Located across the street from Don Quijote

A Catholic Church in Urban Honolulu, Hawaii... Across the street (Kaheka Street) from Don Quijote is Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. I had never been inside before, so, when my mom mentioned that Uncle Larry Lee's memorial service was going to be held here, I was in! There's a small, free parking lot behind and alongside the church. Just enter from Kaheka Street. We entered the church from the back entrance which faces the parking lot. The convenient restroom is located here in this reception area. There's another (front) entrance from Kaheka Street. Inside, the pews are arranged in a semi-circular fashion, facing the altar. The ceiling is really awesome! It provided a comfy, yet spacious feel. I appreciated the air conditioning, soft lighting, clean carpets, and especially the candle niche where local Saints (Father Damien and Mother Marianne Cope of Molokai) were included with the famous Saints Peter and Paul. Mom and I are familiar with Father Kahn, who said the Mass. He used to be at St. Stephen Church, our home parish. It was nice to see him again, in his same professional manner. The music was really good. The piano and guitar really complimented the songs such as "On Eagles Wings", "Here I Am Lord", "Kanaka Waiwai", and "Aloha 'Oe". Overall, I felt like this was an appropriate venue for saying farewell to Uncle Larry who was the Director of Veterans Affairs, after retiring from the US Army. He went to mass every day - walking from his apartment to The Cathedral - until his legs failed him. He was a devoted husband to Aunty Dora (RIP) and Aunty Vickie, and a loving father to his three children. Aloha 'oe, Uncle Larry... Until we meet again!

Beautiful church where our best friends got married in. Spacious, simple and elegant. Would definitely recommend this church if you're planning to get married.

Noon mass is a little dry and the Filipino priest is not that easy to understand at times but it's a nice building and has convenient daily mass schedules Across the street is the Don Quixote store. This is like a Japanese Target and you must go to this place. The plate lunch BBQ place in front wasn't that great so you might try the one inside but they have amazing things in there so go after mass.

Excellent service here. I come on Sundays at 9am. The priest always welcomes new comers or visitors before the mass begins. Their choir/musicians, "GRATIA PLENA", sound fantastic.

Small church, but loved the sermon.

The heart for our church is unlike any other we've been to and that's why after 4 years we still call Vive Church our home. Be part of a church that can outlast a pandemic and can build more faith over fear. Our local pastors and global pastors are all about lifting each other up and building community. I love it because there are so many different ways to serve and that's one thing we are definitely good at. But again the heart why we do everything is something only you will learn by stepping in faith and joining a team to serve and build church. Vive Church is so special to us because I see how my 2 year old son is now worshipping with us and praying with us and just see his faith growing right before our eyes. We have a ROYAL KIDS program that teaches them so much about growing in their faith that it's hard for him to leave every Sunday because he loves it so much. I can't say how much I love the people at Vive and can't wait to meet more of you who are still looking for a church. We hope to meet you soon! Much Aloha!!! - The Dayaos

They have three screens (modern church), live music with singers, and a Christmas presentation where children were dancing to religious Christmas music. They also had "fake snow" fall from the ceiling for a part of it. In addition, there is ample and free parking. A whole parking lot is dedicated toward this church on Sunday. The holiday sermon was about 2 hours long from 11 am to 1 pm. It was a lengthier mass I've been to, but it was definitely enjoyable!

She was wearing a bun. Then another lady came forward with long hair. She started screaming and yelling into the microphone and running around the stage changing the worship experience. Even folks around me wondered what happened. It was so loud and felt like someone was screaming into a megaphone. The rest of the praise team was awesome and very enjoyable. They set the tone for a lovely song for a service. The leaders should consider another praise song leader who doesn't scream into the mic for over 5 minutes (in an effort to "sing").

Sunday night was another of multiple life changing messages to me. My childhood consisted of being send from relatives to relatives, who says they love me and also got rid of me when they didn't want me. I spend my whole life looking for my identity and everywhere I turned to hurts me. When pastor says my identity IS in Christ, and expounded on that, well, I am FINALLY free from this lifelong burden. I second all the good things the other members have posted on here. God bless.
