I dropped the trailer at a rest area and started calling motels/hotels. The wonderful lady who answered the phone was willing to help. I grew up in Bismarck, ND and was very thankful for her kindness, which is exhibit by most ND people. It was 1:00 am. The next morning I've arranged everything with family and friends back in Bismarck to get the trailer fixed. I needed 1 more hour and went to ask, but this is why it gets 1 star. The male owner unloads on me. "I can't believe my wife checked you into the motel with 6 people and a dog." "Is it my fault your vehicle broke down?!" "What are you doing traveling at 1:00 am with a family anyway?!" "You may NOT staying another hour." He said this as he CAME AROUND THE COUNTER AT ME. That's a great way to treat a guest, isn't it? He does NOT exemplify a true ND attitude. Most people are understanding, like the wife. Is it my fault I broke down? Is it my fault his wife checked me in? Is it any of his business about how I raise my family? This move is an exception, not a rule. We are moving, tired and thought we had found some nice people. I was 1/2 right. Dogs are not allowed on the property. I wasn't told that. In summary, he was on the verge of violence, he was angry, he was demeaning, he was rude, he was inconsiderate....what is he doing running a motel? NEVER STAY HERE!!

I like not having to go to the front desk to do a formal check in, and I was able to go directly to my room without any issues. Comfy room, spacious. I really like the set up of this hotel; the elevator is in a convenient spot and the pool is right next to it also. The pool is heated which was so nice and I loved the hot tub. My only complaint other than the shower was that the usb plug next to the bed wasn't working so charging my phone was a pain (I forgot the wall charger part in the car). Overall, I'd stay again for sure.

We went back to the front desk and they took care of us - getting us a new room (which was actually an upgrade)! They said they would refund us completely and after calling them and connecting with Expedia (I booked the room through Expedia) I received a full refund. Unmatched customer service. As far as the Home2Suites hotel goes, the room we had was large and clean. We were only there for one night, but there was an entire living room in addition to the king suite and bathroom. If I have to nit pick something, the soap dispenser in the shower was empty and the extra bedding was missing pillowcases (I like a bed full of pillows). Not even worth taking a star away because the customer service was just outstanding. Breakfast was great in the morning, who doesn't love waffles?! Hot coffee, oatmeal, bagels and toast, fruit, and cereal. Overall, a wonderful stay.

The second week, a regular two-bed room but both have been comfortable. Even the smaller room has enough space in it to spread out and I've done that as I have entirely too much stuff in this suitcase! Small single-cup coffee maker, microwave, mini-fridge. A decent work desk with enough power outlets. The wifi has worked well, even during the usual evening slow times. I have not used the fitness area or the pool, but the business center was well stocked. I have had breakfast here a couple of times and it is consistent with the Hampton brand - something with eggs (scrambled or an omelet), a breakfast meat (bacon or ham or sausage) plus bread for toasting, juices, fresh fruit, yogurts and such. It's a decent hot breakfast. The room has been mostly quiet with no noise from the nearby interstate. Some hallway noise - I wish they had installed slow-close doors on all of the rooms. Housekeeping has done a good job of resetting the room and restocking towels and the like. There is a restaurant/bar next door and a supermarket within walking distance. Plenty of parking. I would stay here again. Uh, I *have* stayed here again. [Review 10672 overall, 440 of 2019.]

Folks frequently comment about noise in hotels - and that's due to jerks staying in a hotel more than anything. Hotels can only be so sound proof. A nice touch is a room in which you can set the AC to where the room is cool (ours was perfect) but the best part is being able to force the fan to continue running when the room gets to temp. That's the way it was here and we heard nothing at all during our entire stay due to our choice for the background noise! We don't know when we will be in Bismarck again, but if we are, I can guarantee we will stay HERE! Thanks again to the staff, management and owners. :-)

If this is reading slightly melodramatic, well, I'm still not over my excursion to hell, but in all…read morereality, if you skip this entire review, don't skip this part. This hotel is not worth spending ANY money on. The broken AC is "being worked on," the breakfast should be skipped because even the rats avoid it, and the customer service is beyond lousy. Your shower won't drain; you might not have the bare minimum towels, and the employee is always right here. Customers be damned. Literally. I didn't take pictures because hell is kind of like a vampire. It doesn't show up in photos. Now that I've had my witty literary reference, please let me stress that no one ever stay here. We called ahead after booking to ask questions, and mistakenly forgot to ask if their air conditioner was working because obviously that is everyone's first assumption when booking a hotel that their air conditioner is BROKEN! We also forgot to ask if they had enough towels for all guests in the hotel at that time, so we were shocked to find that no, they could not accommodate that need unless someone else graciously returned them, and they were able to wash them. Now why, did I not ask these questions that everyone always asks every hotel because it should not be assumed there is a working air conditioner and enough towels for all guests? Perhaps having a traumatic injury and being on crutches had overwhelmed me. Perhaps having our flight canceled had preoccupied my mind. Needless to say, tired, in pain, and without even the hope of a car, we were stuck, so when I asked about the AC and a discount due to the major inconveniences, I expected graciousness not a blow off about how we could simply stay elsewhere. Sadly sans car and with luggage and injury in tow, that was not an option. If you have never walked on crutches it might seem possible, but anyone who has ever traveled with crutches and a fresh injury (happened on the trip) knows that walking a mile to another hotel with luggage in tow simply isn't possible. We were in crisis, and there was no sympathy. The employees at first seemed helpful, but that was only to ensure we stayed, once we had confirmed the room, they returned to their resting state of doing nothing except watching TV on their phones. The room was a balmy 85°F WITH the portable AC that I was told was so much trouble to find and set up. I did pull out my inner Karen and insist upon this one luxury that kept the room a step below (Yes, yes, I asked for a discount, but that's because I've been told I'm too nice when people inconvenience me. I HATE causing issues and really do understand things happen, but this felt dirty and underhanded since we HAD called ahead). However, I did not ask for the manager before you blow me as just a complaining Karen. We roasted the night through after showering in a shower that did not drain. We ended up opening the window for air flow, yet to no avail. Through the night, even while sprawled on top of our covers, we sweat as a storm raged outside our OPEN window. Somehow I slept, my friend across the way did not. We awoke early and thought "at least there's breakfast." Now to be honest, I'm not sure what horrors awaited there because I did not go down, remember I'm on crutches, but my friend came back and told me to not bother. Hungry and tired, smelling of sweat and stagnant shower water, we checked out, vowing to never again darken the door of such a rotten hell hole.
