A few areas for improvement are needed, but I love this hotel overall. I stayed with a friend to…read moreattend a nearby wedding, and found the staff to be friendly and helpful. When I noticed that the refrigerator in my room wasn't cold enough, a friendly maintenance person was there right away to replace it. Our housekeeper was also attentive and friendly. Most of the things that needed improvement were in the room. The deadbolt lock on the balcony door didn't work. Although, that didn't really worry me. We just reported it upon checking out. The thing that was a bit hard to deal with was the loud air conditioner. It was startling every time it turned on, and it required turning up the TV volume a little. It wasn't a deal breaker, though, because it wasn't loud enough to wake us up at night. My suggestion to housekeeping would be to include the balcony as part of the room cleaning after each checkout. It just needs to be wiped down and swept regularly of cobwebs and bugs. Everything inside the room was clean. Regarding parking, try to cut them some slack on the limited number of spaces. The hotel was built a long time ago, and they did their best with the renovation. My only issue is with the EV chargers that no one used during my stay, and guests with normal cars couldn't park in those spaces. I think EV chargers should be moved outside of the main lot on the side of the building facing Dixon Ave. Having said that, parking was plentiful during the day, but it filled up by evening. We had to park on Dixon Ave a couple times, but always nearby. To end on a positive note, the overall look of this renovated hotel is quite nice. I enjoyed the rooftop lounge, and was fascinated by the history of the place. I liked how a lot of the prominent features of the past were carried over to the renovated design.

my fiancé and I went into the low bar after a nice dinner at the vintage chophouse and decided to…read morehave a few cocktails. I ordered a vodka and tonic and a Mick ultra and she said, what is your room number and I said, I'm paying cash. She said, I still need your room number. I said, for what reason? She said, I just have to put it into the system and I told her again that I'm paying cash at the end of our cocktails. She insisted on the room number, we had $54 worth of drinks. I went up to cash out as I said it was going to and I gave her $100 bill and said, keep the change It looks like a slower night for you guys, so she stuck the $100 in her pocket (obviously) and THEN STILL charged all the drinks and cocktails on my room. Sounds like she set that up way in advance. I'm never staying here again and I will yeLp this place every chance I get ....the low bar was a little crowded (its very small) and the girl behind the desk had her baby daddy and daughter up there (arguing about why he brought her daughter up to the workplace when she was working ) and she kept going out and sitting with them and not serving the people going up to the bar for drinks. They had to wait until she noticed them to walk around and ask them what they needed and then she would go back out and sit with her baby daddy and her daughter in the middle of a workplace.... for almost $600 a night that shouldn't be going on. This is not a Red Roof motel, this is a high-end boutique hotel. They should act like it. Where are the owners, who is the manager, while all these girls are ripping off customers? the same thing happened to me last year when I went there and ordered two beers and she stuck the $20 right in her pocket right in front of me, never even looked at the cash register I'll drive to this location instead. Short Version: We loved it!…read more Long Version: I have watched the Charlevoix webcam from across the bridge, and always thought that it would be great to stay at Edgewater. Their website allowed us to check each available unit. We chose the unit and reserved two days. Medical issue arose, and we needed to delay the trip by a couple of weeks. Since the unit would be available, they seamlessly moved the reservation. We then added a 3rd night. The unit was clean, with a wonderful view from the balcony. Their instructions for getting new towels were clear and easy to follow. There are laundry facilities on site. We plan to return, so that says it all. Management company team were all professional and friendly. Very few people post positive reviews on Yelp, but my suggestion is to focus on the reviews from THIS decade.

Family holiday, with our 2 kids, stayed three nights 9/14-9/16/20. $239/night. First day, raised complaint that the kitchen came with cooking pots and pans that were caked in old eggs. We ate out instead. Second night, we discover our door to the room had a malfunctioning locking mechanism, thus the room door literally could not be locked. Meaning, night 1 we slept with an unlocked hotel door. Night two, once discovered, I barricaded at night for peace of mind. Sure, it's Northern Michigan - but still. They fixed it our last day - to their position, they were (I presume) unaware they provide us a room without a properly locking door. Hotel doors that lock..a cleaned kitchen - basics. Yes? Minimal expectations for a Inn at any price. I am a business owner myself and felt/feel that this type of experience must be handled professionally - even if unintentional. I would refund the stay if I gave a damn about consumer experience. At least 50% back the nights they slept without a locking door in the room? Buy them a meal for the gross pans in their kitchen? They reluctantly offered us $100 (I paid $800) and 10% off our NEXT stay after I asked if they were doing anything for us. Next stay? ‍ Customer service is dead! And that's coming from a millennial likely speaking of an elder. I requested the owner reconsider our experience, gave him 30 days, to see if he was willing to take better care of us. Bonus features: they told me we had a room with a great balcony when I reserved it, was literally bars over a window - so wife and I had no balcony when kids were asleep as we had hoped for..asked for, the WiFi was shotty, there were several power outages, gym closed despite gyms open lumpy bed, construction next door, sauna down, and the staff wasn't masked up despite signage requiring guests to be. If you're not slobby boomer, AVOID
