My company has been using Stamps.com for over 4 years now and I have been very happy with the interface and service. Previously, we used Pitney Bowes, but due to an irreconcilable change, we needed to find an alternative service. Both Pitney Bowes and Stamps.com charge $15.99 per month to use their software program, so, there was no change cost-wise for my company going from PB to Stamps.com, although the Stamps.com interface is NOT a desktop program--it is online and one needs to connect to the internet to login. The PB program was a desktop client. 1. While it takes a short bit of time to explore and understand, the interface becomes very easy to use. We appreciate the different features that we can use to professionally print our postage on envelopes or package labels, including the 'hide postage cost' feature; and filling out the international customs form is way easier in Stamps.com than at the USPS website. 2. We have never had any problems with requesting and receiving refunds on several messed up labels. 3. I honestly cannot remember ever receiving bad service when I've had to contact customer service. They have been very professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. 4. I have easily been able to print labels for contractors to use to mail items to my company by simply switching the postal meter address to that of the contractor's, and then I switch it back to my company's address to resume normal address label printing. This helps me to control my company's postage costs and allows me to not have to give out the company's UPS account number to others, who have previously abused it. The only reason I am giving 4 stars and not 5 stars--and since I can't give them a 4.5 stars--is because a) the system does not allow one to print First Class International Letter mail directly onto envelopes--one has to use the NetStamps for that class of mail, which my company does not use; and b) the system archives postage purchase records for only 2 years, instead of the entire history of my company's account. If Stamps.com was able to allow one to print First Class International Letter mail directly onto envelopes and allows one to download the entire postage purchase account record (not just the past 2 years), then I would be happy to give 5 stars. I have no hesitation recommending Stamps.com to others. They usually have a risk-free trial period as well, if one wanted to just try it out. I am very shocked reading the other reviews. My experiences have not been anything as that described by others here. I have a sneaky suspicion that many of the dissatisfied reviewers did not take the time to actually read the agreement that they were signing up for. Also, please keep in mind that Stamps.com, like PB and other private postage printers, is mainly for BUSINESSES and not individuals. This is not a personal service, it is an enterprise service that provides features that not even the USPS website provides. I will give two Orchids and the two Onions. I do so because I believe in a balanced view. ABOUT US I have responsibility for two small businesses. Before SDC, we used a Pitney Bowes postage meter at a cost in excess of $400 a year. We switched to SDC in 2005 because it is all about reducing costs through workflow. Presenting Problem #1 When clients called and wanted to know when we mailed something, we would put them on hold, go to the client file, find the date of the cover letter, and tell them the date we mailed the item. Later, we gravitated to a paper mail log. It saved running to the file room. However, everyone's description of the mail's contents differed, as did the legibility of the handwriting. ORCHID #1 We kept logs for eight years before discovering SDC. SDC's Cost Code feature holds 1000 entries. We can search by Cost Code, Client name, date range, or all three. We can do that in seconds, right from our PCs. Not only is the speed of the response impressive to the client, it saves us the labor cost for the time we cannot bill back to the client. Presenting Problem #2 I did a time and motion study on the processing of Certified Mail, Return Receipt Requested. It takes about an hour per piece start to finish using the Post Office's Green cards with tear off RRR numbers, not counting the time at the Post Office. ORCHID # 2 SDC offers two Certified mail pieces, a #10 envelope and a label for larger envelope or package sizes. Start to finish is about 20 -25 minutes per piece using SDC supplied # 10 envelopes or the labels and no trip to the Post Office required as SDC has an electronic feature to validate delivery. The cost for a year of SDC for all of the features described above is less than what paid Pitney Bowes eight years ago. This cost does not count the small cost of the labels. We are not paying an individual $15.00 (or more) an hour to stand in line at the PO for Stamps, have a meter read, or to hand stamp a piece of Certified Mail. Client satisfaction is more difficult to measure. ONION #1 SDC only tests their software to work on HP printers. We have a Kyocera C4035E high-speed scanner/copier/printer and cannot configure it to print envelopes with SDC. The KYO-CERA does print MS OFFICE envelopes without a problem. Hey, how about a wider array of printers that small business is likely to use? ONION #2 We charge back postage expense to some clients. While the system allows us to print the mail log to an EXCEL spreadsheet, it does not have the look of the Screen Shot one obtains when searching the print history. EXCEL spreadsheets look homemade, not professional. Anyone who ever used EXCEL certainly knows of the potential for of formula errors. Good luck with these jokers. I was a customer when the company was new and found it extremely useful... monthly cost $4.95 for sending 4-5 Priority Mail a month. It wasn't cost effective, but it was still worth it. The price went up, not as much shipping and I struggled through the USPS website. Business fell and I cancelled several years ago. But I got an email promotion to from Stamps.com which included a free scale and went for it. I put it on my calendar and called to cancel before my trial was up, and was offered another free month. Sucker that I am, I went for it. Again, I cancelled on time. This time they offered to move me to the $ 9,95 plan. I explained I rarely used the service and that I wanted to cancel. Now they hooked we with the FREE shipping only plan for FREE. I swallowed the bait again. Then I noticed my account balance was going down . Four months they had charged me to the tune of $60. I called again, got an okay to cancel and waited on hold. the supervisor would call back in 24 hours. Okay. My first clue was the supervisor who did not call in 24 hours, said she had tried to reach me. Maybe it was a psychic connection, 'cause there was no record on my phone. Told the same story, so sorry, etc. Condescending, actually. Told my story and said I only signed up for the promotion. She asked if she could pull the phone calls and get back with me in 5 days. I mentioned that I didn't know what happened, but that my conversation was correct... and added I didn't know if they were on commission, or not, but... Like a flash, all of a sudden the supervisor saw some hidden notes and offered to credit my bank account. Not being dumb enough to question that, I went for it. It is in my account. I am hoping they don't find a way to reverse it. To top it all off I had received this email a week ago. "Thank you for contacting Stamps.com Customer Care. The purpose of this e-mail is to inform you that we have waived your regular service fee for 1 month(s)" The amount had already been taken out of my account that same day for that month. It seems "cancellation" is a sales department, as well. I believe that stamps.com has deceptive business practices. When I asked the first woman I talked to for a direct number to the supervisor, she said it would be the main phone number. Obviously not a huge organization. I checked with BBB.org, but the Los Angeles chapter has had some problems of its own and unable to provide a report at this time.. I will be calling STAMPS.com again to be sure that I am CANCELLED. This company used to be headquartered in Santa Monica, but now have apparently moved to the low rent district of El Segundo. I CAN'T UNDERSTAND THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS SEEN HERE!! This service is very useful and convenient for businesses that mail a significant amount of parcels, letters or postcards. It is not useful to a single person who only sends the occasional parcel or letter. PRO: First of all, you get a month free trial with I believe $5 free postage. Also, you don't HAVE to pay $15.99 a month; there is a $9.99 a month option (you will not be able to use the software with this option, I explain this a little more below). When you sign up, they send you TWO $10 free postage coupons to use after your free trial has expired, so essentially, the first two months pay for themselves if you choose the $9.99 a month subscription, which you can opt out of at any time. If you want to opt out, just call customer service before your next billing cycle begins (1 month after you first signed up). What is great is you will never have to buy a book of stamps again! As far as I know, there are no other websites that you can print out 49¢ stamps for first class letters. Simply buy #10 envelopes, and print. It's as easy as that. IN MY EXPERIENCE, THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS OUTSTANDING! I've called twice and emailed twice for assistance, and the representatives were very personable, knowledgeable, friendly and were able to address my questions without any problems. CONS: The only problem is that there appears to be no software for Apple. If you only use a Mac, I could see where this would be a problem. However, you can still get a USPS 10 lbs postal scale fairly cheap on eBay and manually enter the weight. When using a Mac, the other problem would be that you would have to manually enter the tracking number, for example if you were sending something on eBay, which would be taken care of automatically with a $15.99 monthly fee and a PC with the software. But, again, if you're using the service primarily for first class letters or postcards, you wouldn't need tracking anyway. FINAL VERDICT: If you are a business that sends mass parcel postage, and you have a PC, choose the $15.99 option so you can use the software to automatically upload tracking numbers and use their postage scale with usb so the weight is automatically uploaded. This is simply a matter of convenience. If your business primarily sends lots of letters or postcards, choose the $9.99 a month option; you won't need a scale as long as the letter is 1 ounce or less, and, again, tracking numbers aren't important. THERE IS NO DISCOUNT FOR 49¢ STAMPS, SO THIS IS ONLY USEFUL IF YOU SEND A LOT OF POSTAGE; AGAIN, IT'S A MATTER OF CONVENIENCE. I came here to write a review of Stamps.com & was surprised to see all the negative reviews here. I use Stamps.com for two separate businesses. - Added note here - I noticed that the MAJORITY of the bad reviews are from private individuals trying to save trips to the post office. But if you read through the reviews you'll see that the GREAT reviews are from businesses like ours who use Stamps.com for a business -with a lot of varied postage needs. When you compare to the other business option... Pitney Bowes... Stamps.com gets an A+++++++ and Pitney Bowes gets an F minus!! Here are the reasons we've chosen Stamps.com. 1. VERY AFFORDABLE: We used to use Pitney Bowes with a meter for all our varied postage needs. I would NEVER recommend Pitney Bowes to anyone - they lock you in to a 5 year lease that you cannot get out of. Their equipment lease is very expensive. They do not have any kind of tracking option - it's basically a postage printing machine. We were spending about $100 per month for machine + ink ribbons etc. Our monthly costs as a result of our move from Pitney Bowes to Stamps.com has gone from $100 a month to $20 a month, including net stamps purchase (we use forever stamps for all our regular 1st class mail.) 2. YOU CAN PRINT VARIED RATE POSTAGE: I don't think that USPS has this option - Yes, you can print shipping labels (which you can do with USPS & with Stamps.com) - but to just print a variety of "stamps" with different values, this is very easy to do with stamps.com. Yes, you do have to buy their Net stamps - but they aren't that expensive, when you compare with Pitney Bowes costs. You can also order stamps from USPS and cobble together the postage you need for any given mail. But we have found stamps.com unsurpassed in this ability to print any postage rate on a "stamp" -- when you don't want to print out a big huge shipping label. 3. YOU CAN CLASSIFY YOUR POSTAGE SPENDING: If you need to classify your postage spending - i.e. X amount for a certain Department, then this is very easy to set up with Stamps.com. This feature might be available on USPS - I don't know for sure....but this is one feature we really like with Stamps.com 4. YOU AREN'T LOCKED INTO A LONG CONTRACT: Most of the folks with bad reviews said they had trouble getting out of their Stamps.com contract - I'm sure they could make it easier to cancel... but having a "cancel anytime" service is SO much better than Pitney Bowes 5 year locked in lease. The one-star raters are coming from stupid people with unrealistic expectations. While the free trial is free, ya still gotta pay for the supplies needed during your free trial. Stamps.com is one of the original Internet postage printing businesses. Before, there were only a couple options like Pitney Bowes with expensive and bulky printing machines, very expensive monthly rates, and very little flexibility. All (as far as I know) postage printing businesses require a monthly fee and sell their own blank stamps (another source of income in addition to the monthly fee). I have found Stamps.com to be the least expensive. Stamps.com and Endicia (formerly Dazzle) are the only practical games in town, but Stamps.com is definitely superior. For a while, a strategic relationship between Endicia and Dymo (printers) allowed me to print postage for free, BUT I had to purchase special "blank" stamps. That is history now; one has to buy blank stamps from Endicia (or generic stamps and still pay Endicia extra $); with Stamps.com you have to use their blanks. The blank stamps from Stamps.com are about half the price of Endicia's. I only pay $8/month because I have been a member since 1999 and was allowed to continue on as a basic member with some limitations. Endicia does allow one to create their own custom printing labels -- but only if you can figure out their convoluted design option; these "personally designed labels are often / usually not in compliance with USPS regulations). Getting a refund from Stamps.com for misprinted / unused stamps or postage labels is a piece of cake and uneventful; Endicia is a different story. I do not think they offer refunds for misprinted postage; at least I _know_ they didn't when I was using the Dymo-Encicia plan. Stamps.com tech support is superior to all of them -- and they are easily available. With Endicia, ya gotta wait on hold a very long time; go thru 4-5 people who are competent enough to understand the question; and then a few more techies to find one with the right answer or a couple with the same (verified) answer. And ya never know if they provided the right answer until one hangs up and finds out the hard way -- and then ya have to start all over again. I believe Stamps.com has better printer support, or did when I was using both services: one for business (Stamps.com) and one for personal stuff (Endicia). I love Stamps.com. They have always been so helpful with any issues and have always been professional, I rarely have to wait more than 2 - 4 minutes for them to answer and the 800 number is under the HELP tab on the software. I think I've only needed to call them 3 - 5 times in the past 3 yrs. I have an online store and ship almost everyday. When I drop my packages off at the Post Office and I see the line of people waiting it makes me even more grateful. That alone makes it worth the $15.99 per month. I also save in postage. If I ship via USPS online I can not ship 1st Class with a tracking number, only Priority. I would have to go to the Post Office and stand in line. No time for that! If you only ship 3 - 4 packages a week and you ship Priority, then Stamps.com might not be for you. With Stamps.com I can also check the delivery status of all the past weeks shipments on one page. I can download shipping reports, print stamps, ship Overnight and International. Personally I think their software is user friendly, but then I have used them for about 3 yrs now. Another plus, I can email my customers a Prepaid label if needed, or if my mother who is 86 yrs, needs to ship me something, all she has to do is weigh it and I can email her a label so she does not have to stand in line. Personally I am very surprised at the negative reviews posted here. I am not affiliated, nor do I profit from Stamps.com, this is solely a personal review. Since I also ship Internationally that is also user friendly. Pre Stamps.com I had to hand write the addresses and contents, etc., not very professional looking. The program does that for me in USPS approved formats. On heavy packages, I am able to see what type of container is the most cost effective. If I packaged it up and took it to the Post Office, I don't know if I'm shipping the most cost effective or not. After I've stood in line, I wouldn't want to take it home and re-package it. I print the labels on my printer, no added equipment needed. However I may eventually upgrade to a label type printer. I think I've covered everything. Personally I would not be very efficient without Stamps.com and plan to use them for years! Most days I don't even have to go to the post office, I just prepare my packages and give them to the mailman. If I have a late order, then I will take them to the Post Office. Used stamps.com for a number of years for my business. Volume started to increase, and that is where I ran into limitations/problems with stamps. Main issues: - Software wasn't always stable, slow. Shipstation (which I use now) requires only a web browser and it is lightning fast - Software integration with ecommerce platforms is murky. I use magento (which is a pretty huge open source platform) and their 'plugin' requires special scripts that no other magento vendor requires. Turns out they don't even make the script (it's outsourced) and don't support it. Shipstation is certified to work with my platform and is supported - Don't like the way re-prints are handled. With shipstation - it creates a PDF that allows you to print all/some of the labels as many times as you want. There have been instances when the stamps.com software said it printed, but nothing hit my printer, and I was unable to reprint. What results is a lot of 'refund' requests. I had to cancel postage once with shipstation. - Shipstation uses multiple vendors for postage, and automatically will choose the vendor with the lowest price. If you ship thousands of packages, even a 75 cent difference adds up. - International shipping, automatically fills out the customs forms - Did I say better ecommerce integration? I an easily create manual orders and it will tap into database of customers automatically. Stamps.com is ideal for someone that does very light duty shipping and needs some plug ins for amazon,ebay, etc. For the most basic shipping, USPS has free software that does the same thing. However stamps.com is outdated software and if you are using for business with high volume - it is not ideal. Finally, when I cancelled they just didn't cancel, they said use some of the rebate coupons (which require additional months of service. I also had a balance - which I wanted back. The rep initially gave me some crazy time - like 6 months or a year to get my money back. I said BS I want it back now. Close the freakin' account. It seems stamps.com has major issues communicating their monthly fee - if they just say ' i agree to pay x a month' when you install the software it would get rid of a lot of complaints. Also, let the user cancel from within the software instead of having them call. It puts a bad taste in peoples mouth. read more

This business makes my mail-order web site operate efficiently, with regard to shipping products to customers! I also use if for personal mailings, but its primary use is for shipping goods from my retail web site to destinations all over the globe. I even get a discounted shipping rate through them, due to my having a commercial account and using USPS as my shipper. While $15.99 a month might seem like a lot of money for someone who does nothing but mail snail-mail letters and cards to family and friends, that price is an incredible bargain for a business, as compared to having to lease and use a postage meter. For example, at Christmas time, I used to have to stand in long post office lines, twice daily, while shipping my daily web sales. Since I began using stamps.com, my packages are all ready to go, the moment I carry them into the post office lobby. All I do is walk up to the counter, say "These are metered and all ready to go!," and set them down on the counter. I'm all the way back home, by the time I would have reached the counter, from the end of the long line in the post office lobby. Another great feature is that if you ship internationally, the stamps.com software takes care of all of the details for you! It even creates and prints out a customs declaration form, as part of the shipping label. For either domestic or international shipments, the stamps.com software keeps extremely accurate postal and shipping records that I can use in case my tax returns ever get audited by the IRS. And if a customer doesn't receive his/her shipment, it's easy to go to the USPS web site and see what happened to the missing package. In all my years of using stamps.com and the USPS as my sole shipper, I've lost a total of four parcels, out of over 10,000 shipments. I think most of the negative comments here are from people who never bothered to read and follow the details that are clearly provided on the stamps.com web site. As a web business operator myself, I'm well aware how few site visitors ever bother to read almost anything at all. If you bother to read the details, you'll find that stamps.com is possibly not a great service for a home user, but for any business that's heavily based on mailing products, it simply doesn't get any better than stamps.com! read more

I have been using STAMPS.COM since 1998 in my home-based business. I ship out-of-country quite often and using this service has saved me a ton of time and travel; not having to head to the US Post Office for drop-off foreign shipments. Shipping in the CONTUS is as easy as printing and affixing the label and placing in the mailbox. In the past, prior to using this service, I would have to go through the lengthy process of hand completing custom forms, using the USPO's clear plastic stick on envelope and insert several forms, before I could drop it off. Everything shipped is picked up right here at my office by the mailman. Using this service, I simply generate the label, and at that time click the "International" button to very easily enter weights, simple description(s), and click print. The labels are printed on a Zebra printer, but one can simply use a LaserJet or inkjet printer. I do not have to bother with inserting the USPO required multiple forms, I simple peel and stick on the STAMPS.CON generated shipping label. Yes, I pay a monthly fee, but I believe you have the option not to pay the fee. The fee permits me some benefits, one being not printing the postage costs on the label. I amortize the costs associated with shipping supplies, and handling, if I choose to do so. For me in my business the $15.99 fee is peanuts to a business that see several thousands in shipping costs using US Mail, UPS, and FedEx. Refunds for mis-printed or my input errors are simple. You simply click "Refund", select the label that was incorrect, click the certification button, and in a day or so the refund appears in your monthly account and is deducted from any payments owed. Lastly is the cool ability to print standard peel-and-stick stamps, or print directly on an envelope. Not only can I print a full page of stamps, but I can also generate a special stamp for heavier items. Best thing about stamps is that I get a discount over what the USPO charges for these. I read here that someone did not know for over a year about the $15.99 monthly fee. Don't you ever read your monthly statement from STAMPS.COM? Their customer service is superb and if I goof on something, they are right there to help and often are generous in their refunds. read more

Two very positive experiences with Stamps.com: (1) I am a very senior citizen with impaired mobility with a career in computer programming in the U.S. Dept. of Defense. I shipped to a small college my late partner's library of fifty boxes of books by USPS Media Mail (USPS limit each box 25 lb) during the Christmas rush. It was virtual paradise or nirvana to produce the shipping labels at home, apply them to the boxes, and have a hired helper carry them into the Post Office and drop them off, without standing in line for all the processing. I have had Stamps.com for years as sort of a luxury I indulged in for printing stamps and occasionally preparing a Priority Mail item to have picked up at my front door. The experience of the books made it worth all the years before and since, in which I paid for the software usage. (2) The newest version of Stamps.com with the 1/2 ¢ addition to first class letters, etc. would not install on my Win 7 laptop with Vipre antivirus. On two successive days, customer assistance agents at Stamps.com spent a total of nearly eight hours total for two days, on line and on the phone with me, trying to get it installed. The second day, the representative was very knowledgeable about Vipre and, with the remote takeover of my computer via Windows 7, tried all sorts of things, like appending URLs of Stamps.com to allow Vipre to recognize them, cleared or set all sorts of flags which might be blocking the installation, etc., all to no avail. In this situation, Vipre was seemingly intractable for my purposes. That vendor probably had a solution but it was too inconvenient to incorporate them into this situation while it was happening. Stamps.com agent then volunteered to arrange with the supervisor the next day in a slack traffic period, a session to try some other things. I would have had to stay continuously on the computer all day, so I was in a quandary. Then I tried installing it on a new Win 7 Professional system, which is going to get Win 10, with currently another brand of antivirus, and the installation worked like a charm, so no need for another session with Stamps.com. I am a bookseller...someone who mails out almost daily and relying on a good company which stamps.com is...is like having a partner in business that only charges me pennies and gives me not only a good customer service base but an excellent way to not have to go to the post office daily. You are just that to me in my small mom-pop on-line book company. I JUST RELY ON IT WORKING. I can totally understand the USER FRIENDLY term when I'm dealing with Stamps.com and when there is a small problem, I so far have gotten intelligent people who KNOW WHAT MY PROBLEMS ARE EVEN BEFORE I DO. No misunderstood language problems, so far, and I am so grateful because I'm one of those people who don't hear too well and so rely on an intelligent service person who knows his/her product and can walk me through a method of recouping. I recently had an excellent encounter with Jon Paul H. in LA and he never lost his temper, was someone who actually, I felt. was interested in helping me through an international postage problem...he functioned 100% and we need to clone him. (I just wish he wanted to become a bookseller)..... Also I had another nice encounter only 10 days ago with a lady named Sharon. My lack of understanding a simple click, saved me time and she was nice also. I spent 10 minutes with her and she got it done super fast and then my business functions so well now with people like Jon Paul and Sharon. The only thing I know when dealing with new computers is frustration is we out here in la la land are not computer savvy in most cases and the PATIENCE AND ACTUAL ENDURANCES OF YOUR CUSTOMERS SERVICE PEOPLE ALLOWS US TIME TO LEARN AS WE GO AND LESS CALLS TO STAMPS WHEN WE HAVE A PROBLEM...THAT IS MONEY IN YOUR BOTTOM LINE TOO. TRAINING THESE TYPES OF INTELLIGENT PEOPLE is #1 priority IMO...which means IN MY OPINION, as you know. As an ex-postal employee of 18 years, who was unceremoniously disposed of in one of their cost-cutting pogroms (I was #2 on the seniority scale in our region), I have had plenty of opportunity to witness the gross inefficiencies and incompetence of the USPS over the years--even my getting a degree in Postal Management on my own nickel wasn't enough to either to save my job, or qualify me for management; apparently, all they required was a male appendage and adequate sick leave accrued. I must say, I am overwhelmed with admiration at Stamps.com! The employees I have interacted with have been courteous, professional and eager to help, the instructions and software have been easy to use and install, and top-notch, with no glitches--unlike the many problems we had with software in the P.O., I had no difficulties at all printing my stamps, and I love the bonuses! I really like all the bennies, too, amazingly, far more services than the Postal Service provides! You can even get a USPS OR UPS OR Fed EX pickup at your home! The little postal scale and my initial labels cost me less than $10, and I got triple that with free coupons! PLUS the small discount on first-class postalge! Hey, I'll grab it back from the PO any way I can! They only owe me about 25 more years of working life, plus the retirement they cheated me out of! That's a lot of discounts! The rate charts and info are amazing, with enough information for any businessman, and plenty to satisfy the average home user. This is a perfect solution for a small business person like myself, who can't afford a big postage meter set-up right now. I don't understand all the negative reviews about STAMPS.com. When has anyone ever signed up to do a free trial without being aware that they will have to opt out after 30 days OR continue to be billed monthly for the service? This is the UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE and I doubt very much, (and know from experience), that they DO offer First Class shipping online. In addition, EVERY time you print a label you are asked if you would like a trial label to print to ensure all is correct BEFORE you are charged for the actual postage amount. In the event you have not printed a trial label and you find an error, there are clear cut instructions on how to apply for a credit. Lastly, if you feel the monthly charge is too much, you can simply ask to drop down to a lower rate. I went from a $15.99 plan per month to a $9.99 plan with a simple phone call that lasted approximately 4 minutes. It sounds like "the complainers" just didn't take the time to READ about the program and the services available through it! If they had, they would have realized STAMPS.com provided a FREE TRIAL MONTH plus provided free postage in the amount of $10 for the following 4 months. In my situation that meant I gained 4 cents over the period of 5 months and had $50 in free postage. The Post Office isn't open when I can find someone to take me there since I am disabled and no longer drive. The mere fact that I can complete every function the Post Office does, from my desk, is of the utmost importance and ever so convenient! Additionally, I don't have to carry bulky packages nor stand in long lines. Another plus allows me to purchase everything I need for mailing from forms to bubble envelopes and boxes which are delivered to my home by the regular mail person. When I started with the program I was given a 20% off coupon for anything in the long list of supplies available through the Post Office "store". Overall, STAMPS.com, has made my life easier and as of yet, I've found nothing to complain about. read more

Let me begin by stating that I feel sure that Stamps.com provides a most useful service for people to get official USPS postage through their home PCs and for printing the postage on their home printers. My wife and I understand that any business, large or small, that has a number of mailings that must be made in the normal course of business every day, that that business, I say, should find Stamps.com most useful. As retired senior citizens in our mid 80s living here in South Jersey very near Philadelphia, the two of us have extremely limited need for making any mailings at all. E-mails are what my wife, in her wonderful way, keeps in touch with our two married children in their 50s and our four adult and near-adult grandchildren. Our son and family live across the continent in California, right near San Francisco. Our daughter and her professor husband met in grad school at the University of Pennsylvania, and have since then for over two decades lived across the Atlantic in Florence, Italy. They also have a son and daughter, both adults. Our business mailings, such as quarterly municipal property taxes, county sewer taxes, water bills, landscape bills, monthly Visa payments, and estimated federal taxes are all done digitally. So, since we are not running a business, we seldom have any use for postage at all. My signing up for Stamps.com was my mistake for not reading carefully enough and for not paying close-enough attention, which I finally realized, when I saw our latest Visa bill with the $15.99 charge and noting the potential for continuing monthly charges that we do not need. When I received the Stamps.com packet, I was surprised and did not expect it. As explained, we simply had no use for it. The technical support representative of Stamps.com was both EFFICIENT and UNDERSTANDING in working through our concerns. We apppreciated her and the Stamps.com team. By the following business day, our Visa account was already credited with a "Goodwill Adjustment." read more

The Stamps.com software and access to a "live" knowledgeable person should there be any issues has been invaluable to managing our shipping costs. We tried using the other USPS providers service (USPS has a relationship with 2 providers) and Stamps.com was superior in all 3 areas (monthly service fee, software and customer service/support). In reading the negative reviews here, I can't help but wonder if the reviewers are casual shippers with little experience with shipping or other software programs. Every software program (Stamps.com, UPS Worldship, Fed-ex etc) will have some issues. We use all 3 so can speak from 1st hand experience. What one should look for is "how good is the customer support". We have found that in this area Stamps.com far exceeds their USPS competition and equals that of the big guys (UPS and Fed-ex). Also "reading is fundamental". Realizing that our culture encourages an "it's someone else's fault" attitude, it would be very difficult for anyone to sign you up for an account without your knowledge nor should complaining result in a refund (although I see that Stamps does on occasion.) Oh I know, I know, the "customer" is always right. But really, let's be honest. Sometimes the customer is just looking for a freebie or for someone else to take responsibility especially when $$'s are involved. If fraud is involved (someone stole you credit card information and then used it a month or so later to open a Stamps.com account) than posting a one sided account would not be the way to effectively resolve the issue. But I digress; we have been using Stamps.com for over 2 years now and have been very happy with both the product and the customer service. Although we still use Fed-ex and UPS for our larger sized packages, we have shifted the majority of our small packages to USPS.
