Stay away from Salem Tutoring Center!…read more The facility is understaffed, extremely unprofessional, disorganized, and often do not answer phone calls for an entire week. They don't apologize or even acknowledge this, and are both quite curt and rude. The office is very shabby and run down, like a free clinic, and every corner is bursting with clutter and chaos. It is not a calming environment for children to focus, it is a scattered, bustling, tense flurry, run by two people who have no interpersonal skills whatsoever. It's almost as if the Salem Tutoring Center could have been a used car lot three months ago. Things are placed randomly, there is no ambiance, and there isn't one quiet area that would be conducive to learning. The person who administers tests is known to forget or lose entire portions, only realizing it days later, which delays the entire process, and you cannot get a phone call returned no matter how urgent. It does not seem like this is the business these people wanted to be in, but just fell into it. The tutoring I observed was lukewarm, and the child(ren) were talked at, and never responded as though they had learned. They just left when their time was over. I would have nothing to do with the Salem Tutoring Center for any reason. I urge parents to explore tutoring through local high schools, Chemeketa Community College, or private high school students. If you set foot inside, you would see exactly what I've referenced.

MONEY. The staff their turned extremely negative and were attempting to guilt me into keeping my child enrolled. It was blatantly a ploy to continue a revenue stream. I was disgusted by how unprofessional they were willing to act for money. I was, and am currently, disgusted by them.

Beyond being a total math wiz, Kaity is truly an incredible mentor. She has such a beautiful way of working with kids who are struggling - she is funny, kind, direct, supportive and thoughtful. She takes the time to really get to know each kid as an individual and incorporates their strengths and their interests into all her lessons. She is such a joy to be around. Her positivity is absolutely contagious. Thank you, Kaity, for all you have done for our family. We love you!

That one success then enabled me to have the confidence to then take on a pre-med baccalaureate program (during which she helped me with chemistry and organic chemistry). And now I'm rocking it in medical school! I would not be who I am today without the empowerment Kate gave (gives!) me; it's not just study tools and help with topics that stand out for me, but even more important, the way she helps me see that women can be (and are) awesome at math and science. That confidence is something she has instilled in dozens of young women like me and it's been incredible to hear from some of them over the years about the ways she helped each of us find our path, our voice, and our success in math/science!
