They were young girls (I am 25, and have worked in retail before so I am allowed to be upset) Neither one of them once left from behind the register to greet, help, or answer any questions. My daughter chose to celebrate her 13th birthday by paying $80 for a septum piercing at Island Republic in Bluffton, SC. During the appointment, she became uncomfortable with how the interaction was handled and decided she did not want to go through with the piercing. As a parent, I fully support her listening to her instincts in that situation. No service was ultimately performed. However, when she asked about a refund, she was told that none would be provided due to store policy. While I understand that businesses have policies in place, I believe there should be some consideration--especially when the client is a minor and the procedure was not completed. A store credit or the option to reschedule at a later time would have been a reasonable and customer-focused solution. Additionally, the response from the employee when my daughter expressed discomfort could have been handled with more professionalism and understanding. This experience left my daughter feeling upset on what should have been a special day. This wasn't noticed by any staff, but rather than walk away, she brought the broken glass to the their attention. The person working the counter made the choice that recouping that $5 was more important than making the $30 sale. We paid for the glass, but left the sweatshirt. There are plenty of souvenir and clothing shops in the area that sell very much the same kind of stuff as Island Breeze. You should choose one of those instead.
