Oh my - absolutely made our family's ENTIRE day!! Amazing shop & everyone in the family got to take several things home. Also, felt very nostalgic to me. So glad we found this hidden gem on our drive back home to Athens. We shopped for awhile in the store and the owner was amazing. Mr. Eric gave our kids a great history lesson and showed photos through the story - they loved it! We were so thankful for the time he took with us. We love the fact that he's a proud Patriot for our beautiful country. Our children loved being able to ask questions and talk with him about loving their President. What a great shop, I've seen so many post about his signs but whenever we make a trip to Saint simons we have to stop at this shop, honestly it's a must see, his items are not the trashy tasteless beach souvenirs You would normally pick up, he puts thought into the items that he puts on his shelves, and he doesn't break the bank with the items that you purchase. If you don't agree with his political views just don't bring them up, I've had great conversations with the owner but didn't bring up politics. read more

Wanted to stop by on my vacation and I was hoping I was not confusing this with a different "beach bum" store I went to years back, but it seems it's in the same place... just with less sanity. Unsettling giant political signs out front stood out like bright colors on a poisonous fish, screaming out "AVOID ME!!" Update: I have found there is a superior "Beach Bum" store with different owners who do not curse in front of children. The location is off of St. Simon's island at 55 Creek View Ln Brunswick, GA 31520 There is a wider variety of shells and Knick knacks here and a much bigger building with very friendly front of store people who will tell you the information you want to know about the shells! Based on his very negative signs which he has the right to post, I have the right NOT to even go in the store. Over 600, 000 people in the United Stayes have died from Covid. Many due to listening to this type of ignorance. I don't care what great merchandise is in this store. I will go elsewhere or order online. My daughter and nieces always loved this little shop. Hang you trump sign, you do you. But the windows covered in every obnoxious anti- liberal sentiment? No "panties" required. Amazing that these people get so offended by the owner's right to display his political opinion yet are silent when radical leftist groups burn down entire businesses in major cities. The people complaining about the signs are exactly what is wrong with America. People are easily offended, manipulated, and are too scared to use common sense. Great little tourist shop with some items you buy for family members that didn't get to come on vacation with you.

It's an interesting shop in terms of variety of shells and things. We roamed about and purchased several items. I also complimented the lady at the cash register on the variety of things they had. The partisan stuff is kind of offensive and honestly, not sure it is appropriate to have some quite vitriolic and offensive signs up when you are open to the general public. My one son, who is 10, said some of the things were racist. I found it interesting that there was all of this nationalistic and patriotic stuff throughout the store, when in fact, some of the shells being sold were labeled 'Phillipines'. Whatever the case, it is a good reminder that the partisanship in this country, and especially in the case of these far right wackadoodles, is anti-patriot. They are no more patriotic than the moon has Earth's gravity. And yes, we did wear masks despite the signage posted recommending otherwise. Natural selection is an effective process. read more

Unique store along the main downtown St. Simons' drag. Lots of shells and other interesting gifts from the sea.

Same gifts as elsewhere. Cashier was rude to customers who asked for a receipt telling them that this isn't Walmart. Get with it and provide receipts. Pay with cash and EXACT change because they shorted my daughter. Apparently theft is so high they short customers to make up for it. I wouldn't dare use a card because they'll probably steal directly from your account to fill their bank accounts. Beware here. read more

The owner was exceptionally rude to my son, who has autism. Apparently my son was touching something he didn't want him to touch. When I politely asked him to not yell at my son, because he has autism, he went from 0 to 100 and rudely told me to get out of his store. I looked at him confused and he said by Georgia law he didn't have to sell to anyone he didn't want to and for me to take my kid and get out! It was so scary that my son started to cry and three strangers from the back of the store came and defended us. He then screamed at everyone and told us all to leave. Everyone gladly put their stuff down and left the store. It was so traumatic that they all came to us after and tried to apologize for the owners actions and for us not to think the island is all like him. Big black eye for St. Simon's Island! read more
