My review is based on the history and architecture of the church and not on attending a service. I…read moream fascinated by architecture and Hawaii offers unique examples of missionary architecture that you just don't see anywhere else in the U.S. So while most visitors go to the beach, I'm most likely poking my nose in old buildings. Central Union Church captured my imagination. The church was built in 1922, but its history dates back much further. Seamen's Bethel was established in 1833 to minister to sailors stopping in Honolulu. This small group grew organically and through a merger, building larger structures until construction of the current structure began in 1922 and completed in 1924. Ralph Adams Cram of Boston was the architect of the structure that is considered by some as the most beautiful church. The Colonial Revival stone block structure is impressive. The local volcanic stone is from the, now closed, Mo'il'ili Quarry. The interior maintains elaborate cornice detail and stained glass windows. I could feel the history when I walked into the massive sanctuary. The building and spire were renovated in the 1980's through local donation. A smaller chapel was added in 1949 with similar architecture. A dedicated parking lot is located west of the sanctuary. This magnificent church is worth a visit if you are interested in historical architecture.

She attends Sunday service here because it's less crowded, has free parking, and is convenient for her. I decided to have an adventure. I drove out to the Kahala area and sit next to my friend. It was interesting because most of the mass is in English and some parts are in Chinese. Father Paul greeted us in Mandarin. One of the readers spoke in Cantonese. The Homily by Father Paul started in English... Then, he switched to Mandarin and presented his Homily again. Instead of using missalettes (prayer books), there are overhead monitors that display the prayers and responses in both English and Chinese. That's cool! I really enjoyed the music. The male soloist and piano player were quite good! I wanted to sing along, but my friend whispered to me that singing is not encouraged because it could potentially spread COVID. Hmmm! The doors were all open to take advantage of the natural cross ventilation from the tradewinds. The ceiling fans were also being used as well as some floor fans. The statues were intriguing! I was able to recognize St. Christopher, St. Francis, St. Therese, Our Lady of Fatima, and Mother Mary! It was a comforting feeling to be in the presence of greatness! Overall, I had a great experience here! Maybe I will visit more often because it was calm and pleasant!

For one, they live what they preach and the pastor would never tell you to do something or give to something that he wouldn't! Our Senior Pastors, Dr. James and Colleen Marocco are 100% all the time! Worship is no joke!!! It goes beyond the lights, it's literally the Holy Spirit that leads worship! There are soo much things that KC does that goes above and beyond your expectations for a church. Let's start with the amazing parking lot team! All first time guest are given special parking right in front of the entrance! You are taken into the front, where amazing greeters will welcome you as you enter! Our decor is always on fleeek! Right now, we have an amazing Christmas Themed lobby. They have a cute cafe area with specialty drinks, fresh cooked breakfast and lunch before and after services! Our food is freshly made by an amazing chef back there with her amazing Team! follow their IG @Kingscafeoahu! The food always sells out so get it quickly after service! Let's not forget the famous chocolate chip cookies!!!! Sooo good, and as a new comer, you are given a free cookie and beverage of your choice. Did i mention we even have Keto coffee? Or, a specialty drink created by one of the specialist, The MANA!!! Mmmmmm... I guess you would have to check it out to see what it is.. The church is very involved with the community too! They do food distribution about 2 times a month(subject to change). They did a Christmas Angel Tree donation where we exceeded our goal to reach those in need! They are all about giving. Again, their leaders don't tell you to do something they wouldn't do! There is soo many more reasons to go, but... one thing is for sure, you won't go to a service and leave without something you need to hear!!! God always has a message for you, rather it's for an event, like a Christmas Play(happening this weekend), or just to check it out... I pray that the Lord will bless you on this visit! And I hope to see you at one of these services!!!

On a 3rd…read moreday of my WATER FAST I asked a fellow Catholic for a ride to Bishops office next to Cathedral for my appointment with a Monsignor Secore - a true man of God. I asked as on a prior occasion - each one of 3 cab rides - the demons cancelled as they are threatened when Christians unite in prayer. Thus we arrived an hour early. Holy spirit directed me to SEE THE Cathedral from the inside while waiting .. it was CLOSED. Yet Holy Spirit was clear - you are seeing the Cathedral. As A Christian Intercessor I learnt obedience to the HS as so many times he directs me to people and places and he is ALWAYS RIGHT. Sure enough, 1 mnt later a modest older gentleman approached wearing slacks and beach shirt.. HI, "I am Bishop Larry" would you be interested in joining a private tour of the Cathedral? I am giving a tour to a few pastors from the mainland." I was SPEECHLESS but filled with the HOLY SPIRIT fire. Yes, Bishop - so nice to meet you. We were just praying for you at mass today! What followed was an incredible Spirit Guided tour by our beloved Bishop Larry of the Catholic Dioscese of Honolulu. He even offered me a Blessing and special prayers. I made it to my appointment to Msgr Secore office and when i got home, there was a letter in my mailbox.. from that same Bishop I just Met: THANK YOU FOR YOUR DONATIONS, I AM PRAYING FOR YOU, BISHOP LARRY." Indeed he WAS. Now 2+ years flew by with Holy Spirit making HUNDREDS MORE of miraculous appointments.. as the End is NEAR and Christ is preparing the Earth for his Return. SO many of God's children suffer in affliction by the demons, and Christ needs each one of us Christian Believers to do the same and greater works.. as he went unto the Father.. Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised. John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
