Dr. Stabel did cataract surgery on both eyes several years ago. My vision is drastically improved, I no longer need to wear glasses to drive and I get my reading glasses at the $ store. I've been going to Dr. Stabel for a few months now. I really like his staff more and more the longer I go. They are a very efficient team! With Dr. Stabel I feel very confident that I'm seeing a highly skilled doctor who focuses all his attention on my care. I never have to wait long. If I have a concern and need an appointment they get me in quickly, without the frustratingly long waits that most doctors offices seems to have these days. read more

We just left there office, we had appointments this morning. I spent a good 45 minutes on the phone scheduling our appointments. Nothing was mentioned about $55 dollar charge or the fact they don't prescribe contacts. When we showed up the lady up front gave us papers to fill out, then she came to the waiting room and announced out loud in front of everybody that they need to collect $50 dollars before they could see us because we have med-cal she was rude and demeaning like we were second class citizens because we had medical. She was very cold and stuck up and when I replied to here saying that it would have been nice if that information was told to is when we scheduled our appointments, she responded that she didn't have time for this. So we walked out and canceled our appointments. Never been treated so poorly and disrespectful like we were treated this morning. read more

Rave to Dr. Stable. I had a sudden infection in several melbomium glands of my eye that was frightening. Rapid Care in Paradise couldn't help me so , having seen him before in the last few years, I went there today and they worked me in the schedule last minute to help me. I went to Dr Stabel for lid surgery. I now have scars that extend out to my temples. Had I known that the incision would extend beyond my lids, I would have gotten a 2nd opinion or perhaps gone to a plastic surgeon. The biggest issue I have with Dr Stabel is that he said there would be slight scars on my eyelids. Hardly noticeable. He did not say one word about my temples. What I got was a deep scar on one side of my face and a slight scar on the other side. When I confronted him about this after surgery, he took responsibility for not telling me what to expect. He apologized. This really doesn't help my situation. Going forward, I don't feel that I can trust him to tell me what I need to know. I will find another ophthalmologist. read more

Dr. Stabel's Eye Clinic would get two stars or three if it weren't for the fact that he is the consummate professional. I feel that I am getting the best advice and the best care when speaking to him. I doubt that I would go anywhere else for eye surgery. But, if there were ever a contest to determine which eye surgeon could see the most patients in a day; Dr. Stabel would win hands down. When you enter the office, you are entering a factory. There are workers everywhere and they all appear to be quite busy. If you spot the doctor, he will be striding quickly from room to room. All of these busy workers are there to insure that there will be a patient in the room he is moving to. Let me say that these workers are also very professional and I'm sure that they are all quite competent. I doubt that they would be working there unless they were competent. I've given him 5 stars and complimented his staff; so what's my problem? I guess I'm looking for less 'factory ambience' and more individual congeniality. Having a brief and pleasant (non clinical) conversation does wonders when you are stressed. read more

Worst clinic ever. I have an eye problem. After confirming an appointment I waited an additional thirty minutes. When the doctor came in an hour later he told me to put hot water on my eye. furious I agreed and left. I left my ID there but didnt know it until I was in San Fran. I tried getting a drink at a restaurant but could not because they had my stupid ID there. They forgot to give it back to me. Very unprofessional. I would not trust them. Canceled my next appointment. read more

My daughter needed to see an Ophtalmologist on an emergency basis. We were able to get her in on very short notice. Since that visit, my daughter has had several appointments which went well. No issues with the staff or the doctor ever. read more

As far as a good Ophthalmologist, Dr. Stable is thorough and professional but the clinic is so busy that I couldn't wait to get out of there. The atmosphere was chaotic and hectic. I received all the time my visit required yet, in my opinion, I felt the stress of an overworked staff. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Stabel's since I moved to Chico more than a decade ago. Originally I would go in for basic check ups. Each time I would come in, the staff has always been exceptionally pleasant. Last year, I was diagnosed with an eye condition. This past year, I've been coming in regularly and I'm writing this review because I wanted to mention how exceptional not only doctor Stabel is as a doctor, but his staff as well. The time management of the office as a whole is very efficient. He spends quality time with his patients as well. There is very little wait time and yet when you are with the doctor you're certain that you are "heard" each time and he's got an excellent memory, which is amazing given the amount of patients he has. The staff is efficient and intelligent and the office as a whole is a well-run machine. I imagine it must be difficult to run your own practice in this day and age, what with all the insurance issues, but this office makes everything run smoothly for the patient. I had a few snags in regards to MRIs and C-SCANs and covering of a medicine, and the person responsible in his office for assistance with insurance went above and beyond, in my opinion, in helping.
