The most amazing restaurant....every bite was delicious! The servers were so polite and helpful. Certainly a real jewel In Sligo!

The best meal we had in Ireland. Deliciously made dishes, nice variety, good wine menu. Upscale ingredients, well-seasoned. Nice decor.

Ok... 4- in terms of stars (3 star overall experience). It is very clear by the decor that Eala Bhan considers itself to be the "best restaurant" in Sligo. There was a table that was so loud that an elderly couple demanded that they be moved (twice!!). The owner was called by the staff (who was gossiping about them the entire time that we were seated). Anthony -- whose picture adorns many walls in the restaurant -- arrived and surveyed the situation and had the awkward task of poorly controlling the rowdy table. He came around and asked us how we were doing and didn't really even apologize for the ambiance-killing experience that was happening right in front of him. A restauranteur who understands customer service would have made more of an effort to ensure that his customers believed the hype of being called the best restaurant in Sligo. read more

I am going to send this place straight to a seven star rating if I could. Every serving reflected the chef's thoughtful in detail. Lunch ordered: Roast lamb Prawn linguine Dessert: Cortartos + lemon coconut moose All absolutely fabulous! Dinner: Birds Nest seafoods White bone washed lamb chops Seafood duo (slightly bland) All platings were unique and exciting. Five of us went to Eala Bhan while staying in Sligo and had one of the best meals we've had in Ireland, by far. Please refer to the photos to see the meals we had, in addition to a multitude of sides, all of which were delicious, beer, and wine. Eala Bhan doesn't have an enormous menu, but everything they do is superb. Steak, lamb, and fish are creatively and thoughtfully prepared. Portions are perfect, not too big, not too small. Service is professional and attentive without being overly solicitous. The restaurant is on the river and the views of the town are delightful. We were able to eat under an awning outside in case it rained; I'm not sure if indoor dining is available as of the time I'm writing this. Reservations a must. read more

Eala Bhan offers great value, fantastic food and lovely views from its windows over the river. You can get three courses for €20 with the Early Bird offer and the standard of the food at this price is excellent. We were even treated to a lovely little amuse bouche of swede and bacon soup...tres tasty! The fish dish I had was delicious; the salt cod and caper croquette added a nice twist on the classic and the chips were chunky and fluffy and crispy...perfect really! The milk chocolate cheesecake for dessert was devilishly indulgent but lighter than it looked. Would definitely recommend if you happen to find yourself in Sligo town on the banks of the Garavogue hungering for a good meal. read more

We had lunch here earlier this month during a weekend trip to Co. Donegal. The atmosphere is a bit on the nicer side but as it was lunch there were a few other patrons dressed more casually like us. While you can find cheaper meals in Sligo the quality cannot be beat. To start they brought out a butternut squash amuse bouche, which was surprisingly delicious. Our group next decided to share a few starters including the fish cakes, which were also tasty. For my main I had the chicken Kiev which was perfectly seasoned and beautifully presented. And to finish I had the peaches and cream dessert, which was so simple but also so flavourful. Hope to return! read more

Fairly tasty, clean, and inexpensive meal. We stopped by for lunch as a party of two on a weekday, and it was fairly empty. I ordered the black and white pudding lasagna, which was tasty, not too heavy, and an interesting dish with contrasting textures. My friend ordered the crispy beef stir fry, which was fairly Asian in its tastes and influences but was tasty nonetheless. It's a clean, quiet place for a meal with Irish influences in the area. read more

This place was amazing, for location, food and value. We booked a table and were lucky enough to get a window seat so had lovely views of the Garavogue river. The menu had a great range of options and was fantastic value for money with the early bird menu. The decor of the interior was delightful with swan motifs throughout and W.B. Yeats sprinkled liberally on the walls. We started with a demitasse of soup and complimentary bread, both of which were wonderful. For my starter I had a local beetroot carpaccio and Fivemiletown goats cheese fritters and for my main I had the duo of posh fish and chips which consisted of tempura battered fresh Atlantic cod with a cod caper croquette, garden pea puree, baby leaf salad and twice cooked fat chips. Both of these were incredibly good, as good as I've had. And for dessert, I had the carrot cake cookie ice cream sandwiches. This was not up to the previous standards of the night for me personally but this was probably my fault as it did say that the cookies were gluten free. Overall fantastic and a highly recommended option for Sligo town. read more

Research before our visit to Ireland suggested a visit - then our BnB host confirmed it as a good choice. I'd go back, with a minor reservation. The food: solid - adventurous, without sacrificing flavor...a must with access to so much fresh ingredients in the area. If this is contemporary Irish cuisine, I'm sold! Location: nice, right along the river - perhaps we should have insisted on eating inside (looked beautiful, classy)...but the evening was so nice (middle of a heat wave - low 20's C) that we decided to eat outside. After being attended to feverishly, as the meal concluded we were definitely forgotten! After (not seriously) considering waltzing away after waiting nearly 30 minutes after asking for our check, we settled up. Service: aforementioned stumble at the end of the meal, but leading up to the service was attentive and friendly without being overbearing. read more

This was a complete surprise. In Sligo on a big festival weekend and had no advance knowledge. Picked Eala Bhan on a whim. We were blown away. First surprise was a demitasse of amazing soup. Complimentary, served with the bread. The duck trio starter was very good. The mushroom encroute beyond good. My wife. Who is a great pastry chef said the pastry was better than anything she could make (I am writing for the recipe). The sea bass was exceptional and the salmon, said my wife, the best she had ever eaten. The service was perfect then at the end of the evening the proprietor. Introduced himself and chatted for a few minutes with good suggestions for other good destinations. We live in Ireland and are accustomed to good meals. Great restaurant. We went in here for lunch on Saturday and all five of us got excellent meals. Pricing was very reasonable too, the duck confit and the chicken salad were both under €7, not that the quality suffered from it at all. The place is in a nice location and it's well laid out and with a nice, relaxing atmosphere. It's still quite new and I hope its here to stay, I look forward to returning and trying more of their menu. read more

This place is absolutely fantastic! We were in Sligo this past week on holiday, and saw this place highly reviewed on Yelp. It was the highlight of our visit! Service? Excellent. Food? Fantastic! Parking across the street was readily available, though it was a week night. The potato soup app was really good. The truffle bacon app was simply amazing. So good. I had the sirloin, and it was very good. My wife got the lemon sole and she's still talking about it. We WILL be back to Sligo, and we most definitely WILL be back here! Dined here for lunch with a friend. First of all we were given a complimentary amuse bouche of carrot & coriander, which was a nice welcome on a chilly day! I had the warm chicken salad which was just under €7. Beautifully cooked chicken with bacon, wonderful fresh lettuce, walnuts and croutons finished with parmesan shavings and Balsamic vinegar. This is one I'll be trying at home! My friend had the prawn linguine which she had had before & enjoyed. The coffee is pretty good too. Service was quick and pleasant. I had a duck trio that was heavenly followed by the lab rack that was done to perfection Services was top notch our waitress proved what I have always said of the Irish: nothing is ever not possible. Flew into Dublin and took the train to Sligo. Stopped in and we were very happy with the food, though for some reason it was served on a rock which was confusing. Had the lamb and it was amazing! I highly recommend! read more
