The shop is very small but every surface is covered with a product for sale. They have a tank in the back where live minnows are kept for bait. Some were dead swimming around with the live ones. My son asked some fishing questions to the staff person, and my son loved learning what he had to say. In the end, we bought 2 recommended types of bait (frozen in sealed plastic bags). And received a lot of (priceless) education about products and fish! I feel like the real gem part of this shop is the owner or people who work here, undoubtedly not only avid fisherpeople but also local experts with tons of knowledge about places to go, types of fish around, and all kinds of tips. Being around an expert can be intimidating or welcoming, and this reception fell on the welcoming side, so thank you! We would definitely return.

If you ever want a more personalized experience at West Marine. Go to smaller stores like this one. Was looking for bottom paint since I was redoing my boat. Long story short I thought the website said they had some in stock but It turns out I had the wrong store selected... When I found that out I ended up feeling a little devastated since the only stores that had the paint I was looking for were north palm beach and Ft. Lauderdale. The associate at time was super understanding and helpful. He offered to get the paint transferred overnight! And even said he would pick it up himself if needed. In fact, if you need something for your boat, this is the place to shop. This location in East Delray is one of the smaller locations as compared to some of the much larger stores in Fort Lauderdale, but they have a nice selection and good customer service. In fact I like the guys that work here much better than the staff in Pompano as they are much more knowledgeable. I was going fishing offshore with some family and friends so I came here to buy some safety equipment as in personal EPIRB just in case I fall overboard or the boat sinks 20 miles off shore. I chose the ACR Electronics ResQLink+ Buoyant Personal Locator Beacon for $270 and I hope to never use it, but if I do, it will be a cheap insurance policy for my safety.
