Tried to order online. The app said they were open. Obviously they were not. It's a good thing I'm not stuck at work with no ability to get any food. Oh wait...I am.

Damn This place is so freaking good, a coworker said we had to go here and I'll eat anything once and I'm always happy to try something new and something I wouldn't typically seek out. The location is tucked in with some other businesses, you walk inside and you make a selection off of a big chalk board. So many different options I had a hard time selecting. I ended up going with the rib tip meal, it was very tasty, and the sauce was flavorful. I ended up getting the two sides, fried okra which is my favorite, although fried it was not super heavy and I enjoyed it. Then I ended up getting the Mac and cheese which was just a simple classic that I ate every bite of. For a drink I ended up getting a large fruit punch koolaide and it was nostalgic and tasty. This is a place I'll have to come back and try more of the different food options. All around awesome experience!

The place has a diner feel with a good amount of seating without feeling too crammed. The place was popping which is a good sign that people enjoy the food here. We ordered the collard green sandwich with mashed potatoes and candied yams as well as the poboy sandwich with fries and corn bread. The portions are generous with plenty to take home for another meal. The food is so flavorful and delicious. We left full and happy!

We had seen people review this place for years but had just never made it to this cute little spot on the east side! We walked in and were quickly greeted and sat. After being sat our friendly waitress came over and recommended some top picks! After some talking we decided to order the rib meal with potato salad and baked beans. Wife ordered the chicken and red velvet waffles with sides of creamed corn and Mac and cheese. Let's start with our top / best of the meal: 1.Fried Chicken was Amazing!! Amazing breading. 2. Creamed corn was the best side hands down followed with a close second of the Mac and cheese. Now the not so good: 1. The ribs. They were very chewy and gross. I didn't wanna send them back because they were still edible but wouldn't ever get them again. 2. Baked beans tasted like canned baked beans. Overall we left with a good feeling and will be back. Especially with the super friendly service! Next time we just won't get the ribs haha!

They have some for sell if you don't have one. They have a large dining area, but have shut down most of the tables for social distancing. It is very tidy and clean though. There is tons of parking in the lot that it shares with the other businesses in the strip mall. The restaurant has a wide range of menu items such as meatloaf, pig feet, pork chops, and fried and baked chicken. They also have many sides including cabbage, mac & cheese, yams and corn. My highlight was the kool-aid bar. They had 3 different flavors of my favorite childhood drink. The staff there was very friendly and helpful. I got a 3 piece fried chicken dinner, with a side of goulash and mac & cheese. It took about 20 minutes for them to prepare my meal. The chicken was hot and fresh out of the fryer. It was delicious. The goulash was pretty tasty too. The mac & cheese, well, not so much. It was ok, but nothing to write home about. I would have probably gotten something else if I got to pick over again. The meal also came with come cornbread. It was a lot of food and I could not eat it all there, so I had some leftovers to take home. I enjoyed my meal here. Its sign that it has up claiming to be Indy's Best Kept Secret, definitely holds true. I recommend you checking this place out and will surely be back soon.

They have a small patio, a modest dining area and a full bar with seating. You will find a TV above the bar to watch. I loved the restaurant's colorful murals of all the famous people dining there. They have daily food and drink specials. They had $2 wings and $5 margaritas when I was there. This restaurant is known for soul food. I will say that I was very disappointed with my experience here. Our server was nice but was not very attentive. My order was wrong. I ordered the hot honey chicken with cabbage and stuffing. I got okra instead of cabbage. Also, it took about 15 minutes for me to get my food, and it was luke warm and was not very good. my stuffing tasted like it came out of a box. My friends said the same about their mac and cheese. We got deviled eggs as an appetizer and we were not impressed with those either. My chicken was mid. I have had better and I have had worse. I really wanted to like this place, but it has really fallen off and fell short of what I expected. His Place is so much better than this spot. I hope this restaurant is able to turn it around soon.
