Beau Roper arrived at our property on time, introduced himself politely, and gave us a quick overview of what to expect -- how long things would take and when we'd get the report back. We walked the property together so I could point out any issues and he could ask questions. He then got to work, explaining that the inspection would take about an hour to an hour and a half since he needed to be thorough and photograph everything on the property. We ran some errands and came back just as he was finishing up. He walked us through everything he'd done and made sure my wife felt comfortable with the findings before leaving the property clean and orderly. Moving forward, Groundworks kept us updated on the status of the report and what to expect next. Everything arrived exactly on time. I can't thank them enough -- this was an exceptional experience compared to other contractors I've dealt with. Groundworks provided a very thorough report, complete with the licensed engineer's information, which made a real difference. Quick note for anyone in Texas: there's no state license or requirement to be a foundation contractor here -- all you need is a shovel. It's a pretty wide-open, unregulated space. I am in the middle of selling a house and the decision to have work done is expensive in time, if not necessarily in cost, as any interior repairs would have to be done a month after the foundation work was completed, to let stress in the structure settle & relieve. One of the owner's, Frank, came out and inspected the foundation. He was extremely knowledgeable and discovered a myriad of things that I was not aware of regarding foundation work, such as the different type of piles and that because it was structural work, the repairs should be stamped by a professional engineer, and that if Continental did any work, his plans would in fact be stamped. In the end he determined that the foundation was good as is and that I did not need to go chasing unnecessary repairs at this point in time. Needless to say, that was great news to hear and shows what an upstanding company Continental Foundation is. Many other companies would have been more than happy to start digging around the house to perform costly and substandard work.
