The breeze and the water made it very comfortable even on the decks enjoying the sun. We boarded at the Jefferson Beach Marina in St. Claire Shores. The Ovation yacht is three levels of accommodations for 300 people. The event was perfect with a DJ on the top level with an open bar. The second level was the food, lounge areas, photo booth and open bar. The third level was the live band and more food. It was a beautiful day to enjoy the waterways and views of the boats plus the shorelines of both countries. A trip down the Detroit River is such a pretty sight. Belle Isle is a beautiful island located just off of the coast of Detroit and in the Detroit river. We took the time to drive around the island and took in the views of the water and parks and lakes that were inside the island. Once we arrived to the yacht club, the security guards were very friendly and approachable and we gave them our names and parked. All of the staff amazed me. The bartenders were fantastic, and even the servers were able to bring us additional food Even though we probably were not meant to have multiple bread baskets. The sunset over the water and the marina outside was just the icing on the cake to a beautiful venue. I would love to be a member here!

I looked them up, saw a time slot for 2:30pm, and made my way there. Parking was no issue as I parked for free a short walk away. There was a long line, but I was still able to get on. Cost was $20. Lower level had some snacks while upper level was open and had great views. Although it was a little hard to hear the tour guide speak as his voice came through the speakers a little muffled, I still got to learn a great deal about the history of the area and the various landmarks. In addition, it was so relaxing to just sit in my chair on the boat, kick back, and enjoy the awesome views all while it was in the 70s, not to mention take some excellent pictures. Boat ride was an hour which I felt was the perfect amount of time to be out. It was long enough that I could relax but short enough that I had enough time to do other things that day. Last paragraph here is just to say that I had this review rated at 4 stars due to the issues with the speakers, but I was still able to hear most of what the tour guide was saying, plus just being on the boat and taking in the views to me easily made it worth the $20 bucks spent.

Only recently constructed in 2004 during the first phase of the park's development, it stands at 63 feet tall and was designed as a scaled-down replica of the Tawas Point Lighthouse, a historic beacon on Lake Huron built in 1876. This lighthouse doesn't serve a traditional navigational role like its Great Lakes predecessors. Instead, it marks the entrance to the harbor and serves as a visual anchor for the park. The park itself was originally named Tri-Centennial State Park, commemorating the founding of Fort Detroit in 1701, and was later renamed in 2009 to honor Governor William G. Milliken, a champion of environmental stewardship. The lighthouse is not open for touring but the grounds around it are fully accessible from all angles. This is a great way to see the city - even as a hometown girl, I love cruising down the river this way. I definitely recommend the bigger boat with a full bar - you can get up and walk around and dance. It's worth it! You can bring your own beverages and snacks in coolers, and even though I was nervous about the late night ride, it was awesome! The lights on the boat are low enough that they really don't attract bugs, which was my concern. This would be great for families, friend groups, bachelor/bachelorette parties, any group that loves to have fun on the water. I highly recommend. The parking lot is a little bit interesting and smells of burning greeneries, and the port-a-potties are all that's available after 10pm, but even that part wasn't too bad. Fairly clean at the end of the night. Overall, a great time was had by us all.

I don't want to hear other people's children "playing" or whatever it is they do that's so loud. I don't want to vie for space on the sand bar. I don't want to hear other people's music, or see them dancing. You get the point, I'm not into the social scene that can be typical of Michigan lakes. You might be saying "why don't you get your own lake then you anti social jerk?". Well, that's basically what Orchard Lake is. It's amazing. There is literally like, no one on this lake 99% of the time. If you're lucky enough to be able to boat during the weekdays, you can often be the ONLY person on the water. You could totally lay out nude and no one would even be around to see you. The busy weekends don't really seem busy, and I have yet to feel crowded or annoyed. It's silent, peacful, serene and relaxing. Perfect. This is a VERY clean lake, and I believe it's the second or third largest in Oakland County. The water is clear and sparkling in most areas except for the very deepest parts. There is only seaweed in a few spots but these are not the chill areas and are easy to avoid. I love the variety of wildlife that can be seen on this lake including egrets, swallows, hawks, ducks, swans and lots of cute little fish that seem happy to hang out by the humans. The sandbar is spotless, probaly due to the "no drinking" poloicy that we, of course, follow to a T. LOL. The no drinking policy is most likely what keeps this lake fairly empty, and it works for me.
