Valley Home Improvement has completed three projects at our home - transforming a concrete basement…read moreinto a bright, spacious child play area; replacing the ugliest deck and patio in Florence MA; and just now - taking our ancient primary bathroom to the bones and creating the bathroom of our dreams. For each project, VHI has provided timely service, helpful design suggestions, and precise installation with quality materials. Thank you Steve Silverman and Valley Home Improvement. Here is a timeline of why I would AVOID this business (most recent clarification re: their higjly inaccurate Houzz website response): *Am extremely dismayed that Steve Silverman has posted on the Houzz website that it was "another Steve" that we had dealt with, hence the lack of professionalism. Nope,, we definitely, 100% dealt w/ Mr. Silverman, he even gave us hos business card after the one visit we had with him on 9/18/2017 (which he claims was never in their system). Speaks volumes that they have to make up an excuse to explain being ghosted, after multiple promises of a followup. Please do your research and consider other more trustworthy and upfront businesses before going to VHI. Very SHADY & UNTRUSTWORTHY. I shall cooy/paste their Houzz reply. *Houzz Reply from VHI*- " Hi there - I sincerely apologize we weren't able to connect with you. I believe the Steve you met with (another Steve, we have 3) is no longer with the company - which is why you haven't heard back. We double checked the system, and no information was added from Sept 18th forward." *Original Google Review* Met w/ Steve on Sept. 18th for a condo reno project. We explained how we waited years to finally be able to start, and we discussed our budget, etc. Never heard back from Steve, weeks, then months after oir initial meeting. I touched base a few times, always in a pleasant manner, to inquire if an intial estimate/timeline could be discussed. Steve had one excuse after another-the most recent (recent being about a month ago) that he was going to a trade show, and would have the info within a week. I still haven't received a phone call. I completely understand things get hectic, and my husbamd and I are extremely patient, friendly, and flexible. However, to completelty blow off a client, is unacceptable and frankly, rude. My rating=Proceed With Caution!

I was absolutely desperate to find what I needed in time to arrange the replacement this coming Friday. I didn't have an appointment (didn't know I needed one), but Michelle brought me in anyway. She bent over backwards to help me, even though my requirements and assumptions changed several times during the visit. What a patient, knowledgeable, and capable group. Thank you so much! I'll be using the services of this company from now on!

Northampton Plumbing Supply is a hidden gem tucked away in the industrial park. I used to think it…read morewas just for contractors, but I just learned that they welcome homeowners too. I had a bathroom faucet with a leak. I first went to a big box home improvement store with off-brand parts that made the problem worse. The big box store also pushed me to buy parts I didn't need. So then I went to NPS. I told the employee behind the counter the brand of faucet I had and the problem and he did some research. He went back to their supplies and found something I never would have picked up on my own. Evidently Delta Faucets changed their design for the gasket/ball assembly. They had the exact Delta brand part I needed and it cost less than the big box supplies (that didn't work). I'm very glad I went here. He was also nice with my 3-year old who tagged along! Absolutely going here again.

The folks here at the Hatfield location were helpful by themselves, but my piece of advice…read moreregarding Lumber Liquidators is this: do NOT use any of the contractors they work with! Find and hire your own. Lumber Liquidators (LL) clearly tries to distance itself from any legal ramifications of the fairly epic incompetence we encountered from the two contractors they set us up to the install our floors: BM Flooring Inc. (out of Norwood, MA), and Floors by Webster (Christian Webster is the main guy there. They were sub-contractors to BM, I believe? I can't find them anywhere on the web.). (LONG STORY SHORT: DO NOT USE EITHER OF THESE CONTRACTORS). Ok, If you're not already bored, here's the unabridged story: First: the guy (Sergey) from BM came out, measured, assessed, etc our project, but never recommended that we do not put a real wood floor down on our concrete slab floor. Did not come up! That would have been helpful! So, we bought all the bamboo flooring we needed from LL, brought it home, and did what we were told by BM Flooring: unpack the flooring from its packaging and let it sit out in the room to dry/acclimate. Ok. Sat there for a week, near a wood stove. Nice and ready. Second: team Floors by Webster arrives bright and early on installation day, and Christian says, after measuring it with a device: 'This concrete is at about 90% humidity. I cannot recommend installing wood on this, AT ALL. They should have sold you vinyl flooring! Sergey didn't recommend that?" Well, NO. I called BM and told them their guy screwed up and could they help us out somehow (by sending someone to pack up the wrong flooring/pick up new flooring, for example? We have a baby and jobs etc) They were completely, insultingly dismissive. So - we return all the bamboo flooring to LL, choose the new vinyl flooring, do the math (about a wash) load it in the car, and the next day Webster's team installed the flooring. (Side note: LL first told us they couldn't take back the bamboo because it was UNPACKAGED, as per the contractors instructions! They managed to help us out anyway, though, so kudos to them. They came to our house and helped us pack up the flooring, even, which was nice - but the whole thing was already such an epic screw-up that it seemed like the very least they could do.) EPILOGUE: It is now 3 months after the installation, and most of the trim Webster installed has popped right off. Transition pieces between rooms have also popped right out and are now temporarily secured with packing tape (!?). Christian does not return my repeated calls, and has completely ghosted us to come make these pretty simple fixes. The main flooring is mostly fine, except for that a few pieces were obviously not cut right and there are gaps between floorboards. Summary: LL are ok, but they have arrangements with terrible flooring contractors. DO NOT USE THE CONTRACTORS THEY RECOMMEND. Just buy the flooring and find someone you trust to do the work. I wish I could write individual bad reviews of the contractors, but they don't seem to exist on Yelp.
