We attended a candlelight concert here and ambiance was so ethereal! The acoustics was very good- the music of the string quartet soared. The only downside (and it was definitely minor) was the wooden pews were uncomfortable on my butt after awhile. It was also a bit warm but there were fans to use in the pews. We came early and snagged parking in front. It's a paid lot. We've also attended weddings here in this beautiful cathedral. FYI- there's much Hawaiian history connected to this church and girls' school. You can just feel it as you walk into the church and in the adjoining hall.

12-11-2023 Yesterday afternoon was the 2 nd time we attended Iolani's Christmas choir concert. Last year we had an obstructed view by sitting on the left blocked by a pillar and the conductress' body. But yesterday our granddaughter's mom was the first in line and waited in full sun prepared with a chair, leis and more. Hooray cuz we ended up in the second pew as the first pew was saved for the two teachers. The view was perfect as we could see all the action: the photographer, lower and upper school choirs, the director playing the keyboard and more. One instructor shared that it is a long standing tradition for Iolani to hold it at St. Andrews Cathedral for the acoustics and beautiful venue. She made mention of the heat generated in there as evidenced by the hand fans in the pews. Wearing a face mask, it felt a couple degrees higher but if you sit back and marvel at the beauty surrounding you of stunning arches, stained glass high above and the harmony of voices plus a few solos you will be fine. Once we attended a wedding there and someone actually fainted. Hopefully that is a rare occurrence. Happy holidays hope you are enjoying the sounds of the season. Mele Kalikimaka.

This is a beautiful Cathedral and has a wonderful location. We found it closed when we visited so we did not get to view the interior. We were very disappointed as the stained glass windows are supposed to be gorgeous.

This is my favorite place and structure. Dec.3th,2012.My daughter got married wth a lot of blessing in this cathdral. At that time,I got to know this place and structure is loved by many hawaiian people. So we have to respect the culture and this histrical place ,structure. Now my wife's father has goon. That was a special memory of him.

A beautiful cathedral and a wonderful place to attend services. The Sunday service schedule is: 7:00 am Holy Eucharist 8:00 am Ka `Eukalikia Hemolele with the Hawaiian Choir 10:30 am Sung Eucharist with the Cathedral Choir 5:00 pm Changing Ringing of the Great Cathedral Bells 5:30 pm Choral Evensong The 7am service is a shorter service with very little singing. In the 8am service all of the songs and some of the readings are in the Hawaiian language. It's very spiritual and comforting to hear the Psalms chanted and the hymns sang in Hawaiian. The 10:30am is a tradition Episcopalian service with a full choir. All three service provide something different depending on what you are looking for. After the 8am service there are refreshments in the outdoor courtyard and everyone is very welcoming and friendly. I highly recommend St. Andrew for anyone looking for a church home.

The heart for our church is unlike any other we've been to and that's why after 4 years we still call Vive Church our home. Be part of a church that can outlast a pandemic and can build more faith over fear. Our local pastors and global pastors are all about lifting each other up and building community. I love it because there are so many different ways to serve and that's one thing we are definitely good at. But again the heart why we do everything is something only you will learn by stepping in faith and joining a team to serve and build church. Vive Church is so special to us because I see how my 2 year old son is now worshipping with us and praying with us and just see his faith growing right before our eyes. We have a ROYAL KIDS program that teaches them so much about growing in their faith that it's hard for him to leave every Sunday because he loves it so much. I can't say how much I love the people at Vive and can't wait to meet more of you who are still looking for a church. We hope to meet you soon! Much Aloha!!! - The Dayaos

They also had "fake snow" fall from the ceiling for a part of it. In addition, there is ample and free parking. A whole parking lot is dedicated toward this church on Sunday. The holiday sermon was about 2 hours long from 11 am to 1 pm. It was a lengthier mass I've been to, but it was definitely enjoyable!

She was wearing a bun. Then another lady came forward with long hair. She started screaming and yelling into the microphone and running around the stage changing the worship experience. Even folks around me wondered what happened. It was so loud and felt like someone was screaming into a megaphone. The rest of the praise team was awesome and very enjoyable. They set the tone for a lovely song for a service. The leaders should consider another praise song leader who doesn't scream into the mic for over 5 minutes (in an effort to "sing").

Since coming here in Feb of this year, I have overcome decade long sins and having joy in worship, fellowship, etc. I am like did I even go to church before coming here. Sunday night was another of multiple life changing messages to me. My childhood consisted of being send from relatives to relatives, who says they love me and also got rid of me when they didn't want me. I spend my whole life looking for my identity and everywhere I turned to hurts me. When pastor says my identity IS in Christ, and expounded on that, well, I am FINALLY free from this lifelong burden. I second all the good things the other members have posted on here. God bless.

I've valued those words through the years as I've moved around and sought a church to plug into. What I can say about New Hope Manoa is that I've met a lot of great people who genuinely try to love others, and I find the teaching to be biblically based. I love the kupuna (elders) who try their best to model faithfulness and kindness. The worship is not flashy, but heartfelt. I especially appreciate when the youth lead worship or when a single aunty is on stage with a guitar because she wants to help people connect with Jesus. Pastor Rod helps the church not just understand scripture, but try to live it out. He has a heart of a shepherd, whether visiting someone who is sick or texting someone who hasn't been around in a while to check in. I love the "Show God, Share Aloha" ministry that helps people with food, utilities, health needs, etc. Every church has its problems like my mentor said 20 years ago, but the goal is to try to be more like Jesus in humility and love. And I see that in many people at New Hope Manoa. Services are Sundays at 9:30am at the auditorium at Mid-Pac in Manoa. Lots of parking available! Dress up or wear a tank top and board shorts. Either way, people will try to welcome you well.
