Robert did an excellent job, restringing my Yamaha acoustic guitar. He even went above and beyond to polish the fretboard because he noticed it was looking a little lackluster. You really cannot beat their prices for a practice space. $10 an hour for a drum room is an amazing deal. I live in an apartment so if it weren't for stage 1 I'd lose all of my drumming ability. The larger practice room is perfect for when you wanna jam with your band but don't want to annoy your neighbors. read more

Simi Valley is a hard place to start a business. Stage 1 seems to be thriving and isn't showing any signs of slowing down. THE GOOD. Stage 1 has really excellent gear that's set up and ready to go when you get there. The rooms are great and there's a good selection of sizes to suit your needs. If there's any gear you do need once you get there, they've always been more than happy to help get you what you need. Parking is a breeze as is load in as well. There's also a CVS nearby for you singers who might need a little Dutch courage to get started. Rob, whom I assume is the owner, is a great guy and has always been a real pleasure to work with. He's always keen on accommodating his customer's needs. He's no nonsense but also no bull either. Great work! Keep doing business the way you've been doing business and you've got a lifetime customer here. THE BAD. There's not really much to complain about at all - just be sure to book several days in advance as rooms fill up fast. Sometimes the rehearsal gods MIGHT look down upon you kindly and you'll get a room on the same-day but you're better off scheduling in advance. THE UGLY. I don't often write Yelp reviews anymore. These guys deserve one. The place is always clean and everyone who works there is pleasant and accommodating. The gear is pretty nice, too. Orange County drumkits in most rooms and a decent selection of amps to play on. The thermostat always works and the bathroom is clean. This is a great place to play music. I'm not in a band but my friend and I come for a few hours every month and mess around. The staff is kind enough to not let us know just how terrible we sound. Haha! I recommend Stage 1 to anyone who wants a nice place to jam. Plus, it isn't in the valley! The other nice thing is that there is a CVS nearby to stock up on water or snack and there are some places to eat nearby. read more

Rob's a great person to do business with. After meeting him last week when I brought in my electric guitar with a Floyd Rose set-up, I got my guitar back within a couple days - repaired and equipped with brand new strings for a very reasonable rate. He spent time with me as I looked at acoustic guitars - explained to me the pluses and minuses of the guitars I was looking at. He helped narrow down my selection and provided excellent information without a hard sales tactic. Ultimately, I came back and bought the guitar. As long as State 1 Music has its lights on, I will never feel the need to walk into another major big-named store again. Scheduled an appointment a week ago for a intro lesson with Dan. Arrived early and met with the owner, very nice. Showed me around and walked me to the practice room where Dan was teaching, Peeked in a couple times. When my appointment time arrived, no Dan. I walked back and asked if I should wait in the lobby or go in. He said no one told me I have an appointment (I was in the appointment book). He proceeded to tell me I could re schedule for a free lesson. I had already paid. He said you can re-schedule. Clearly he didn't want to teach, he was more concerned with eating and other personal things. Jordan was kind and gave me a refund. I don't recommend Dan at all. The other instructors seemed pleasant and friendly as they walked by and greeted their student. Dan, not so much. Stay away from Dan. read more

My boyfriend's band rehearses here once a week and they love it. I usually drop him off or pick him up every so often if he needs a ride. The staff is very polite and knowledgeable.
