I have been a Ferguson resident for 15 years. I must admit first that I love hometown libraries,…read moreand this was always a good one. I did drift away on my Kindle for awhile, but having returned this year, I have only good things to say about Ferg's efforts to make a library that serves readers and the community every day. Most people are accessing the internet and using services like fax and copying. We need that here! Some things can't be done on a smartphone, or without one. I was pleased as a reader to find a great new books section, with a wide variety of offerings beyond "best sellers". The library has decent stacks, and books rotate with a group of similar libraries in the region. Book clubs meet here, and though I don't participate now, I can see myself doing so someday...maybe soon. The staff is warm and helpful, even when the line for computers is long. It's a great environment to grow kids' learning, too. A+.

I just moved back into an area with a library about 2 years ago. Since then I have been taking full…read moreadvantage of this resource! I mainly use the app and do everything electronic (you can do everything from their app and app partners!). I love borrowing the ebooks and reading them on my kindle app. I also love that I can join the reading programs and do it all from my phone. When I do go into a branch it is usually to attend an event. Last night I attended the book club event at this location and it was great! There is an established group there and they were very inviting. A library staff member moderates the session and keeps the conversation going. They also provide some beverages and you can secure a copy of the next month's book club book just by attending the session. I highly recommend you check out your local branch. Events are free, reading spaces are set up for optimal enjoyment, staffs is always helpful and friendly and they have many resources to utilize!

I am such a fan of the library in general and this location has a special place in my heart. This…read moreis my main branch, it's right down my street and has easy access. It has a stop right in front of it for the bus, number 35. It's close to major access roads and you can see it from the street. I moved into the area after they remodeled it so, I can speak on any changes from that. Although, I do know that this version is fantastic. It's open and has a separated kids area. Vending machines, printers and copier and computers to check out. They have so many programs that are free that I think a lot of people tend to over look. Specifically they have a lot geared towards kids. My one issue with this branch is that some of the employees tend to come across as rude and the both of the children's librarian are short with patience. Outside of that, this is a great place to explore what the library has to offer whether it is to study, check out some books, dvds, or telescopes (yes, they offer that!) I enjoy going to the library multiple times a week.

The one place that we all hate to go to is the DVM. I got the notice in the mail that it was time…read moreto renew my drivers license and it said I could renew mine on line. I immediately got excited that it could be that easy. Then as I read further, it said if you need a "Real ID" you'd have to go to a local office. I typically go to the one in Bethalto, IL, but heard the one in Jerseyville was less busy, so I thought I'd give them a try. It was an easy drive, about the same distance if I had gone to the one in Bethalto. There was ample parking and once inside, there was plenty of chairs to sit and wait for your number to be called. Unfortunately I arrived at 11:55 AM and there was only one associate working the counter for drivers license. My number was 45 and the next number called was 40. It was a relief to me, it then became obvious that many of the others waiting had friends with them and they all weren't waiting. As time passed, more workers came back from lunch and the numbers started to be called more quickly. When my number was called, I mentioned to the clerk what my letter said and I told be I needed the Real ID. She informed me that since I already had one, I could have done it on-line. I showed her the letter and she rolled her eyes. Typical government, did not make it clear that it was only for those needing/wanting a Real ID for the first time. Any how, I got my picture taken, took my eye test, paid my $5 fee and got a new drivers license. I was in and out within 45 minutes. I could have been out sooner, but my clerk had to help another associate with an issue and that had me waiting about 5 minutes. She should have finished my transaction, then assisted her. When it's time to re-new again in five years, I'll be back. When I got home, the notice for my plates to renewed was in the mail. That I know I can do on-line, so I am good to go.
