When I decided to come home for a good chunk of the summer, one of the first things I started…read morelooking at were local gyms other than Planet Fitness. I've been a member of a really nice Gold's Gym/EOS for about 8 or 9 years in Vegas and I honestly didn't think I'd find something comparable to that in a small town that I visit once every two years or so, but to say the least, was very impressed with LIFT. LIFT has almost identical equipment that my gym at home has. TRX, cables, super nice racks, various types of medicine/exercise balls and weights. They have a nice selection of machines, too. There are 4 rowers, a handful of ellipticals, treadmills and only one regular stair machine. There are one or two that are like a hybrid of an elliptical and stair machine. There's a group fitness room with stationary and AIR ASSAULT BIKES! That was definitely an awesome discovery for me, as I was sure I was going to miss mine at home. A month by itself was $50 and I could come any time during normal staffed hours. For $10 extra, I could have gotten a 24/7 access pass. My routine while I was here generally coincided with staffed hours, but next summer, I'll opt for 24/7 access because on the weekends, their window of opportunity to come ends at 12 noon. Even though I wasn't there to stay and am obviously not from around there, the staff never questioned me or made it awkward. Above all, I appreciated that the most. I felt comfortable coming in daily and putting in work. In short, I highly recommend this place and am super stoked to have a go-to gym to come back to next summer.

Great place to work out and especially its locally owned and operated no big ceo chain facility…read more Always very clean and sterilized.

I just moved to Oswego and their is very limited options in public gyms. I chose The Y here bc they…read morehad a pool and swimming is my favorite form of cardio. I come to find out after signing up that the original facility where their pool was located was condemned. They have a deal with the college and the high school for VERY limited periods of time that change monthly. On top of that, the new building is very old and has the cardio equipment in the basement. It's very musty and it smells. After a few times trying to utilize the cardio equipment( bc I wasn't able to make the limited swim schedule times) I became very sore and congested in my chest. I went to my primary care doctor and he prescribed me a nebulizer stating that I should limit the amount of time I'm in that space (aka the basement) Last but not least, they have gym hours that change seasonally and are inconvenient. They are barley open on the he weekends and close either at 6p or 8p during week. I paid almost $160 down and I pay $40 a month to use their gym and it's been a struggle at the very least. I have to add that the women's locker room is not in very good shape either. It's old and small. The staff is friendly for the most part and they have a great children's area for moms who want to work out! They are active with community building events also but I don't have children so it doesn't directly suit me or my life. This YMCA is also privately owned so be aware you cannot transfer your membership to another gym. They do allow five times a month for you to use the Fulton YMCA but my advice would be to just join Fulton and Not waste your time on the Oswego Y. I spoke to Carrie about my dissatisfaction with their gym and she was rude and slightly argumentative when I told her my doctor said the basement was making me sick. She insisted that she had asthma and never has a problem. I had to provide a doctor note to cancel my membership which was extremely inconvenient. Carrie did provide me a fax number to give to my doctor but like most primary care doctors I had to go back to the office for an appointment to receive a script stating I cannot use their gym. This was a very costly experience to say the least.

This place recently opened in February! They have Bootcamp workouts 6 days a week (closed on…read moreSundays). They're having an offer right now where you can get 3 free workouts!! My friend and I tried it out today, we came at the 9:30 AM slot. There were only 3 other people in the class with us. The instructor Don, is absolutely amazing! He motivates you with humor, dancing, and whatever it takes to get you through the workout! The best thing about this Bootcamp is it's for all types of stamina and people who are at different points in their fitness journey. I love it because they modify the workout for you depending on where you are in your fitness journey. For example, we had to jump up on blocks and my friend Nikki struggles with it because she tore her ACL back in high school. Don was helping her stand up on the block instead of jumping on it. You start off with a 5 minute warmup and then go straight to the 20 minute Bootcamp and then a few minute cool down/stretches. It's super high energy and so much fun!! I absolutely love this place and I plan on buying a membership after my 3 free workouts!!
