Quite some time ago, Sandals had a guest pastor visiting from Hawaii. Pastor Wayne shared a message that coincided with his book, Divine Mentor, and I remember leaving that day feeling incredibly blessed. Then, during a trip to Hawaii in 2022, I wanted to attend New Hope Church in Oahu. I drove all the way there... and then drove right past it because I was too scared to walk in alone. This year, I've been praying for courage. I've been asking God to help me do the things that stretch me, the things I don't always feel confident enough to do. Today, I finally walked through the doors of New Hope. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with so much kindness. They placed a shell lei around my neck, took the time to talk with me, and made me feel like I belonged. I couldn't help but tear up. It reminded me so much of what Sandals felt like 15 years ago, the warmth, the authenticity, the love, and the joy of being surrounded by people who genuinely reflect the heart of Jesus. God showed up in a mighty way. The first song alone was confirmation He knows me and my fears and blesses my willingness to walk through them and in these doors. I'm so thankful I didn't let fear win this time. God continues to show me that courage isn't about having no fear, it's about trusting Him enough to take the next step anyway. When I first moved to Hawaii two years ago I was looking for three things in a church:…read more - I would be challenged by the message - I would find a community - I would be able to serve in the church I was house hunting when I noticed One Love's Compassion Cafe. I attended service that weekend, was floored by the convicting prayers and message by a guest speaker, started serving at the Cafe the next weekend, and got connected to the young adults group within the month. I really put myself out there and in the beginning it did feel lonely. But it only takes a few people to extend grace and I was in the fold soon enough. The message: Kahu Waxer is a brilliant teacher. What I really enjoy about the line-by-line scripture store is that this addresses all of the Bible. I've moved over a dozen times in my life and often church sermons are topical, recycled, and safe. Then I come to One Love and was astounded to start learning again. Sometimes the humor can be real kine local. Serving: There are so many areas to serve in, whether your passion is with media or worship or children. You can be a greeter, an emcee, a bible study leader. You can help out with the middle schoolers, high schoolers, young adults, babies. You can cook for and serve at Entertaining Angels or assist with yard work during the Kapuna outreaches. You can even be a Levite, picking up the odds and ends of tasks that are critical but often forgotten. There are always ways to serve. Community: People won't ever be satisfied going through life looking for churches to cater to them. That said, I think One Love does a phenomenal job trying to intelligently and effectively meet the needs of all who walk through the door. But the best kind of community is the one where you also feed into. Without my peoples, I would have never gotten involved in facilitating bible study, flown to other islands to vacation, had cookouts and birthday parties and dive expeditions. I would have compromised my morals time and time again if not for wonderful accountability partners. And all of this centered on Jesus. It's been pretty amazing being here.

The chapel's beauty, the freedom and miracles echoed within its walls, and the convenience of having a 7-Eleven next door make lingering after service both easy and enjoyable.

They have three screens (modern church), live music with singers, and a Christmas presentation where children were dancing to religious Christmas music. They also had "fake snow" fall from the ceiling for a part of it. In addition, there is ample and free parking. A whole parking lot is dedicated toward this church on Sunday. The holiday sermon was about 2 hours long from 11 am to 1 pm. It was a lengthier mass I've been to, but it was definitely enjoyable!

Huikala is an amazing and warm church family that welcomes you with open arms! I've never experienced anything like that at a church. You feel like you really belong there. Pastor Anthony preaches from the Word of God every Sunday and you hear the Gospel every sermon. His sermons are challenging and convicting (Praise God!!!!). You will grow here! He gives you real life application to go out into your week, make change, be more Christ like, and make disciples of all nations! Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life and you will find people seeking after Truth at Huikala and feel His Love here!

Inspire church and Pastors Mike and Lisa Kai have completely changed the entire trajectory of my life for what I believe is God's best for me and my family! I've met my best friends here, started my business bc of the favor of God on this house and Ps Mike's constant encouragement from platform. I don't know where my life would be right now had I not walk through the doors of Inspire Church in the Waikele Shopping Center back in 2012. I am excited to raise my kids in this church, and to support and carry the vision that God has given my senior pastors! My wife and I are very blessed to call Inspire Church home!

I asked her if ahe wanted to attend this concert at St. Andrew's Cathedral and she agreed... especially because a String Quartet was playing! I got our tickets online and received email reminders and the tickets via QRcode. Parking after 6pm was free in metered street stalls nearby. Parking at St. Andrew's Cathedral had a fee. The unfortunate thing about this venue was that it has no air-conditioning. Each pew had some lauhala hand-held manual fans, but they were to be shared. I felt a very slight breeze from the cross ventilation of the open windows. The good thing about this historical venue was the acoustics. It also had beautiful architecture, stained glass windows, graceful arches, etc. The quartet played twelve songs: Bad Human Nature Rock With You Billie Jean Say Say Say We Are The World Smooth Criminal Heal The World Remember The Time Earth Song Thriller Beat It It was wonderful to hear familiar songs in a different way! The four gals shared humorous anecdotes about the songs; sometimes snapping their fingers; sometimes tapping on their instruments (becausethere were no percussion instruments); and sometimes singing out a phrase like, "Who's Bad!" The concert was very organized. The ushers and ticket scanners seem like they've all done their jobs before. I asked about the restroom... it's in the next building and down the hall. We went early to get the best seats in our Zone C. Some of the people who arrived after us had to sit behind pillars. The doors closed promptly on time. No late entrances. Thanks to the String Quartet for playing this Tribute to Michael Jackson for the first time in Hawaii! It was fabulous!

Attended a public memorial for a very dear and highly respected woman who dedicated her life to…read morePeace. Homily was presented by The Rt. Rev. Robert L. Fitzpatrick, Bishop of Hawaï'i. Members of The Kai'ulani Choir sang beautiful hymns throughout the service, and a loving Hula was performed to start off the evening's program. What a spiritual experience it was sitting in this church, looking around at the Altar and the stained glass windows, feeling the cool evening breeze flow through the sanctuary. Although I'm not a religious person, I would consider coming back for a Sunday Mass.
