Definitely a mixed bag here. Because I've seen so many negative reviews of this place, I feel…read morecompelled to review the positive - my relative has been here nearly 20 years. She requires an enormous amount of care and is a difficult personality. Other than a period when this place was run by a psycho named Tanya, the staff has learned how to treat my relative, is enormously patient with her, and has kept her healthy, alive, and well. Zero falls. Zero infections. They call me if they find even the tiniest scrape on her. This is NO small feat given how long she has been there, and through the pandemic no less. The downside is that there is very little communication and because turnover is so high just when I will get to know that one person handles one thing, that person is gone, and I've got no update as to whom I should now contact. Voice mails and emails normally go unanswered. There are supposed to be monthly case reviews however it's very sporadic and random. I'm also supposed to get quarterly statements about her money in her account but haven't received one in ages. I also don't think the residents are EVER taken anywhere. At all. The last trip I can remember was like 10 years ago. To a Walmart. But there are very nice grounds, and the rooms are large and comfortable. Like I say, mixed bag. Could probably do better and could definitely do worse.

I waited 20 minutes before I had to get up and walk on a foot that I had surgery on to the nurses station to get help! Second the IV machine has malfunctioned and I have been waiting 15 mins for IV meds which are time sensitive! Third, I have been here about 18 hours and NOT ONCE has anyone taken my vital signs (blood preesure, oxygen, or temperature) Fourth, I have been missing meds that are essential to my recovery, and I was rudely told that rehab facilities do not have in house pharmacies and I would have to wait for my meds. I have had back pain and have not slept at all since I have been here! I was told when I was released from the hospital that everything would be all set for me. Fifth, the tech that took my finger stick for my blood sugar DID NOT WEAR GLOVES and had DIRECT SKIN TO SKIN CONTACT with my BLOOD!!!!! I have been asked to be transfered out of this facility and they do have a bed at another facility nearby, but was rudely told that "it's not much better anywhere else." I did speak with the nurse in charge about my concerns, but I know it has fallen on deaf ears! DEFINITELY WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS FACILITY TO ANYONE!!!

Stay away. A few of the caregivers were good, but overall they were just there for a paycheck and…read morearen't qualified to care for anyone with health issues. Short staffed. Personal items disappeared.

It started off that I was in the wrong building but was guided professionally and kindly by staff members where I needed to be . In my appointment area I was met with wonderful reception and called by the doctor's assistant when my time had come and she was wonderful . The doctor I visited was just great , patient , kind and knowledgeable. After I was guided to Radiology where that department also was terrific, the reception there and x-ray technicians did a wonderful job helping me . I was delighted from my first step in the building with everyone that I met and was so pleased to see such kindness and professionalism throughout my time there . Thank you Windham Hospital

I admitted myself to this hospital after my foot was broken in 3 places, and though the nurses were…read morefantastic and I recieved great care, the hospital chose a surgeon who was not covered by my insurance, leaving me with thousands of dollars to pay out of pocket. I specifically chose this hospital because it was in-network and was repeatedly assured that my care would be covered. I had never been hospitalized or broken a bone and didn't know that the hospital would claim everything would be covered but then assign me a surgeon I'd need to pay for out of pocket. This is suprise billing and is illegal under Connecticut law. This is deeply unprofessional and for those who don't know the laws and how to fight this, it's extremely predatory. If you are in this situation, ask EVERY TIME a new doctor or specialist comes into your room if they are covered by your insurance before accepting ANY care from them. This should not be something you need to worry about when you're hospitalized and they know exactly what insurance you have and who is and isn't in network. Either they are very incompetent, or they are deliberately screwing patients over.

After…read morenine weeks, I can only say their service has declined markedly since we hired them in 2016 to look after our father in similar circumstances. Our biggest gripes are the awful scheduling services, and the very gruff, uncaring women who answer their phones. 90% of my phone calls to the central number leave me feeling the person answering the phone resents being bothered with my questions. Although the individual aides and nurses, have been good, our problem is the complete lack of any consistency in scheduling. Numerous times during these 2+ months, aide visits have been changed on the day of arrival minute. We never receive any advance information about nursing visits except for the planned days of visits. No expected windows of time for their visits are ever offered. We have complained about this for six weeks in a row, and the receptionists who answered the phones simply could not care less. The case manager nurse who took over for my mom several weeks ago has never been back. And with all the nurses, it is extremely burdensome when they never tell us an expected time of arrival, so we have to wait throughout the day wondering whether they will come at 9:00 am or 2:00 pm. It makes it impossible to leave home on these days to run errands, take a care-taking break, or anything. It is an unneeded stress placed on family that could be solved with simple professionalism of informing us of a time window for arrival. I agree with a few other reviewers here that while the care itself is not bad, the awful lack of communication is a problem that Masonicare neither cares about nor seems interested in solving. They seem clueless on what family caretakers are going through.
