I don't say this lightly - we have five children who have attended schools all over the country and in India and Abu Dhabi. I think what Abiqua gets right is the balance between a rigorous academic program and a holistic approach to understanding and nurturing the whole child. Whether your child is on the gifted end of the spectrum, somewhere in the middle, or needing additional support - the teachers have proven time and again they will "meet your child where he or she is at." It's not just lip service - we have lived this. We have considered moving out of the Salem area several times and two factors keep us here, one of which is the extraordinary education our children are receiving at Abiqua. I wish every single school in Salem provided the same experience - all children deserve this kind of education.

It rains so rarely where I live, it'd be a shame to be indoors all day. It'd be rad if they could open the roof on sunny warm days. Do I ask for too much? Imagine a really good indoor play structure. Like 3+ levels high! A small play area for tiny kids. Some video arcades and such. Some adult games like corn hole, shuffleboard table, darts, and such. A full restaurant and bar! A few cabana-type small rooms for parties or whatever. And it's not too loud!!! I was worried an indoor play area would be excruciatingly noisy, and not well ventilated. It seems like the space is big enough to suppress the kids' yelling, but not so big that the echoes impose. I guess the large space also helps keep the air from feeling stale, maybe they have added ventilation. The bathrooms are kinda small and I had to walk outside the main play area through the small lobby. The food is good, and they have a wide selection of beverages--including adult beverages! Free parking lot. The price is about what I'd expect for an indoor play structure, when we need to get out from the rain. PLUS there's all the other stuff. I guess the money I spend on food and beverage helps keep it open. I had fun cruising through the play structure with my 7yo and my 1-1/2yo. Some adults were conversing in groups, or alone engulfed in a book. If you have kids, go. If you choose to give a thumbs-up or not, I hope you found my review helpful!

I have had the pleasure of dining in what can truly be one of Salem's best dining experience on two separate occasions. Both times the Menu included two entrees, two desserts and creative starters, soups and salads. The best part of the dining experience is that you can be your own "Iron Chef" judge and provide useful feedback to the students on each course. The teachers created an environment where learning was exciting and children were encouraged to be curious, creative, and independent. What truly makes Yellow House special is the people. The staff genuinely care about the children and families they serve. Over the years, they celebrated our children's successes, supported us through challenges, and became an important part of our family's story. Five children, six weeks old through age six, and every single experience was exceptional. Cloud Nine has been one of the greatest blessings for our family. They provide a fantastic assortment of foods to him to expand his pallete and each child has a daily report card of what they ate, diaper changes, and naps. The teachers/caretakers are what make a school/daycare a good experience or not. Lori and Jessie have been the primary teachers and both are extremely dedicated and care a lot about the children. Lori has always gone the extra mile to keep me updated on my daughter. My daughter runs up to her excited every day. The daycare is tidy/orderly, they do a lot of crafts, they provide healthy snacks, if you forget your kids lunch they won't call you and tell you to bring something, they'll find something for them to eat, etc. They try to be as accommodating as possible. I do think they need another full-time teacher, for support, in case anyone gets sicks, and just to make things easier for them. I also think whoever owns LMA should be more involved in helping the Salem location grow.

This was, without question, the worst customer service experience I have ever had…read more I brought my 16-year-old niece here after the salon we originally booked canceled at the last minute. Since she had traveled all the way from Eugene to get her nails done, we didn't have many options and decided to give this school a chance. They found someone to do her nails and assured us she was able to provide the service. Throughout the appointment, I kept checking on my niece because the nails were not looking right. I gently expressed my concerns several times and asked if someone could take a look or help improve them. Instead of addressing the issue, I was repeatedly told that they were about to close, as though I was asking them to stay late. At that point, we had already been there for over five hours. I had prepaid $44 for the nails and nail art. To be clear, I was never concerned about getting the extra money back for the nail art. My concern was that I had paid for a service that was not being done correctly. Every time I expressed concern about the quality of the nails, no one came over to assess the work, offer guidance to the student, or try to make the situation right. Instead, my concerns were dismissed, and I felt as though I was being gaslighted into accepting poor work. Eventually, they told us we could come back another day for the nail art, but I repeatedly explained that the issue wasn't the nail art--it was the nails themselves. The situation became even more frustrating when I later found out this was the student's first day doing nails. If that was the case, why wasn't she being supervised or guided by an instructor? Why wasn't anyone stepping in to help her succeed or to ensure customers received an acceptable service? Unfortunately, the problems continued. One nail came off as we were leaving. Another fell off the next day. Several more came off before the weekend was over. I called multiple times asking to speak with a manager, but no one ever returned my calls. Eventually, I spoke with someone named Angel. As I attempted to explain the situation, she interrupted me and immediately became defensive, stating that the appointment ran longer than expected and that I shouldn't have prepaid for the service. She repeatedly told me that they don't give refunds. The problem was that I was never asking for a refund. I explained several times that all I wanted was for the nails to be fixed. I wasn't asking anyone to stay late, and I wasn't demanding my money back. I simply wanted someone to acknowledge that the service was unacceptable and make it right. Angel then stated that they were not going to redo the nails simply because I "didn't like them." Once again, I had to explain that this wasn't about me not liking the appearance of the nails or changing my mind after the service was completed. The issue was that the nails were not properly done and were literally falling off. One nail came off as we were leaving, another came off the very next day, and several more fell off before the weekend was over. At that point, I wasn't asking for a cosmetic adjustment--I was asking them to correct a service that had clearly failed. Instead of listening, Angel continued to interrupt me and eventually responded, "Well, why don't you just go back to the other place then?" That response completely shocked me. I wasn't comparing businesses to be rude--I was explaining that in all my years of visiting beauty schools, if there was an issue, staff would step in, address the concern, and work toward a solution. I've never experienced a place that was so unwilling to listen to customer concerns or take responsibility for poor service. The lack of professionalism, communication, accountability, and customer care was incredibly disappointing. I will never return to this establishment, nor would I recommend it to anyone. Customer service starts with listening, and unfortunately, that was missing from this experience entirely.
