My daughter chose to celebrate her 13th birthday by paying $80 for a septum piercing at Island Republic in Bluffton, SC. During the appointment, she became uncomfortable with how the interaction was handled and decided she did not want to go through with the piercing. As a parent, I fully support her listening to her instincts in that situation. No service was ultimately performed. However, when she asked about a refund, she was told that none would be provided due to store policy. While I understand that businesses have policies in place, I believe there should be some consideration--especially when the client is a minor and the procedure was not completed. A store credit or the option to reschedule at a later time would have been a reasonable and customer-focused solution. Additionally, the response from the employee when my daughter expressed discomfort could have been handled with more professionalism and understanding. This experience left my daughter feeling upset on what should have been a special day. I also got a T-shirt that was made locally. I love their selection and the people there are always so helpful! A nice, clean store with kitchen items, clothes, shoes and great decorations with a nautical theme. Prices are better here than some of the other stores. See you next time!
