I debated writing this review for a long time, but parents deserve to hear families' experiences…read morebefore choosing a school. Our family had a deep connection to St. Finbar. My children received their sacraments there, and my husband and I were married there. We were part of the parish community and trusted St. Finbar with our children and our faith. Unfortunately, our experience ended painfully. After I advocated for families and children and raised concerns I believed needed attention, Ms. Azar, the principal, told me I could no longer come onto the school campus. I was not trying to create conflict; I was trying to use my voice as a mother. Most upsettingly, I was told I could not pick up my own 3-year-old from the Early Fours program and would need a neighbor or friend to pick up my children. I felt my role as a parent was disregarded, and I ultimately had no choice but to remove my daughter after only a few months. We allowed our son to finish his final year at St. Finbar, but he experienced significant stress during this period. Children should not have to carry the emotional consequences of adult disagreements. I was also disappointed by how a private email to Ms. Azar was handled. I expected discretion and professionalism, but became concerned that its contents were discussed beyond the intended recipients. This significantly damaged my trust in the administration. Where Was the Pastoral Support? Because of our long relationship with the parish, we reached out for help. Father Francis was serving as pastor at the time. We also contacted the Archdiocese and Bishop Albert Bahhuth, hoping for guidance and support. We hoped Deacon Ryan, who married my husband and me at St. Finbar, would understand how personal this situation was and help us navigate it. From our perspective, we did not feel supported by the school leadership, parish, or broader Church community. That was heartbreaking. These people and institutions had been part of important moments in our family's life, yet when we needed pastoral support most, we did not feel we received it. St. Finbar's mission speaks of recognizing each person's dignity and providing an environment where students can grow spiritually, psychologically, socially, and physically. Our experience did not feel consistent with those values. Parents considering St. Finbar should read the current handbook carefully, especially policies concerning parents who raise concerns and circumstances under which a family may be asked to leave. Ask how disagreements and complaints are handled, how confidential communications are treated, how parent advocacy is received, and how adult conflicts are kept away from children. Speak with current and former families, not only the administration. I sincerely hope other families have had better experiences. Based on ours, I would choose another school and encourage parents to research all options thoroughly. We gave St. Finbar our trust, time, faith, and children. I will always regret feeling that I was punished for speaking up. Parents should not have to choose between advocating for their children and remaining in good standing with their school. Our children are now thriving in public school, and I am grateful we ultimately left. This was one of the most painful experiences our family has had with an institution we once trusted deeply. That is my experience, and I believe parents deserve to know it.

He just believes the first person that tells them something rather than addressing the core concerns that affect students. There is visual and audio evidence, yet it appears some students' concerns are not being fully acknowledged. For the past few years, my daughter has been experiencing some challenges, and I believe there may be misunderstandings. Additionally, there have been reports of students being advised not to socialize with each other, and there have been instances of phones being taken without parental consent. I feel that more open communication with parents would be beneficial, as there seems to be a lack of responsiveness to calls and emails. I am concerned about the overall environment and plan to discuss these issues with the archbishop to seek a constructive resolution. My hope is that steps will be taken to ensure that the school promotes a positive and respectful atmosphere, where students learn both academically and morally. Hopefully this helps other parents before bringing and spending their money.. I'm sure public school is a lot cheaper.

All of our kids love the campus and the teachers. The curriculum is challenging but the school is always finding new ways to make learning fun. VCS encourage family unity and there are many social events for families. We feel like VCS is our second home and we have made many friends there, friends that we actually like to hang out with outside of school. As a parent I am always worried if the curriculum isn't challenging enough so when other kids come to Village I ask the parents if their children find the work too easy or more challenging. I have yet to hear of one parent tell me it is easier than their previous school. The teachers and staff alike truly care about these kids and love God. It is evident the moment you set foot on campus. VCS promotes college at an early age and will guide your children through the entire process and hold their hand every step of the way. They focus on what the children like and what they want to study. VCS is a wonderful school and we are so thankful our children have the opportunity to attend.

St. Bernard is a great school!…read more I actually teach the after-school Enrichment program at St. Bernard through Carney Educational Services. This was my first year teaching the program at a private school and I loved it! I went to public school my whole life, but this school makes me want to put my future kids in private school some day! There was a brand new principal this year, Ms. Samaniego, and I must say that she is the most involved, open-minded and caring principal that I have ever met! Growing up, I don't remember seeing my principal around very often, but Ms. Samaniego involves herself with the students, parents and faculty every chance she gets. She will serve lunch to the kids, walk them out to their parents car after school, and even set up chairs in the hall! She's always running around, but it's so great to see a principal with so much energy and passion for the students and the school! As an after-school teacher, I only see what goes on after school, but I've met all of the teachers and they care about the success of the students. At Carney, we work hand-in-hand with the principal and faculty to make sure that the students gain the best education that they can and become unique and successful individuals. Even the parents AND grandparents are great! Everyone works together to create an exciting and supportive learning environment for these kids. I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to be apart of the school this year. Myself and the Carney Site Coordinator tried to be as involved as we could by going to their annual fashion show luncheon, Kindergarten and 8th grade graduation, volleyball games, and we even put on the first Carney-Val for Halloween. The energy at the school is contagious and you can't help but get involved. I highly recommend this school to anyone interested in private schools. It is definitely a school to look in to.
