This place is great. It's a small music store and it's easy to deal with the people. They don't have everything, but they can get you most things if you know what you're looking for. I highly recommend looking here first. read more

When it comes to music supplies/equipment I prefer to support small businesses! I will NOT spend a dime at the big chain stores. Thank your great service. Lincoln adjusted the intonation and action on my bass and did an amazing job! read more

Excellent experience. Rob, the owner of STAGE ONE MUSIC is a man who technically knows the musical instrument he displays on his wall. He also cares about the people who walk into his store. I trust him and will always make him my first stop in pursuit of a string instrument. His integrity is above approach. Let's keep this small business alive and well in our town of Simi Valley. read more

What can I say? When I first met Rob, I was blown away with his high level of professionalism and knowledge of the music industry. Rob is also a very kind and down to earth human being. He cares about each customer. I have purchased equipment and dropped off many guitars for repairs with him. I must say that Rob will go out of his way to ensure your 100% satisfaction. Eric is also an amazing luthier that works with Rob. Anything you need from basic repairs to custom built guitars, you name it, Eric is the man! Stage 1Music is literally a One Stop Music Center. Also, Rob is an amazing musician and teaches at his music school and has a number of professionals on his team that will look after your needs. I highly recommend visiting Rob, he's a relationship kind of guy and doesn't just want your money. He's passionate about his craft and helping people and will lead you in the right direction! From the moment, Brandon took my phone call to the minute I stepped in the door, I experienced great customer service at Stage 1 Music. Robert did an excellent job, restringing my Yamaha acoustic guitar. He even went above and beyond to polish the fretboard because he noticed it was looking a little lackluster. This guitar is special to me because it is my first. I also purchased a new strap. Robert was very helpful and addressed my questions professionally and even gave me suggestions on how I can alter my guitar to use my strap more efficiently. I am currently using the string method, because I only have one notch on my guitar at the moment. I am happy to support a local business like theirs and I am grateful for the service I received today. I will definitely be back very soon to tune my electric and purchase a new microphone! read more

Rob and John are some of the nicest and most passionate people I've met when it comes to music. I needed to get a setup on my bass guitar for a recording session that I was in the middle of. I was visiting from the east coast. I didn't know anything about the store and had not met Rob or John previously. I was immediately put to ease when I was greeted by Rob. He could not have been anymore supportive, or understanding of my situation. The timing was such that they were able to get me back up and running the next day. My bass guitar played and sounded amazing - my guitar was where it needed to be. Rob and John are all about moving people and their music forward. Thanks so much! read more

Wow. I made an effort to be at opening of store Walked in and was greeted somewhat unfriendly I needed info on buying a guitar and and amplifier but whoever was there said I have no time for you I walked out and will never be back I'm sure there are other music stores here or if I have to Los Angeles Anyway no sale no problem read more

This is a gem of an independent music store. I've brought my guitars here to be set up and restrung several times. Rob and John could not be nicer. They always go above and beyond and my guitars always come out humming. Prices are super fair, too. They treat this middle-aged newbie with kindness and respect, which I really appreciate. If you live in Simi or the surrounding areas, check this place out. You won't be disappointed! read more

Rob at Stage 1 Music has been a great help. His store has a quality selection of guitars, amps and keyboards all of which I have purchased. I will go to him for my music needs knowing that I will taken care of. read more

Dropped off my Les Paul for a setup (changing string gauge, didn't want to mess with the bridge or truss rod). Got it back quickly and it sounds amazing. Definitely recommend! Thank you John! read more

Great place! Everyone is very welcoming and helpful. The studios are relaxed and well stocked.

I've been going to Stage 1 for years. I miss their old larger location but I get why they downsized. You really cannot beat their prices for a practice space. $10 an hour for a drum room is an amazing deal. I live in an apartment so if it weren't for stage 1 I'd lose all of my drumming ability. The larger practice room is perfect for when you wanna jam with your band but don't want to annoy your neighbors. read more

Simi Valley is a hard place to start a business. Stage 1 seems to be thriving and isn't showing any signs of slowing down. THE GOOD. Stage 1 has really excellent gear that's set up and ready to go when you get there. The rooms are great and there's a good selection of sizes to suit your needs. If there's any gear you do need once you get there, they've always been more than happy to help get you what you need. Parking is a breeze as is load in as well. There's also a CVS nearby for you singers who might need a little Dutch courage to get started. Rob, whom I assume is the owner, is a great guy and has always been a real pleasure to work with. He's always keen on accommodating his customer's needs. He's no nonsense but also no bull either. Great work! Keep doing business the way you've been doing business and you've got a lifetime customer here. THE BAD. There's not really much to complain about at all - just be sure to book several days in advance as rooms fill up fast. Sometimes the rehearsal gods MIGHT look down upon you kindly and you'll get a room on the same-day but you're better off scheduling in advance. THE UGLY. Just some of the bands that come in :) This place comes highly recommended. read more

Rob has to be one of the nicest owners of any store out in the 805. Loves music and loves bands that start from nowhere get tight at stage one and become successful . Stage one is my go to jam facility for all my LA friends to meet me half way. Better than SSS in the valley . AC is freezing. And equipment is cherry ! read more

I don't often write Yelp reviews anymore. These guys deserve one. The place is always clean and everyone who works there is pleasant and accommodating. The gear is pretty nice, too. Orange County drumkits in most rooms and a decent selection of amps to play on. The thermostat always works and the bathroom is clean. This is a great place to play music. I'm not in a band but my friend and I come for a few hours every month and mess around. The staff is kind enough to not let us know just how terrible we sound. Haha! I recommend Stage 1 to anyone who wants a nice place to jam. Plus, it isn't in the valley! The other nice thing is that there is a CVS nearby to stock up on water or snack and there are some places to eat nearby. read more

Rob and team are awesome! Everyone is really helpful and accommodating. My kids have been playing piano for 4 years here. I started playing guitar here and it is still my go to for all my gear. read more

Rob's a great person to do business with. After meeting him last week when I brought in my electric guitar with a Floyd Rose set-up, I got my guitar back within a couple days - repaired and equipped with brand new strings for a very reasonable rate. He spent time with me as I looked at acoustic guitars - explained to me the pluses and minuses of the guitars I was looking at. He helped narrow down my selection and provided excellent information without a hard sales tactic. Ultimately, I came back and bought the guitar. As long as State 1 Music has its lights on, I will never feel the need to walk into another major big-named store again. Support your local music store - the gentlemen here are great people, personable, genuine, and knowledgeable. I'll be back here for anything else I need relating to music! Thanks, Stage 1 read more

Scheduled an appointment a week ago for a intro lesson with Dan. Arrived early and met with the owner, very nice. Showed me around and walked me to the practice room where Dan was teaching, Peeked in a couple times. When my appointment time arrived, no Dan. I walked back and asked if I should wait in the lobby or go in. He said no one told me I have an appointment (I was in the appointment book). He proceeded to tell me I could re schedule for a free lesson. I had already paid. He said you can re-schedule. Clearly he didn't want to teach, he was more concerned with eating and other personal things. Jordan was kind and gave me a refund. I don't recommend Dan at all. The other instructors seemed pleasant and friendly as they walked by and greeted their student. Dan, not so much. Stay away from Dan. read more

Was introduced to Stage 1 Music on Simi Deals and would highly recommend. Place has been amazing! Customer service is top notch, with friendly staff. We love Stage 1 Music! We started there several months ago with a Simi Deal for voice lessons for our daughter and haven't stopped since! Emma is a wonderful vocal coach who is kind and very patient. We couldn't have asked for a better person to work with our daughter. She has learned so much and has gained a great deal of confidence when she sings. So glad we found this place. We highly recommend it for voice lessons! read more

Have taken guitar and bass lessons from Jon for years. He is great. My sons take drums (from Ken) and piano (from Chris) and are thrilled. I also rent out rehearsal spaces for a band, which are fully equipped and with a tech on standby for assistance. Spaces are reasonably priced, clean and available for reservations Couldn't ask for more. read more

so I went by stage one to buy and set up lesson..the owner was busy with a customer..so I hung around for 30 min till I could talk to them about my purchase and lessons...as I have just moved here..after waiting ..to talk I needed to go to the bath room ..ask if I could use the bath room they said no.....now I am Ready to buy a base guitar and lessons.... so since they don't have bath rooms open to students...I will never go there again ever so rude ..... I RECOMMEND ANY ONE TO GO TO GUITAR CENTER BEFOR YOU BUY ANYTHING ST THIS PLACE ...THEY DO NOT HAVE A CLUE ABOUT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE ...AND IF YA NEED TO GO TO THE BATH ..GO PISS ON THE PARKONG LOT..I GUESS ...AS THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT ONLY RUDE ...BUT CLUELESS read more

Clean studios with hands down the best maintained drums I've ever used. The staff is also nice and helpful.

My boyfriend's band rehearses here once a week and they love it. I usually drop him off or pick him up every so often if he needs a ride. The staff is very polite and knowledgeable. And from what my boyfriend says, it's the best place to play. They have really nice rooms with great sound. read more
