A staff member called for the initial meeting at about 2:40. I was given the dilation drops and escorted back to waiting area about 2:50. About 3:20 Dr Sullivan directed me to the back exam room not telling me which one. I went into the lighted room. Another period of time elapsed before he found me and took me into the correct room for the exam. He examined my eyes and provided his assistant with information. He briefly commented he found a condition in my right eye which is similar to the one I had in my left eye. He provided information to assistant and had her take me to anther room where a scan was made of each eye. It was 3:55 when I left the office. Later I received an email on the docs review of visit. In it was an eye drop prescription and "lid massage" listed without instructions on what a lid massage is. I am totally disappointed with the lack of in-office communication from the Dr on his observation. There was no review of the scans taken before I left. My last eye Dr did the scans first and confirmed with physical examination. It would have been nice to have tge Dr explain further what his observation and recommendation for follow-up would entail.

Our experience with Pacific Northwest Eye Associates (PNEA) in Tacoma, WA, has been disappointing…read more My wife and I require cataract surgery. At 76, we take our eye health seriously. Before scheduling our first visit in December 2024, we carefully researched local cataract surgery options and Dr. Niraj Patel. We selected Dr. Patel based on his experience. The process to secure that initial appointment took two months. We believe Dr. Patel is a skilled ophthalmologist and surgeon. That said, we both felt pressured at the first exam with him to opt for the Light Adjustable Lens (LAL), a $4,500 per-eye ($9,000 total) upgrade not covered by Medicare or our secondary insurance. The clinic prominently promotes this option, which likely benefits its revenue. Despite our optometrists advising against a replacement lens other than "standard," we briefly considered it due to the strong recommendation. This raises concerns about whether other elderly patients might feel similarly pressured. Anyone considering this clinic should thoroughly research the LAL option and discuss it with their optometrist or primary care provider before making a decision. After our exams, we met with the "scheduling coordinator" for Dr. Patel's surgeries. We were informed that due to a backlog, surgery dates would be significantly delayed. We accepted this reality and continued the process. However, communication with the clinic was frustratingly difficult. Getting answers required showing up in person and hoping someone could assist us. Scheduling changes were nearly impossible without being pushed months further down the waitlist. Even urgent non-elective medical issues did not seem to influence scheduling flexibility. Patients should be aware of these limitations before committing to the required exam process. This is a business in search of large patient volume and the bottom line. After nearly three months of waiting, we have canceled all future appointments with PNEA. It is too frustrating. Based on our experience, we would not recommend this clinic. Patients should carefully research not only the procedure itself but other local Opthalmology clinic choices, the clinic's billing practices, scheduling and communication policies. We hope others have a smoother experience than we did.

To get five stars from me, somebody has to be really good. Uptown Eyes is really really REALLY…read moregood. I am very picky about my vision. The optometrist was excellent and very attentive. I was impressed with how carefully she examined my eyes and how hard she worked on identifying the right correction. More importantly, she diagnosed a condition in my eye that the optometrist at Lens Crafters missed, and wrote me a referral to a retinal specialist. Even better, she really knew her stuff about lens technology and how to design progressives for me that match what I need and how I use glasses. Amazingly, she helped me pick out frames. One reason is that she knew what kind of frames would work with the lenses I'd need. I've never had this kind of knowledgeable service before. To cap it all off, she gave me excellent advice about which frames flattered my features! In addition, her staff were pleasant, courteous, and knowledgeable. Her office space was spacious, well-designed, and spotless. Be warned, the frames and lenses are expensive. On the other hand, they are stylish, well-made, high quality and the lenses come with a 2-yr warranty. And you'll end up loving what you got. After two years in Lens Crafters frames and lenses, I've had it with the cheaper stuff.

Both Dr. Lawson and Donna Jones were inappropriate and publicly disrespectful of me and my medical privacy. Knowing full well I would never go back there after the way I was treated, Donna gave me a letter from Dr. Lawson firing me as her patient! Handing me this kind of letter was just mean and vindictive, with no intention but to hurt, and/or cover themselves as a VSP provider at my expense.

I've always received exceptional service at this location, so this situation was surprising and disappointing. The representative called to let me know that my progressive lenses were ready. When I asked about my sunglasses, the conversation quickly shifted. I explained that I had ordered new frames and that the store had kept the lenses from the pair I was replacing. She then told me she had a store full of people and didn't understand what I was trying to explain. When I tried to clarify, she responded, "That's exactly what I just said," in a rude and hurtful tone. I'm only returning to pick up my glasses because they're already paid for, but I won't be visiting this location again. To make matters worse, she called back afterward and didn't offer any kind of apology.

I genuinely care about people, and I expect the same from any provider I see. Unfortunately, this place does not. I recently moved from West Seattle to Gig Harbor and had previously gone to an independent eye doctor at Costco in West Seattle who was excellent. I chose Target Optical in Gig Harbor because they took my insurance, had good reviews, and advertised discounts on contact lenses! I was hopeful... but the experience was disappointing from start to finish. The exam area was shockingly small and looked completely unsanitary. Instead of providing fresh trial contacts, they had me remove mine and place them in a little case on a dirty countertop next to water bottles and the sink. The doctor, Dr. Harrison, was dismissive and made me feel foolish for asking questions. I came in concerned about a possible lazy eye, supported by video evidence I'd taken of myself doing a neurological assessment. As an RN who has worked in neurology and cardiology, I've performed countless cranial nerve exams... but she brushed off my concerns, did a lightning-fast exam, and declared nothing was wrong without a thorough explanation or exam. Her demeanor was cold, and she made no effort to connect or reassure me. The sales experience was the worst part. After my exam, I sat down with a sales rep to discuss my contact lenses. Instead of helping me get the best deal with my insurance, it was clear their only goal was to upsell me. I left paying more than I should have and with far fewer lenses than I could have gotten elsewhere. About two Months later (today), I called to inquire about trying new Alcon lenses, specifically Air Optix Colors, Precision 1, and Air Optix Night & Day Aqua, which Alcon offers as a free 30-day trial with a coupon from their website. The rep immediately told me that because their doctor is "private" and "doesn't sell contact lenses," they couldn't provide me with the free trial, but I could try on non-prescription lenses in-store and then buy them from him. In other words, forget the free trial; he wanted me to pay full price. As someone familiar with the process, I know full well they could have redeemed the trial through their system if they wanted to. The sales rep's attitude was smug and transactional...the kind of tone that makes you feel like your money is more important than your eyes. This location left me feeling dismissed, overcharged, and entirely uncared for. I'll be taking my business elsewhere, likely back to Costco Optical where patient care still comes first.
