This store is an absolute miss for so many reasons. I would avoid it like the plague, and shop at a local retailer instead.
We've been customers of Stag Shop for years. We purchased a product at the Yonge location, and had an amazing experience. The product was only $7.99, so we decided to forego the $5 insurance offered to us. The product was packaged, but we foresaw no issues.
Dial forward an hour. We had purchased this product for migraine headaches funny enough, so the intent was never for anything intimate. My partner has been using the "bullet vibrators" for years to combat cluster migraines. He unpackaged the bullet, and it wouldn't turn on. He then took off the back, and the battery was fully corroded.
First off, this is incredibly unsafe. If we were to use it in an intimate manner, we could have seriously injured ourselves. But alas ...
We took the vibrator to our closest store, the Queen location. We waited patiently in line, and were greeted by a rep named Nick. We found it odd that he approached us in line to deal with the manner, as he was speakly so loudly, the entire store could hear. Before we could even tell him what happened, he started berating us for not purchasing insurance. He kept saying, "I guess you should have bought the insurance!". After the third time, I asked him if there was a manager we could speak with. I still had my cool at this point, but was frustrated by the level of his voice, and his speaking down to me.
He took us to the cash. This is where we met Jelicia. After he explained to her and laughed at our request, she rolled her eyes and told us again that it was unfortunate we didn't buy the insurance. I told them that the product was $7.99, and all we wanted was to exchange it for the exact model since it was defective. She rolled her eyes again. She then took out a bucket of batteries, explaining loudly to the store that if she could replace the batteries she would "do that for us, okay?!!!", as if she was doing us a favour. I should note, we were within the 7-day exchange policy, and she should have honoured this from the start. The "new" batteries did not work, which was to be expected since everything was corroded inside.
Dial forward again, and we continue to be spoken down to and berated. I must have heard 15 times that we should have bought the insurance, and there was nothing they were willing to do. Keep in mind: $7.99 purchase, $5 insurance. It doesn't add up. They then told us to go to the Yonge store, and said they refused help us. At this point, people had stopped at the cash register trying to understand why they were speaking so loudly to us. The entire store could hear! I asked for a manager card. Jelicia replied, "I AM THE MANAGER!". I asked her, "You're the Assistant Manager, right? Is there a Manager?" She then threw the card across the desk and said, "She will tell you the same thing I said". I lost my patience at this time, told Jelicia she was incredibly rude, took the product and left.
I emailed the manager (Darcie). Two days later, no response. I emailed her again and said since she had no interest in helping, I would be in touch with corporate. Their customer care then emailed me offering to replace it, sending me a copy of the email that Jelicia had sent to them (I'm assuming by mistake?). I found out that Darcie (manager) made false claims about me and my partner that I take extreme offence to. At no point did we harass her team, speak down to them, abuse them, or yell at them. I don't cuss. She claimed there was a large sale going on. No, there wasn't. We didn't interrupt anything, as it was just us at the cash register. The email is full of lies, is not truthful, and at no point did Darcie even ask us about our experience.
So, to recap:
- You have an Assistant Manager in-store who's rude and unhelpful.
- You have a Manager who's rude and lies, and has no interest in emailing a customer about an experience they have.
- Then, you have a Customer Care Team who doesn't even take the diligence of removing an email thread before emailing me directly.
Please avoid this place. Their customer service is awful and you will be wasting your money. Shop local. Avoid Stag Shop. read more
