We hosted our Christmas party here, and the home created the most magical atmosphere imaginable; elegant yet welcoming, grand yet warm. We had our wedding here two weekends ago. The actual house and views were fabulous. Communication with the staff, items in the house like towels etc missing, dirty floors, broken ovens and freezers were just some of the issues we ran into. They need to figure out how to cater to large events and put new people on their preferred vendors list. The photographer and catering on their list both did not do a great job and did not communicate well. Thank goodness for our event planner who we hired outside of their preferred vendors list! She saved the event. I recommend this venue if you have an event planner that can communicate for you, as it was very stressful to not have communication from them and their employees all had different answers about questions we had before our big day. read more

We rented the Chateau for a family reunion to celebrate my Mom's 100th birthday. The mansion is amazingly beautiful, and so large you could almost get lost in it! The rooms are all beautiful with en suite bathrooms, and everyone in our group raved about the comfort of the beds! The views from every corner of the house were breath taking, as there are so many balconies and large windows! The huge kitchen allowed for us to all cook together, and the younger generation loved having the downstairs game room to hang out in! Check in and out was a breeze, and the host William was so accommodating and friendly! We are already planning our trip back next year, and we will make it a new tradition! Needs a good cleaning. Beautiful grounds for a wedding, but over all the place needs a deep cleaning and all new bedding and mattresses.

I would not recommend this place!! The owner does not and will not care about you or your guests. We stayed here with family for a wedding and on the first night, the gas was broken! Which meant no heater, no hot water, no stove to cook on - mind you this is during winter when temp dropped to 30 degrees at night! The owner did not take immediate steps to take care of it, but instead had it taken care of the following day in the afternoon! How could you let your guests suffer like that?? Negligence! You had plenty of time to check the house prior to our arrival, but you failed to do that simple task. TERRIBLE OWNER! Then during the wedding rehearsal and wedding day, there was this guy who we were told was the property manager (then claimed to be the owner??) that was walking around and RECORDING us! Um hello?! First of all, this is a PRIVATE event with family and friends and you had the audacity to let your "property manager" crash the bride and groom's special day when he was not invited! THEN you had him record us WITHOUT our consents?!? To top it off, this guy starts barging into people's rooms, WITHOUT KNOCKING, and RECORDING people in the rooms, and even went into the bridesmaids room!! How disgusting are you?! That's was totally inappropriate and our family felt VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. Then during the wedding reception, the power went out!! The DJ's booth, Photo Booth, and lights all went out because of a broken outlet that was broken 2 days prior then "fixed" and we're told that "it's taken care of" and that it wouldn't be a problem. Wow!! Need I say more?? Please do me a favor and have your wedding/event elsewhere where you deserve to feel special and be TREATED WITH RESPECT. The pictures might look appealing, but don't let that fool you. Your experience here will be a nightmare! read more

They are a scam! They list out their venue for weddings and Airbnb rentals. We attempted to rent their property last year for a family gathering but they day of arrival, Sara's husband which was supposed to be the onsite property manager told us he was not expecting anyone, all his person belongings was scattered throughout the house. The house clearly was not ready to be rented. He told us if we still wanted to stay, we'd have to give him another $2k to pay for the utilities and when I spoke to Sara, she said she had dental bills to pay, so she would not refund our money. They have been scamming people for the last couple of years. Just read all the reviews. Stay away from this venue by all means. read more

Went to a wedding and didn't expect an Amish looking guy walking around watching everything. I thought he might've been a friend at first, but he never associated with anyone and it became obvious pretty fast that he didn't know anyone and was just watching. Apparently, he was supposed to be a manager of the house? Seemed pretty unprofessional and persistent. He was even around during the wedding day! Brother, you shouldn't be there. Also, I came to the house on the second day and there wasn't any hot water. Huh?? There are guests staying here for a wedding! What kind of management is this? Yikes. read more

Professional fun staff, very flexible with vendors, my team has planned several events now at this property as it's the most flexible with allowing outside vendors. Property is also extremely well priced considering the other venues make my clients use their "preferred vendors" which cost an arm and a leg. Has quickly become my go to for brides and corporate events and conferences! I love that we always have comfortable great spacious rooms that all have their own bathrooms and the staff is responsive to any requests any of my clients have had, even unusual or unreasonable ones! I never feel like we are micromanaged during our event and they have a great rain plan :) read more

First off, our coordinator and the property mangers Jessica and Mitchell Chingays, were the best people to work with highly recommended. The will eventually pass off the torch to next couple we also know. First the view and the venue is amazing. Rooms were available to stay for family for the wedding making it really easy. Plus additional beds and pullout couches for excess people staying. Everything was provided and no complications. Except the weather having to rain on our wedding. They had a rain plan ready togo! Familybhad full use of the kitchen and we got down. Big breakfasts, lunch, and dinner. Family had a great time we had greeat time. Terrible experience with the overnight stay, wedding venue, and the property manager. I came here for a family wedding and stayed the night before and my goodness, the problems started as I arrived. I come in an everyone is saying there was NO GAS (no warm showers, no cooking, no heating esp at night), and that there is STILL none a whole day later. They eventually fix it, but there is no compensation. Later, the property manager, a flamboyantly dressed man, comes walking into the property with his phone camera, catching every single person on camera, without explanation. As a father with my young child, i was enraged, but also did not know what the deal was. Maybe spmeone invited him in to do that. NOPE!! I find out later he breached an agreement with renter and recorded, even going into the master bedroom unannounced to record! I am grossed out. He didnt act normal either, which makes it worse. Anyway, continuing, this same manager goes around the next day at the wedding, telling people hes the property OWNER, acting likes hes entitled to be there! Ive had my own wedding at a mansion as well, and the owner and property manager were literally in the background. This guy, on the other hand, is walking around wedding day acting like he's the boss of the whole event in his loud suit and hat. Anyway, it doesnt end there, but overall, this was a terrible and unprofessional experience. read more

Stayed here last week for a wedding, and it was a terrible experience. There was a property manager who went around the house filming with his phone, where the guests were, after he had been told that he couldn't do that. He was also going into all of the bedrooms! The locks on the door did not work too and didn't teach us how to use them. He made my family feel uncomfortable and not safe. He was creepy!! This house was also not ready for a wedding! It was dirty, there were rat traps, dust, bunnies, and spiderwebs. There was also no hand soap, toilet, paper, or paper towel available. And on the first day, there was NO GAS! No warm showers, cooking or heater during the cold night. You would think the owner would want to fix it that day, but he waited until the next afternoon. After our stay, and sharing experience with the owner, we were met with much animosity. He was very unprofessional to work with. He only cared about his reviews. So I would be hesitant to trust any good reviews you read about this venue. I would save the headache for you and your future spouse and find a different venue who is more professional and suited to help plan your wedding with ease. read more

Our family is quite large and had a wedding in Escondido to attend. Instead of renting hotel rooms for the week, we wanted a place that could house all of us. So, we could use the place for a week long family reunion. The Chateau Escondido fit our purposes beautifully. The place has plenty of rooms, bathrooms,and gathering places to make our stay very comfortable. The staff was very responsive to our calls and needs. It's an amazing facility! Though the structure itself and the views were amazing, the service provided at this location were far from the "luxury" standards advertised. Not only was the service  subpar, they showed a blatant disregard for not only our comfort, but our family's safety. I flew from out of the country, as many of my family did, to attend my cousin's wedding. Most of us, including our 95 year old grandmother, live in warmer climates and are not accustomed to the cold. We had both elderly and babies from both sides of the family staying here for the weekend. On day one, we were welcomed with no gas; meaning no heat or warmth in the house in 36° weather at night, no hot water for showers, and no means of cooking for dinner or breakfast the next morning. There were also no basic amenities such as toilet paper or even hand soap provided until we requested for them. The entire facility was far from clean. We set aside the time ourselves to dust and clean cobwebs from different areas. Additionaly, there were rat traps laid out everywhere. Something the children easily could have gotten into if we hadn't spotted them right away. Though the groom reported these concerns immediately, they took their time addressing them and nothing was done until late the next afternoon. No compensation was offered. Note that this booking was made 10 months in advance. This was supposed to be a luxury booking, yet management could not do the simple courtesy of ensuring the facility was ready for use for their paying customers who had booked sufficiently in advance. And somehow this wasn't even the worst of it. The day before the wedding, many guests, including myself, noticed a strange man going room to room throughout the entire house taking videos. He did not announce his presence nor did he knock before entering any rooms. He very easily could have walked in on any of us changing or gone through our belongings when we were not present. We soon found out this was the property manager, though he was going around saying he was the owner when asked. Regardless of if you are the property manager or even the owner, when someone has paid to utilize your facilities they deserve a certain degree of privacy. At the very least the courtesy to announce their presence should they need to do something in the house and to knock before entering rooms people are currently staying in. AND UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES is it okay to RECORD US and most especially OUR CHILDREN and share videos of us WITHOUT OUR PERMISSION. Despite being told to stop, he continued to barge into rooms recording the next day DURING the wedding. These concerns were again brought up to the owner immediately the day after the wedding. However instead of understanding the level of discomfort and lack of safety we were exposed to, he attempted to strong arm the couple into signing a nondisparagement agreement before any attempt to make things right or any discussion of fair compensation. The compensation that was then potentially offered should the couple sign the agreement (they did not) was far from fair. Save yourself the time and trouble and consider one of the many other beautiful venues Escondido has to offer. No view is worth the comfort and more importantly the privacy and SAFETY of your family. read more

I have been a wedding planner for 15 years and I have never in my professional life have had the worst experience with a venue before. Unresponsive, unorganized, unprepared, and uncommunicative. In my experience with this venue I was passed off to at least 5 different people and 3 different phone numbers and emails within a 10 month span. It was a very unprofessional experience. The views may be beautiful but the place is not kept up. There was trash left out around the property when my couple arrived, rusty old paint cans by the front door, piping, broken chairs and other miscellaneous debris on front patio that I spent the day cleaning up before rehearsal dinner began. There was also a broken freezer and oven in the house that my couple had planned on using. No one there has a clue of what the other person is doing. If you plan to get married here, I suggest you do not use their preferred vendors. That was a whole other unpleasant event for the bride and groom. There are so many top notch places to get married in this area- don't put yourself through the headache and stress. read more
