What a homey place. I've been touring around libraries, and I can confidently say I really enjoyed…read morethis one. It's a treasure to me, filling with lots of gold n jewels....except its books and movies and things along those lines. I've never been to a library with a gift shop! Or a library that lets you check out cds! Or a library with three stories if you include the downstairs. Now imagine that all into three, how amazing. I'd also like to compliment the infastructure inside and outside. Decor is so cozy and amazing, and the outside is furnished with plants, trees...anything you could think of! How fun. The place was very organized as well! Very impressive I dare say. Everything seems perfect. So why am I giving this place a four stars? Service was a little rocky in my opinion, because the librarian checking us out and "helping us" was slacking very much. There was no whimsy, no joy, no shine or polish, nothing. This is why three out of five of the CDS I checked out were still locked, very unprofessional. This library is awesome though! Of course, as they say, a few bad apples don't ruin the whole batch so I want to overall give kudos to this library! I enjoyed my visit, thank you for making my stay feel awesome Kirkwood Public Library!

This is a somewhat nice library, but boy is it old -- and it shows. Very strong musty/mildewy smell…read morewhen you walk in, low ceilings, and overall just a dated look. The staff were friendly and there was a decent selection given the library's small size, but I'd much rather go to the Grant's View Branch in Affton.

A friend and I attended the "Landscapes and Lemonade" event at the Schlafly branch of the St Louis…read morePublic Library (SLPL) this past weekend. These events fill quickly through their online events calendar form, so we were glad to have the opportunity to grab some spots. I was disappointed to see that not everyone who signed up attended because participation is so highly sought after. The event itself was nice and relaxing. We enjoyed the two hours of painting and hope to finish later with our own paints at home as it wasn't quite enough time to tackle the whole painting. This branch is not my favorite of the public library for a couple of reasons. 1) there is a lot of blank space in the library; it's not very cosy or inviting. 2) Parking is a BEAR. Until the city as a whole becomes more walkable/metro accessible, it's unreasonable to have a library with paid parking. It makes it much more difficult to choose to frequent this branch.

Being a library patron has saved me so, so much money in the past two years. Seriously, if you…read morehaven't used a public library in a while hop back on the train. Books 5/5- WIDE selection with almost everything accessible. The city and county have merged their databases and i have rarely come across a book they don't have. You can place holds online and they will email you once ready. I pick this location as my home base because I frequent the CWE area often but you can pickup at any location. AND- they have broad selection of ebooks and audiobooks as well. All accessible through then libby app on your phone/ipad and even your kindle This location 3/5- parking is very inconvenient although they have a couple spots for pickup. This is also a loud location and often has disruptions so not the best place to study or settle down. Other 5/5- the staff is phenomenal, so kind. I have used their notary services several times and they are so helpful. Make sure to call ahead for the notary!

Lots of tables to set up your laptop and nice displays of books. A large area set aside for New Books, my personal favorite. The check-out folks were friendly and helpful. Can't go wrong!

Havin' fun isn't hard! St. Louis Public Library is a great place to check out books, DVDs and CDs…read more(what even are those?!), magazines, and they have some audiobook options as well - hashtag, trendy! If you are coming in quickly to pick something up, or if you come to sit and relax and work for a while, the environment is super calming and spacious. There are tables as well as comfy chairs and couches, making it welcome for everyone. The staff here is very helpful and have answers to any questions. There are always available spaces in the parking lot or nearby on the side streets. The Kingshighway location is super convenient to get to, and it's just a short walk away from Tower Grove Park, making for the perfect excuse to grab a new book and go sit outside for a while. The most recent time I came in, they had a featured section right in front of books for Women's History Month, which I love. They also have a rotating selection of "staff picks" as well as new releases and novels. I find myself wanting to branch out with something new every time I go in. The inventory is online and is updated often. There's an option to put items on hold and pick them up at your preferred location, making for a fast and easy in-and-out if you don't have time to walk around the library. Thanks to all the STLPL locations for being welcoming and awesome!
