The Phoenix School was life-changing for my son. He had really struggled at his old school, and had…read morebegun to internalize negative messages about himself. But once he started at the Phoenix School, things turned around. He came home after the first day and said, "It's like the teachers aren't even teachers--they're just people!" The caring relationship with his teachers, the community at the school, the way his teachers push him to do more than he thought he could and support him as he learns to push himself has been amazing. He loves school now and is thriving academically, socially, and emotionally. The way they integrate learning across all their activities is special. Students learn all the academic skills throughout all their activities, along with specialized practice in, say, math or writing, especially as they get older. They also use the community at large as their classroom with frequent out-of-the-classroom learning experiences that engage students far more than anything I've seen at any other school. Teachers support students as they produce high-quality work, with autonomy and ownership over their own learning. Teachers are among the most dedicated professional educators I've ever met. They work hard to create a community of students, faculty, staff, parents, and community members dedicated to the well-being and education of students as complete people. It's not possible for me to say enough good things about this school.

Both of my kids were good students upon entering Tower School, but because Tower has small class sizes they were able to receive lots of extra attention in English, Math, and the Arts. They blossomed as readers, writers, artists, and each discovered a love of technology. Both also played sports and participated in the middle school drama program. It was wonderful to see them develop as young people, and discover what excited them at school. Our whole family made lifelong friends a Tower too. My son and daughter graduated from Tower School and headed to excellent high schools and performed beautifully there as well. Five stars from this family!!

This small what I can only describe actually as an island town, because the only way to get to this town is on one road called the Causeway. Other than the Causeway you only have two other ways to get there. The first is to walk along Nahant Beach from Lynn. FYI they do have a nice walking/bicycle path that stretches along the entire length of the beach. The 3rd and last way unless you take a helicopter would be by boat. Once in Nahant you will immediately feel as if you stepped back 50 years in time and are safely placed in a quaint little town somewhere in Americas long forgotten past. Everything about this town screams 1950's America. Let's talk beaches. Nahant has some gorgeous beaches. From Nahant's premier beach (Nahant Beach) to small untouched almost private spots like Canoe Beach. You will definitely leave the island happy. The houses, believe it or not are very affordable for such a location, and so many with a fabulous view. They also have a nice ball park and some great food spots. If you go for one day, take a quick peek at the library etc. as some of the older structures on the island are very pleasurable sites if your into architecture. I give Nahant a Solid 5 Stars
