when you do you have to hunt your entire yard for it. I have even had it thrown on top of our awnings. Getting ahold of customer service has been a whole different experience. Monday after not receiving our paper Sunday or Monday and now Tuesday we called to complain and after 30 minutes was answered by another irate customer, tell me how that happened. Still no paper. They have raised their prices on a paper that has gotten smaller and smaller. The news is old news and then you cannot even get it. When I called to finally cancel and yes they just took a payment out wanted to know if I wanted to wait till the end of the month to cancel. I have been a subscriber for several years. Over the past few months, delivery has been sporadic at best. When it is not delivered they promise to deliver the Missed copy the following day. They never do. Instead of putting the paper in the red paper box they provided the carrier throws it on the lawn or driveway exposed to the elements and sprinklers. If I could post NEGATIVE I would. The standard examiner use to be a morning paper that was delivered 7 days a week including holidays. It was filled with ads and news pertinent to all not just the mormon church. It had news articles about our community. Since it was bought by out of state company, we have zero customers service. Smaller print, little of paper, no Sunday, no holidays, nothing sufficient to actually call it a newspaper. Now, they are paying bulk postage to mail the paper to subscribers. No suggestion box or feedback from customers wanted. Postman don't get to homes till 2:00pm. Really. This isn't acceptable! When I spoke with alex at standard examiner he told me it was cheaper and if people didn't like it the could unsubscribe. I asked him if the company didn't matter to him. He said he gets paid either way. My suggestion is everyone should cancel the standard examiner and see how long his paycheck keeps coming. Sadly, a school newspaper could do better. read more

It takes 20 minutes for anyone answer the phone. 20 minutes really!!!! I called 7 day in a row and asked for a porch delivery, it's still not on the porch. They told me, the customer to call their employee, and tell the delivery person to deliver it on my porch. Sloppy way to conduct a business. read more

I thought I would write an update since August of 2021. They have gone downhill even more. The got rid of the commenting system. They still don't deliver my paper into the bin leaving it on the driveway where it gets soggy from rain, run over by cars, or buried in the snow. I noticed many of there sections now are sections from the Deseret News. I don't think I would really have cared if it were sections of the Salt Lake Tribune but it seems I'm no longer paying for a local paper, just a cheap subscription to the Deseret News. Today I was looking at subscription costs and tried to look up the rate for the Ogden Standard-Examiner and nowhere on their site is a way to find out how much subscriptions cost, when your current subscription ends, and even how to get a subscription or renew a subscription. I find this information to be very important. I'm amazed the standard-examiner doesn't find this information important since people who are interested in subscribing to their newspaper online simply cannot subscribe. How are they even able to remain afloat when most of today's e-commerce is done online? It simply doesn't make sense that a newspaper would exclude this information unless they no longer plan to use the subscription model and be a free newspaper. I just don't get it! read more

DO NOT WORK AS A CARRIER for them! They don't pay you for gas until you're paid. The wear and tear your car goes through is not worth it, and they charge you insurance but won't help with any fixes. They have horrible communication and they will not give you a heads up to fix anything. They charge you more than they pay, if they have to Correct something (which they should do you know about your mistakes) Also the pay is not as advertised. Save yourself and your family the stress financially and emotionally! Wish I Could give a negative rating. -5 Stars. read more

My wife and I have been subscribers for many years. The paper has much less content, and now there is no paper on holidays or sundays. If that is their policy they should reduce our subscription cost accordingly. Not what it used to be! read more

For many years we have taken the Standard Examiner and even had Three sons who delivered for them. Over the years we have noticed the pages and print have become smaller. We have talked about cancelling it several times because the quality of the paper is just not there anymore and there would be several days of news paper in our house that have not been open and read. About three weeks ago we called and cancelled it and they do their very best to have us continue receiving it. We had to let them know in a very firm way that we did not want to take the paper anymore. Even after we cancelled it continued to show up on our door step. Four weeks later and several more calls to confirm our cancellation the paper is still showing up every morning. read more

The Standard Examiner is shady to work for. They train you for 3 day and say that they are going to pay you for the 3 days then don't. Then when you start they make you sign a contract and they only tell you that the contract just states that you are in contract and that if you want to quit it has to be done in the first. Well they don't let you have time to look over that contract and then when you try to quit because of that contract if its on any day besides the first of the month they will try to charge you a $500 bond. Also, they say you are private contractors yet any time you needs bag or rubber bands they will take that out of your pay check also every complaint you get they take $1.50 per complaint out of your pay. Then if the road are bad, you have a flat tire, or get in accident they do not care the papers still have to be delivered by 6: 30 they say ask certain people to finish but those people always say no. If you are sick in the hospital they also do not care they say papers have to be delivered by 6: 30. I recommend if you work for standard to not. It's not worth it. read more
