Visiting the pier was the absolute best part of our trip! We ended each evening with dinner then a walk along all of the shops stopping by the pier, the playground and a visit down one of the staircases to look at the water up close so pretty!! The views are absolutely breathtaking. When we went it was busy but it didn't feel overly busy because there is so much space. People were fishing, walking around, shopping and enjoying the night I really felt like I was in a Hallmark movie lol! The playground was bustling with kids well after dark the playground equipment was well maintained and for all ages. Lots of spots to sit and enjoy the views. All in all it was the perfect place to end each evening!

Just a basic fishing pier with very friendly locals. One guy told us the whole story begind the Golden Ray cargo ship that capsized and Dan and is laying on its left side. They are set to remove it in October and that would be really cool to watch! The pier has great views of the water and Lighthouse and nearby bridge. It is very peaceful here.

I suspect this place is loved more by locals than a big tourist destination. While it has several typical touristy shops this quaint spot gives off more small town beach vibes than anything else. Beautiful walks next to the ocean, a large pier for fishing or relaxing and a beautiful light house for a picturesque backdrop. Even on a hot evening, the breeze from the ocean keeps you comfortable. The walking path is well cared for with plenty of benches to stop, sit and enjoy the views. There was plenty of parking, places to eat and stores to shop in. The lighthouse is attached to a museum and you are able to wander the grounds and read about the local history. Of note, I didn't notice any beach access in this area if you are looking for that.

Nice large pier to view lighthouse, fish, relax. It is 1/2 way covered and has a cool breeze. Lots of places to sit

This is a nice fishing pier. I got a kick out of the "No Drone Zone" signs. They have fishing measuring areas to prevent illegal catches. They have a fish cleaning station. They also have contact information for injured sea turtles, which I greatly appreciate as a sea turtle lover. You can get a nice view of the lighthouse from the pier as well.

    2/5/18 So beautiful!

The Pier is simply breathtaking, with the view of the water and lighthouse you can see in the distance! We visited here to see family on 2/5/18 for the first time and they had some neat little shops near by we checked out, as well as quite a few restaurants! They also have a park nearby for kids to have fun! If your in the area and looking for the perfect tourist spot to visit, I would recommend stopping by this well known place! I know we had a lot of fun!

Love this pier! It's right in Neptune Park. Best views approaching the pier from the SSI Lighthouse. There is a busker or two playing live music at sunset. The guy I saw was excellent. He played rhythm while he did guitar too, didn't miss a beat. Thought it was a band when I approached. Wish I had a video but I was chasing my toddler. And speaking of, this pier is really not safe for young kids. The railing can easily let small kids slip through, and there are gaps at the dock end, where boats are still using it to land, so more danger zones. If you can strap little ones in a stroller, that will allow you to best enjoy the pier! Views of Jekyll and Sidney Lanier Bridge, as well as looking back at SSI, all so cool! And with sunset and music too, oh so amazing!!!

Very nice pier that has some branches to spread out. Fishing must be allowed from the pier. Many people were fishing and netting from the pier. There is a shark jaw on display that was caught there. Enjoy the photos, I will see you on Yelp. Happy Yelping

While I can't speak for the fishing at the pier, the views are fantastic and the proximity to the retail center of St. Simons couldn't be better! Always a busy place the St. Simons Islam Pier is a stopping point for every visit we make make to the area. There is a great view of the lighthouse and the best look at the current salvage operation, where a grounded cargo ship is literally being cut in sections by a massive band saw! Today we saw a huge kite being flown from the pier that the operator had a chest mounted winch to keep it under control. Definitely a nice place to visit when visiting or maybe even trying your luck at catching dinner?

For those of you, Gentle Readers, who have thought, "Can't this guy write a short review," take heart, for here 'tis. After a nice shrimp lunch at Iguana's, Peg and I decided to take a stroll to the pier. It wasn't far, just about three blocks past other restaurants and shops, even one offering to rent all you need to go fishing or crabbing. The pier is excellently maintained. It was very clean and, despite some reviews mentioning unpleasant smells, there were none at this time. It was fairly deserted except for a few tourists like us--and the seabirds, of course. The covered section has long rows of benches on either side of the walkway. Sitting there, listening to the water moving against the pylons, will instantly calm frayed nerves and make one right with the world. It's a perfect place to bring a picnic lunch or just a snack. And it must be a popular place to do just that as within a minute of seating ourselves, seagulls started hitting us up for food. And I swear they had indignant looks on their faces when they discovered we had none! The pier is located by Neptune Beach with its adjacent park; so turn the kids loose and give yourself a few minutes of blessed silence.

The king and prince resort recommend we come check this place out. I was very impressed with park and pier overall. It's pretty big, open, clean and plenty places to sit and relax. I didn't see much people fishing but more people strolling, chilling on the benches and bike riding in the area. Convenient because it's near shops and restaurants.

The St. Simons Island Pier is a nice casual ending to a beach day. Located in the Village, it's a no frills attraction where people watching and shark fisherman take the main stage. There is plenty of parking nearby and it's free and open to the public. So grab an ice cream, and a bench, and watch the stunning Golden Isle sunset from the pier. A delightful way to close a beautiful day.

If you ever get mad at your boat and want to sell it go here first. This disgusting pier will make you remember why you purchased a boat. It took a few minutes to get the cigarette stench out of my nose. I didn't see anything caught studying the few minutes we were there.

I liked it out there. I went fishing. Crabs were on it when I was there and some whiting. Place was pretty clean when I was there.

We came here to see their fishing pier, not realizing that it's also a venue for horseback riding. But the signs say this as you are entering the area. This is one of the few really buggy places we encountered on island. In fact, the buggiest. We were glad we had some spray on. So, plan ahead if you're coming here. We drove in on a very narrow road along with a few of the bicycle riders. We passed some of the picnic areas with tables and grills. We parked along the water in the small, paved lot next to the bait and tackle shop/convenience store (it seems to have a bit of everything). We took a walk part of the way down the pier. It is quite large and T-shaped with a straightaway section that's open air and a partly covered area further out into the water. We stopped and talked to some of those who were fishing. We were curious to see what they were catching, if anything. We were told flounder and sheepshead. (Just a note: both are tasty fish, and we were surprised to find no restaurants on island serving either of these fish.). It was delightful with a slight breeze. The park is located across the road from a campground so that may be why there were a lot of bike riders here. In addition, there is a jogging trail which we didn't explore. Supposedly you can see some ships from this pier, as well, but we didn't see any at the time we were there.

This area features a fishing pier, a bait & tackle / convenience shop, picnic areas, grill areas, public restrooms, beach access, views of the sunset, bike and hiking paths, and pens from which the horseback rides embark. This is a very cool place, but i experienced two drawbacks. One was the gnats. Nowhere else on the island did I get gnats than here. I was all over the island, all times of day and night, and honestly this was the only spot where i felt any bugs! I presume it's because of the fish being caught everywhere, but still it's unpleasant. I wish the parks department would look into insect control. If toxins are a concern, natural solutions like nematodes and bats are great at controlling bugs. The other issue was some of the people who consistently hung out at this location. I definitely felt safe everywhere on this island, but I did feel a little intimidated at this spot with some of the fishermen. It seemed like people were casing one another, for what, I do not know. But there was this weird anxiousness and paranoia going on for a lot of the fishing people. Maybe they were competing with one another for the best spot to fish? Just kind of pacing past one another, giving dirty looks. Odd. Or maybe they were just losing their minds from the bugs? People were definitely on edge any time I visited this place. I smiled at many, no one smiled back. Just odd. So those things aside, I recommend you plan to wear bug repellent and just keep moving around as you visit this place. Idk how people were grilling and having picnics with those gnats. Good for them. But my advice is to just make your rounds to see everything and hike it outta there to anywhere else on the island if you want to just sit and chill!

We contacted Jeff Stokes at Reel Stoked Charter Fishing and booked a half day trip fishing in the backwater. We showed up at the Pier and were greeted by the Captain. We got settled in the boat and took off for what ended up being a GREAT day of fishing! We used fresh shrimp as bait and casted slip bobbers up stream and used the current to drift them to the holes where the fish were at. We caught spotted trout, redfish, and my wife even caught a bonnet head shark! We fished on points and also casted and drifted over some oyster beds. It was pretty cool too to hear Tarpon jumping and splashing off in the distance. We enjoyed getting to know Jeff and had some very pleasant and engaging conversation during the day. Jeff has a really nice and clean boat that can fish three guests comfortably. The boat is equipped with up to date electronics and GPS technology and all the necessary safety equipment. The only drawback, and it is very slight, is that there is no overhead canopy on the boat or toilet. So make sure you wear a good sized hat and sunscreen and use the toilets at the pier before you depart. This was my first time fishing for these species of fish and we had a blast! Next time we are in SSI, we will be going out fishing again with Reel Stoked Charter Fishing and Captain Jeff Stokes! A nice plus too is that he accepts major credit cards including AMEX!!
