We went in on a Saturday night, there was a sign out front that said 50% off everything. Every single clothing rack in the store said 50% off. I picked out a sweatshirt, took it to the register, and they informed me that I picked out the only sweatshirt in the store that wasn't on sale! What a scam. Writing I'm sharing this experience so others can make informed decisions. My daughter chose to celebrate her 13th birthday by paying $80 for a septum piercing at Island Republic in Bluffton, SC. During the appointment, she became uncomfortable with how the interaction was handled and decided she did not want to go through with the piercing. As a parent, I fully support her listening to her instincts in that situation. No service was ultimately performed. However, when she asked about a refund, she was told that none would be provided due to store policy. While I understand that businesses have policies in place, I believe there should be some consideration--especially when the client is a minor and the procedure was not completed. A store credit or the option to reschedule at a later time would have been a reasonable and customer-focused solution. Additionally, the response from the employee when my daughter expressed discomfort could have been handled with more professionalism and understanding. This experience left my daughter feeling upset on what should have been a special day. I hope the business takes situations like this into account moving forward and considers more flexible, compassionate approaches when working with young clients. I purchased a Labubu - QR code on box scanned. We got it home only to realize the box has been taped shut and the doll inside was fake (incorrect series to what we purchased and incorrect number of teeth). Super disappointed in the dishonesty. read more

Pros- open after 5pm on Sunday! Plenty of clothing merchandise and a variety of souvenirs. John was able to snag a magnet. I looked at various hats- they have a ton of beach, ball caps, fishing hats, wide brim- you name it! They have an entire wall dedicated to Lifeguard clothing too. My daughter (12) came in to purchase souvenirs with her babysitting money store charged her 2 times. When she asked for her receipt the clerk asked her card and swiped it again! When I brought it up to clerk before leaving the store and she recused to help! Told us to contact the credit card or bank not her problem, when she clearly swiped her card 2-3 times. Shady business tried to take advantage of a kid! Shameful! read more

Shopped there today with my wife while touring the area. This establishment charges one price for cash transactions, and another if you use a credit card. NO WHERE in the store or even near the register is this policy stated. It isn't until your purchase is rung in and you hand them a credit card that they tell you there is a fee for using a credit card. When I questioned this, the nasty little woman who runs this shop chalked it up to the extra fees she has to pay for credit card transactions. I still paid with my credit card, because I wasn't carrying much cash on me, but let her know I wasn't happy with her policy. It's one thing when a gas station has a cash and a credit price, but at least they make it clear up front. Would NEVER shop there again! read more

Do NOT bring your children to this shop. I have three boys under 4 and the owner and worker were very rude to my sons. They may have nice things to buy but their relatability for young children was horrible. The owner and worker had a conversation in front of me and my family insinuating that my children were breaking the magnets. This store would be a "costumer NO service" rating from me we will not be returning nor recommending this establishment. read more

First time on the island. Island Republic is one of the many shops in the Pier Village area, but one of my favorites. Most of their t-shirts are hot pressed, so if you don't see a particular shirt and/or color you want, they will make one for you with the shirt color, wording, and color. They even have tie dye shirts!! read more
