The teachers/caretakers are what make a school/daycare a good experience or not. Lori and Jessie have been the primary teachers and both are extremely dedicated and care a lot about the children. Lori has always gone the extra mile to keep me updated on my daughter. My daughter runs up to her excited every day. The daycare is tidy/orderly, they do a lot of crafts, they provide healthy snacks, if you forget your kids lunch they won't call you and tell you to bring something, they'll find something for them to eat, etc. They try to be as accommodating as possible. I do think they need another full-time teacher, for support, in case anyone gets sicks, and just to make things easier for them. I also think whoever owns LMA should be more involved in helping the Salem location grow.

It rains so rarely where I live, it'd be a shame to be indoors all day. It'd be rad if they could open the roof on sunny warm days. Do I ask for too much? Imagine a really good indoor play structure. Like 3+ levels high! A small play area for tiny kids. Some video arcades and such. Some adult games like corn hole, shuffleboard table, darts, and such. A full restaurant and bar! A few cabana-type small rooms for parties or whatever. And it's not too loud!!! I was worried an indoor play area would be excruciatingly noisy, and not well ventilated. It seems like the space is big enough to suppress the kids' yelling, but not so big that the echoes impose. I guess the large space also helps keep the air from feeling stale, maybe they have added ventilation. The bathrooms are kinda small and I had to walk outside the main play area through the small lobby. The food is good, and they have a wide selection of beverages--including adult beverages! Free parking lot. The price is about what I'd expect for an indoor play structure, when we need to get out from the rain. PLUS there's all the other stuff. I guess the money I spend on food and beverage helps keep it open. I had fun cruising through the play structure with my 7yo and my 1-1/2yo. Some adults were conversing in groups, or alone engulfed in a book. If you have kids, go. If you choose to give a thumbs-up or not, I hope you found my review helpful!

I could still understand that with all the government changes and restrictions but cant believe they demanded March and April full tuition from families impacted by the shutdowns. This is a NON-PROFIT with SEVERAL MILLION annually in sales. They have requested all parents that are lower income ask for government tuition to pay them so parents can keep their spot during COVID 19. This is a multi million dollar non-profit that is asking for limited government funds so they can continue to make money? The money should be allocated to smaller private business that are at risk! I'm disappointed.

My grandchild was in the pre-school for two 1/2 years and was constantly berated, bullied and terrified....not by the other children, but by the staff. The staff has no concept of child development and have very little training. They should be there to guide, teach and promote healthy self esteem, but instead they belittle and cause emotional damage to vulnerable minds at a crucial point in development. This causes lasting damage. They should be investigated and shut down. I am sure there are other parents out there who are afraid to speak out for fear of repercussions. Instead of speaking up, they just pull their kids out....this has to stop.

When I talked to other childcare professionals, including a child psychologist, they said these are common behaviors especially in a new environment. It saddens me how it was handled.

I rate 5 stars because I can't think of anything negative to say about Lollipop…read more We have our two children 6 and 5 attending Lollipop. Our oldest just finished kindergarten and your youngest just finished Pre-K. They charge by the week, not by the month. For our two kids full time we pay on average about $950.00 for the month. I say "on average" because some months have 5 weeks in them. The school does have some christian undertones in it's instruction. Although it is not a "christian school". I've found my kids coming home and telling me things about God every now and then. They go on field trips and outing on a regular basis. Just from short memory I can think of trips to the Capitol, to the Library, to Applebees and to Home Depot. They also give swimming lessons, gymnastics classes. They also do baking day every so often. I forget how often, but at least once a week. And our kids have participated in two school plays each year that they've been there. My daughter who has always been extremely shy, has done very well there. My son starts first grade this year, and he's well ahead of the level needed for first grade. I don't know if that's because of Lollipop or because of his mother, but I think it should be noted. We recommend Lollipop to anyone in the Keizer area.

My son attended for one year and I had so many issues beginning with the owner first of all . She is so rude and does this all for the money, she has absolutely no passion or love for the children . She never greeted me or my family. She is so bad when it comes to responding to a concern and when did respond it was in a very bothered and rude way . She demanded for every parent to bring in a snack every 1st of the month to feed every student but yet the snacks I brought in were never handed out . They later came up with an app where we could see updates on children's progress, pretty neat but it was used for the first 2 weeks and never again after that . I messaged my sons teacher several times about progress and I was told that there were too many students to deal with in order to keep tabs on my sons progress on a daily. Staff are not very friendly either only one I can say was great was teacher Jesse . I asked about leaving my son an extra 15 min after closing here and there when running late And I was charged an extra $15. If I was a couple min late I was charged given that my agreement was from 9:30-3:30. I had to be there exactly at 3:30 or I'd be charged. I brought up my concerns to other parents and many felt the same way. I can go on and on about all the issues I've had but I've said enough to state how I feel about this place . I do not recommend this place at all !!! The set up , the curriculum and the environment for the kids is great but when the owner and the staff don't make you feel welcome, it pretty much ends there. You should always feel good about who you leave your kids with, not with fear that they will not feel cared for .

They provide a fantastic assortment of foods to him to expand his pallete and each child has a daily report card of what they ate, diaper changes, and naps. All of the girls up there have great communication with me and send me photos of him throughout the day as well. It is a bit pricey but for the little extra I'm paying, I get peace of mind with the cameras and consistent communication and most of all my son loves all of the teachers up there.

Some of the issues we encountered were: 1.) They kept our initial payment of several hundred dollars because we started care a couple of weeks later than originally planned. This was not communicated to us in advance, at the logical time when we informed them of the delayed start date. It was more a case of, "We're keeping your money" when we finally began attending. Moreover, this was a regular pattern with the center, which charged its customers regular fees to keep their children's spots who weren't currently attending because of COVID. I'm not sure what the legality is, but that is what they did or still do. 2.) The Assistant Director took a full 2 weeks to respond to an inquiry when our child was already in regular care. I don't see how this is acceptable for any business. 3.) My wife and I began to notice a subtle pattern of dishonesty, where multiple times we were told one thing by the teachers and later management told us it was a mistake and that was not actually the case. There are also inaccuracies on the website. Finally, when we stopped care they kept our remaining supply of diapers, which we had provided at our own expense. They attempted to keep other personal items too, but we insisted. How is this acceptable? Sadly, it's because Salem, Oregon is in dire need of a lot more quality childcare that providers are able to get away with questionable and unprofessional practices like the ones described above.

Curriculum themes (seasons, colors, holidays, etc) are integrated with reading, pre-writing and storytelling, counting, art, and music (my daughter loves to sing the songs she's learned) and biblical stories. She is proud to know about rules, consequences, manners, and personal responsibility: i.e. clean up, sharing, communicating, etc. and has made many friends. She loves her teacher and the day care staff, all of whom are warm, knowledgeable, gentle and supportive. And she comes home happy! What could be improved? At drop-off, we working parents are in a rush, and the daycare staff isn't as cohesive as I believe they could be in helping with the transition . . . it's a little bumpy. I've seen where teachers and staff come to the car to get the kids and bring them in: I liked it because it saves time and the transition is clear-cut. Other than this minor issue, Sonshine School has been a blessing for us and I would highly recommend it.
