Appreciated that there were some heat lamps available during the evening. I will say that there was a lot of confusion randomly throughout the day that seemed to be an issue with communication. After the wedding the couple wanted to have an after party with some of the guests and had some extra food sent to the main house. I was staying in the meadow house and preparing to get ready for bed, when someone came in saying that the after party was at our house. Apparently there was no communication about not allowing food in the main house, which is understandable; however, folks staying in the house were unaware and it was frustrating to hear that the maid of honor was told to gather the food from the main house herself to the meadow house (which is a steep hike in heels, in the dark, after a long day of participating in the wedding). Thankfully the groom came with a golf cart to help her. It just seemed like pretty poor communication and lack of support, which is highly unfortunate. Adjustments could have been made in advance had folks from the wedding been notified. Guests had fun regardless and those of us who were in the wedding party really appreciated being able to stay on property. The amenities were nice (shower essentials, robes, kitchen essentials, hair dryer, steamer, etc) and we liked being able to stay in property. It provided for a lot of great photo ops. It's such a beautiful venue I'll give it 3 stars, but communication could certainly be improved.

Recommend parking on the street outside the orchard because the parking up the hill to the entrance can barely fit two way traffic and you can get blocked in by other cars.

We brought it with us to the farm, unsure if they'd allow us in with food but they welcomed us with open arms, pie and all! The staff was super nice, greeted us, and pointed our way to the stage area where we had some live music and a little family hoedown. My daughter had soooo much fun dancing together. After that we split off into groups where we experienced many different fun activities including a hayride and sing along, cider pressing and tasting, a painted craft, a small garden activity, and a petting zoo. The cider pressing was very cool, we learned how they make cider with farm grown apples. We heard lots of stories about Johnny Appleseed and how the farm came about. Even some history on Julian and the old goldmines. The hayride also provided lots of cool historical facts, and best part is they delivered it in a way that kept the kiddos entertained. We did have about a 40 min lunch break where we got to explore the property. They have so much to look at, I doubt we saw it all. The staff told us in the beginning of the trip to save some of the acorns we find on the ground to feed the animals. So during lunch my kids enjoyed feeding an adorable little donkey acorns through the fence. They even had a slide next to the bathroom, a tire swing, and quite a few rope swings. The petting zoo was one of the best parts of the trip, they had chickens, ducks, goats, a HUGE pig, and even some mice that we watched run out to grab some acorns. Parking was simple and plenty of space. The workers were very friendly and happy to answer any and all questions. We spent about 4 hours here total which sounds long but went by pretty quickly. My kids and I had a great time and I highly recommend coming to visit. I'm hoping to come back for their Christmas season activities! If you have kids and plan on coming to Julian, definitely give this place a try!

Even though I only stayed inside one unit, the property clearly offers several themed rentals, each with its own character and charm. The setting itself is the real highlight -- peaceful, open, and wonderfully quiet. It's the kind of place you go when you need your brain to slow down. I often stopped by just to sit in the sun, walk the grounds, and enjoy the unexpected bonus... real wild turkeys roaming around. Not decorative -- actual turkeys -- which somehow adds perfectly to the rustic atmosphere. There's also an onsite store (with limited hours, so plan ahead) offering food and drinks. Downstairs is a small thrift shop in what used to be an old saloon -- easily one of the most unique parts of the property and fun to browse. The covered wagon accommodations look especially fun and are on my list for a future stay when I want a quiet escape close to home. Banner Ranch isn't flashy -- it's calm, simple, and restorative. If you're looking for peace, sunshine, and a place to decompress, this is a solid choice. If I could take off half a star I would only because of the limited store hours...however, lets be real....I wasn't there to shop.

However, the on-site manager was unreachable, so we had to find another spot and set up ourselves late at night. When we asked for compensation, we were first offered only 10% off a future stay, then refused any refund on the stay we'd actually paid for, with the host telling us the sites were "nearly identical." The property itself is nice, but paying in full for a site you don't receive, and then being dismissed when you raise it, left a bad impression. Disappointing handling of a problem that wasn't our fault.
