Trying to study at home but ended up rolling back into bed or playing computer games, I had to…read moreadmit that studying at home may not be a good idea for me. To increases chances of doing some work, I decided to get out of my pajamas and go to the library. I'm not alone. The place is full of students during exam seasons. Make sure to get there by 9 am to get a seat, and stay there to keep it. There is a Whispers Cafe selling coffee and bagels if you want to take a tea break. Food is banned inside the library, although it seems common to see people subtly reaching in bags, getting a small pack of biscuits or energy bars and silently eating them... To me it's not just a place of collections of books and documents, but a place to help me build better habits and overcome procrastination. You are much less likely to get distracted by the internet in the library and work more productively. Great study environment, free printing and scanning services and couches to take a nap in, all in all it's a great library.

The teens have their own room in the library with plenty of good reading material. They also have a great movie room with a good selection of CD's, DVD's, Blu Ray's and games. You can use their computers to search for books or anything you are looking for. If the item is not in the library you can request it. Most request come in quickly. Don't forget to ask about Hoopla which is a free app that allows you access to ebooks, movies, music of a wide range.

There are so many books here you could stay all day and still want to come back tomorrow to keep looking. The upstairs is strictly a children library which is nice as sometimes kids have a harder time whispering! It also gives children a space they can go and really enjoy books with ohhs and ahhs. The Children's library also has puppets, trains, dress up clothes, etc. We live in Troy and while the Troy library is our normal stop, about once a month I will take my little one to Collinsville Memorial Library because it is just that great.

It's more than books!…read more The Fairview Heights library offers you to borrow books, Ebooks, music, movies and even video games! Depending on the popularity there maybe a waiting list. They also offer access to computers. Eight computers you can reserve and one express computer. The reserved ones can be used hours at a time while the express allows 30 minutes of access. A variety of classes for kids and adults all year round. I figured the money I spend on books I'm only going to read once is kinda a waste in my end. When I can borrow a book, read it and take it back. Now you do need to stay in the area to get a library card at this location. So proof of residency is required. The librarians are extremely helpful when it comes to locating certain items and they all always full of information. Like... How do you know all this?!? I especially like Ebooks. This way I can download them from my computer to my smartphone or tablet. No need to go to the library physically with the Ebooks; everything is done online! At the end of the day.... Of course I will be back, I have to return a book!
