Leitrim but it is completely worth the 10 minute drive to try it out. (Get a taxi, the wine is always good!!) Cosy and warm, open fires and wood Tables, the atmosphere is instantly inviting. I feel that being given bread at the table is a dying offering, rarely do you get handed a basket of nice fresh bread and some cool butter, but here, the owner (a lovely Italian man named Claudio) obviously makes it his passion to have his customers well fed. Warm out of the oven sourdough bread, tomato bread and another herb bread arrive with butter, olive oil and balsamic - yes!! I opted for fresh crab with basil Mayo, Hubbie had scallops with chorizo risotto, divine. Both so fresh and delicious. The amuse Bouche of an espresso cup of beetroot soup was delicious also. Hubbie had steak (surprise!) that was perfectly cooked to order and accompanied with fresh crisp veg and simply boiled baby potatoes, glistening with melted butter -mum I asked for the paella minus cockles and muscles which I don't like and arrived resplendent piled high with local crab claws, king prawns, fresh local white fish and chorizo. We fought over a lemon tart with raspberry sorbets. A bottle of house red was recommended and it went down very well. If you are in the area I highly recommend this restaurant. Homemade bread is presented with starters and the deserts are all homemade too. We had a 5:00 reservation because that was all they had, and we were directed to a dark corner in the bar by the rude hostess (we later learned she owns the place) even though there were three empty tables--two of them still dirty--right by the window. She reluctantly agreed to seat us at one--one of the dirty ones--with this warning: "You will leave at 6. You need to understand that." (PS 6 came and went and no one asked to leave) We never had the same server; various very young servers would drop off things--like the bottle of wine we ordered, already opened, no tasting. They never asked how our dinners were, which was too bad because I was given a butter knife to cut my overdone steak. A steak knife might have actually allowed me to cut through it and eat the thing. They wouldn't take it off the bill because apparently the chef could cut it--do you think he used a butter knife? On our way out we passed a tween happily cutting away on her steak with an actual knife. It's the only restaurant in town and I still wouldn't go back.

We went for the Chefs menu, which was excellent value at 24.95 EUR for three courses. Two courses was 20.95 EUR. To start I went for the Smoked Salmon & Pate, my partner the Ham Hock Terrine. Delicious, both delicious. The salmon especially. Plenty of smoked salmon that was just melt in the mouth. For mains I went for the Slow Roast Pork Belly, my partner the Caribbean Chicken Fricassee. The pork had lots and lots of meat and was cooked perfectly. The accompanying vegetables and jus worked very very well. My partner was really really pleased with his main course. He was still talking about it a few days later. I am sure he will describe it adequately in his review. For wine we picked Old Coach Road, a 2012 Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand, 32 EUR. This worked wonderfully with my meal. We shared a dessert, which you pick from the A la carte menu, even though it part of the Chef menu deal. We picked the Chocolate Brown. Sweet mother divine, so so good. Each dish was presented immaculately. The service was excellent. Siobhan and co were very attentive and friendly to boot. We had a nice albeit brief chat with Siobhan at the end. Brennan's Lane is fantastic. And for 24.95 EUR, excellent value. It was the best meal of our whole week long trip a long the west coast. For starters I had a duck terrine with a plum pickle. It was very nice, with a few pieces of bread it also had another pickle which I cant remember what it was but it was also nice! For my main course I had a Caribbean Chicken Curry with Jasmine rice, I love Caribbean food and this was truly lovely. The chicken was so moist and delicious I have never had its like before. For desert I had a chocolate brownie with a toffee sauce and homemade ice cream a sugar twirl and biscuit crumbs. It was amazing. The food was also substantial which is very unusal, but very welcome. The restaurant was really nice but you do need to go upstairs through a bar which can be busy. But don't let it put you off. The decor upstairs is great and the staff are really really nice. All in all this is the first review for 5 stars which I wish there was a way of putting an extra star or exclamation mark on the review. If you are near here take a trip. Its awesome. My partner also fully enjoyed the evening but I honestly was so engrossed in my own food I cant even remember what she had!

The interior was phenomenally pub forward with dark wood and historic adornments. My pot of mussels were the best I had while in Ireland. The liquor of a broth was perfect. If I lived anywhere near here it would be a weekly stop. If you're in the area do yourself a favor and stop in.
