The burger patties were good, no doubt, and the caramelized onions were cooked perfectly. The problem with the burgers here is the sauce, which tastes simply awful! They use the same sauce for their fries too, which defies all logic... Tip: Scrape the sauce from their burgers, and you've got a pretty good burger!

Luckily, The Burger Project meets all of these qualifications to be a Maginhawa standard. The restaurant is cozy, with seating both inside and outside. You can seat larger parties here but be prepared to be brushing elbows. It helps the place feel more homey. The menu of available toppings and pre made combinations alongside sides and drinks are written artfully in chalk above the cash register and condiments bar. They have this cool template where you can literally build your own burger, customizing everything from the bun to the cheese to sauces, condiments and everything in between! Be warned though, every upgrade comes at a price and it can add up quickly. The standard patty is a very generous serving, and familiar to most Filipino palates, it's a bit on the saltier side. I do, however, appreciate its flavor and juiciness so I don't really think it's a deal breaker. Some standout add-ons to the burgers here include an egg, adobo aioli, a grilled pineapple slice, and garlic cream cheese among more standard and out there choices. I love their fries too! Definitely good for sharing for the size. I recommend the sweet potato fries (₱70), The Animal Style Fries (a nod to In-N-Out's famous fries of the same name), and the garlic aioli fries. They're great, especially the sweet potato fries because they walk a really nice line between kamote fries you'd buy on the street and the sweet potato fries you'd see at more American places.

The Snack Shack, a quaint burger joint that first opened its doors inside of the University of the Philippines, now has a second home just a couple of minutes away from the university. They still serve the same affordable, freshly ground burgers that we've come to know and love, while introducing new menu items, mostly various kinds of grilled sausages. As always, it's better to call or text ahead of time before actually going to the restaurant since the burgers takes quite a while to prepare. You can take a chance and wing it, but be prepared to wait for at least 30 minutes to get your order. The taste is worth the wait but if you're easily bored, you've been forewarned.

That means no melted mozzarella cheese, no caramelized onions and no special signature sauce that claims to be the winner in every bite. I like my burgers with beefy patties, clean and fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and onions with minimal ketchup and mayonnaise, maybe a little mustard. Anything more and I wouldn't enjoy the burger as much. Fortunately, the Snack Shack offers just that - simple, clean and fresh burgers cooked right in front of you. For less than 150 pesos, I can get a great tasting burger. The only downside is the waiting time that forces you to wait at least 15 minutes, and that's on a good night. This simple, hole-in-the-wall is literally located off the road of V. Luna Extension. You'd notice the place wherever there's a swarm of hungry people waiting to be fed. But for the quality, taste and price, I would wait hours just to have a bite.

It still retains that kitschy vibe the outdoor Jupiter branch has, plus the Katipunan branch has a/c, more seating, and is located more conveniently for me. I got the cheeseburger with grilled onions & onion rings. The tomatoes & lettuce on the burger were fresh & crisp; it also had a good amount of cheese on it. I liked that the buns were buttered & toasted. The beef patty had a tendency to start falling apart, but I've noticed this with all the burgers I've had here in the Philippines - not sure why this is. The onion rings were super sulit & the serving size was generous enough to have an onion ring with every bite which I loved. I tried some of my friend's sweet potato fries which I also enjoyed, but I think the ones at Charlie's are better. When we went for lunch, all the seats were taken, but a spot for us opened up soon after we ordered. We got our food fast & left with our burger craving satisfied.

What they…read morelack in decor to add to the ambiance they make up with really good tasting food - so much so that Dayrit's has been around for pretty much forever. What you really have to try at Dayrit's is their house specialty, the Roast Beef Plate. The generous serving of deliciously seasoned and roasted beef comes with a baked potato topped with cheese and bacon bits, vegetables and rice. While the meal can become quite filling, you can just omit the rice and have your roast beef with their delicious baked potato. Another dish that I liked at Dayrit's is their Hamburger Steak. The patty itself is a little bit oddly shaped (it's a rectangle!) and is a bit thin, but it does taste good. It's not too oily and the mushroom sauce that accompanies it is a nice touch as the dish on its own can become pretty dry. On the side, the hamburger steak comes with a small heap of mashed potatoes. What I love about this is that it doesn't taste like the packaged dry spud that you can get, so they get plus points for this. For dessert, try their Brownie ala Mode. This is pretty sweet, so I suggest you split it with a friend. Apart from these, Dayrit's also has sandwiches on the menu, as well as pasta, sizzling ghetti, and short orders. What's great about them is that they also offer frozen cooked food, party trays you can bring to your next potluck, and items sold by weight.

(Tip: I get mine split in half for easier handling, and with thick-cut fries and onion rings on the side for an extra crunch.) The collection of comic book posters and other superhero stuff around on display is also a cool geeky touch - their name's one of those action scene sound effects after all! Even with its recent renovations and brand-new line of sausages, Wham! has stayed consistent for more than a decade and still delivers that same kick of burger nostalgia I remember every time.

The burger patty they use is huge so as the other ingredients they fill it in. You can share one burger if you have a small appetite. Their fries are delicious as well, thick sliced and filling. I do hope that they put up more branches around the city especially near my area again. They are also reasonably priced and won't hurt your wallet even if you're a big group.

This burger joint in Maginhawa is well known for their 50%-50% burgers, or burgers that are made with 50% beef, and 50% of your choice of processed meat, such as SPAM, bacon or longanisa. I haven't tried the burgers yet since I turned vegetarian before I discovered their shop, but what I always get when I'm there is the Poutine ng Ina Mo, which is their version of the famous Canadian fries-and-curds snack. They pile crispy fries in a bowl, top it with cheese and douse it with tasty chicken gravy. Try this with their famous Awesomesauce, which is basically just pesto mayonnaise served in a caulking gun, or what they call the "baril". The Awesomesauce goes with everything - the burgers and the fries. On your next visit, make sure to order Pink Potion with Feelings. I won't spoil the surprise element of this drink, so you need to go and experience it for yourself.

But i saw a todd english at the airport and a waitress gave us their happy hour menu as we were walking by looking for a place to eat. So we decided to give them a try. The waitresses are really nice just like it seems to be in the service industry in the Philippines. It was airconditioned which was really nice. Theres no bathroom in the establishment but several restaurants down which is common here.... I ordered their portabello mushroom sliders as well as their todd English poutine. When the food came which wasent that much of a wait i remembered why i shouldn't have come to Manila for a burger much less a poutine which is a canadian dish... (what was i thinking?.... you dont goto Mexico for chinese food....) Granted i knew sliders were small, but this is rediculous. It felt as tho the 2 burgers were the size of an American half dollar. Very small. So i was hoping it tasted fantastic..... It didnt. Tasted mediocre. Nothing special. Nothing memorable. Same for the poutine. Seemed as tho it lacked salt or flavor. At least it was hot and the cheese was still melting.... really not saying much. I left this place unsatisfied and not even feeling full or anywhere close to full due to the sad portion of the meal. Their redemption and only saving grace was their customer service and ice water and airconditioner. Now remember self the mantra... when in Manila dont try their burgurs.... or as a matter of fact any country where their not known for a particular dish...
