St. Patrick's Catholic Church is a beautiful 100-year old church in the Adelaide central business district. If you are staying at the Hilton Adelaide or orient yourself with Victoria Square/Central Market area, the church is about a 6 minute, 6 block walk down Grote.
While the Catholic Cathedral in Adelaide is under renovation -- masses are being held in St. Patrick. St. Francis Xavier is a grand church. But St. Patrick's is small and beautiful.
In the July 2015 time period, masses were held at a variety of times -- including Sat. night vigil mass and an early "no music" mass at 7am (very well done). If you attend mass, the readings etc. are on a nicely done white sheet which you pick up on the way into mass.
Church was built in 1912-1914 period. Stations of the cross date to 1914. Stained glass windows are beautiful. Ordinarily hosts Croatian and other specialized language masses. I was glad that I got to attend mass here. read more
