There was an Asian couple not to far from us that were asked if they needed help or had questions. I finally flagged an employee down after 3 passed us by without even a smile. The employee was a short young lady with glasses, did not smile at us just proceeded to open the products I asked her to open. I liked the item and decided to take it. An employee returned from break and the same young lady that helped us smiled and greeted her as she returned from her break. But for us not a smile. The young man that checked us out at the register again no smile. My girlfriend made a small comment and we laughed thinking maybe he would crack a smile but no. It seemed very unusual to not be helped nor have friendly service as I frequently visit the Lovers stores. This was my first time at the Brea location as my girlfriend and I had dined out for galentines. This visit really put me out of the mood to purchase anything more from the store. I would strongly suggest to have all the employees have a lesson in customer service since customer service is to serve customers. I'm not saying you have to follow me around and hold my hand but a welcoming smile is nice and asking every customer if they need help or have questions is mandatory in my eyes as a customer especially that I did have questions. The value of the product was a great deal so I am happy with my purchase just not my experience at this location.

The clerk--a skinny guy wearing a hat with an extremely hostile, condescending attitude--dismissed me from the start. I offered my ID immediately, which he ignored, rushed me about payment, and made me wait while he chatted with non-paying customers. Once allowed inside, I stood in front of the lubrication display for less than 3 minutes with my hands behind my back quietly browsing. Out of nowhere, he began shouting across the store, demanding I hurry up. When I pointed out I had just walked over, he loudly accused me of intending to steal and claimed I "knew what I came to do." It was mortifying. Everyone in the store was staring at me like I was a criminal when I was literally just standing there quietly with my hands behind my back trying to make a purchase. To make matters worse, instead of de-escalating a situation he created, he called law enforcement. He called the police on a peaceful, paying customer simply to pull a power trip. When officers arrived, they asked if my name was "Richard"--proving this clerk didn't even bother to look at the ID I tried to give him and called 911 based on total wild assumptions and mistaken identity. I stayed in the parking lot and cooperated fully with officers because I had done nothing wrong. To Ownership/Management: Please review your security camera footage from July 24th at 2:00 AM at the counter and the lube display. This clerk's power trip, refusal to check IDs, public harassment, and false profiling of loyal customers is a massive legal liability for your business. Maybe the clerk was doing what he was told to do and it seemed like he didn't do anything wrong well I would say he did do something wrong because he accused me and harassed me and called the police on me for nothing but there was a mistaken identity or just some misunderstanding not only am i being banned but laughed at. If you don't want me or people like me whatever that might mean coming to your business of establishment I would like to know that and I would like to know what I did and I heavily will respect you desison. .
