We have seen continuous erosion in the basic care to the point where all they do is write on the damn ipad, fill in blanks and move you along. They don't care about anything. You cannot get through on the phone. They never call with lab results...honestly its been a year waiting on blood work, urinalysis and the other tests from my illness last spring. I cant take off work to go there, but don't worry, if you owe them a $20 copay that got declined they hound you night and day. Originally our PCP was Joe Garvey, He became President and CEO, okay we get that, then they gave us Epstein who about 18 months ago "was not a PCP anymore and we can't talk about it"! What is that? Now we have no PCP...we are in a pandemic with no PCP and there is nobody to talk to. You wait 9 months for a physical. I'm 65 now so this is an issue. Today they call to reschedule it with no reason. I ask about the results of my last lab work, she says she can transfer me to the people who can help me. I tell her its been a year. She says well they are working remote. Like that is an intelligent response. So she transfers me, it rings non stop for 17 minutes with nobody picking up then you guessed it...it disconnects me. These people and this Group are incompetent. All they care about is getting your money.

The deferred care was due to my travel schedule and that was on me. What is on them, however was a rigorous schedule of PT which I was devoted to that made my symptoms feel worse. The doctor there whose name escapes me, sent me to PT. After many many weeks, I went back to the physician, whose office is located right in the same building tells me he has no plan to fix the problem, but merely to deal with the symptoms. Back to the PT itself: the first visit was very thorough and attentive. Subsequent visits were basically feeling like one is on his or her own - you sign in and people are available if you have questions but in most cases, nobody's really checking to see if you're doing things properly or risking further injury. I went for many many weeks, always on time. Always early to check in on a very long line. My early appointments meant that I was one of just a handful of patients yet the one time I was online for an additional time causing me to get to the window. About five minutes late, they refused my appointment. That was kind of the last straw for me. They lost me as a patient and I would not recommend them unless they have made major changes to patient oversight/assistance during and throughout the physical therapy sessions, and get back to health and not wealth.

From the moment I arrived, I was quickly swept up in the smooth and caring processing and care of hospital staff: after a thorough preliminary exam, I was soon transferred to the hospital itself for 24 hours of careful and thoughtful treatment. I was deeply moved by the kind attention of every member of their staff and the warm dynamic they employed. Discharged yesterday, I am now slowly returning to normal thanks to the unquestioned care of this fine institution and dedicated staff. Sunday night (2/1/26) around 11pm I was driven to the ER with horrible pain in my stomach and back…read more With some work done, I found out I had a ton of gallblader stones at approximately 1cm each. They kept me a few hours, told me I needed it removed but couldn't that day because my gallbladder wasn't inflamed or infected..... sent me home with Tylenol when I felt like I was literally d*ing. They told me if the pain came back, to come back. Pain came back worse a few hours later and I called for an ambulance this time. I get to Vassar and the 1st surgeon comes in and tells me they are definitely doing surgery. Gets me hooked up with an IV and leaves telling me he's going to talk to the other surgeons. Later on, a female surgeon comes in to tell me they will not be doing surgery because it's an elective due to gallbladder not being inflamed or infected. Another surgeon comes in before discharge and tells me I need to call 2 days later and setup an appointment for gallblader removal that my gallbladder is bad and needs to come out and that if I experience anymore pain, to come back and "they will remove it." They did give me morphine and it made the pain go away but I knew the problem was worse than they were making it out to be. My white blood cells were also elevated and that was due to me being in "pain." I left and went straight to Greenwich hospital. Which they did their own ultrasounds and found out that my gallbladder is in fact inflamed, infected and needs to be taken out ASAP without any question. They actually couldn't understand how I was discharged from Vassar under the conditions of my gallbladder. I had my gallbladder removed last night 2/2/26 and Greenwich did a phenomenal job!!! I will never go to Vassar hospital ever again. They dismiss and they do not care about their patients. They sent me home with an infected and inflamed gallbladder. Words cannot describe how I feel but I am happy that I went to another hospital that actually cares about their patients.

He does not push surgery even though he has the highest credentials as a surgeon. He is upbeat and thorough. He may crack some corny jokes, which I enjoy. He has written a book on how to take care of your spine so you won't need surgery. I've revised it in Amazon. I'm a big fan of this doctor. I highly recommend him. I see some negative reviews here on yelp which may have to do with scheduling. I have on occasion had to wait a long time in the waiting room but that's because he stays with each patient until every question has been answered. So far we are monitoring my stenosis and have not done surgery, but when and if I need it, I would insist on using him as my surgeon.
