The cruises really never venture out into unprotected waters, they simply afford a comfortable ride from downtown Mount Clemens to the mouth of the Clinton River, with a turn around in Lake St. Clair and return. They always have adequate seating, refreshments available, an occasional live band. The atmosphere aboard is light and lively, but in my case, that also depended on the group I was with. During periods of foul weather, they have nice side curtains what allow great views in an enclosed ship. For a pleasant outdoor activity, I couldn't recommend this company more.

For about an hour we could hardly keep up! It was awesome, it wasn't fishing -IT WAS CATCHING. Within an 1.5-2 hrs we had already maxed our daily limit! I've NEVER done that so quickly. We caught 3 HUGE mamas too that ALMOST Michigan master angler size (only 2 inches off ), that was the peak moment of the trip. My brother & I booked this charter for our Dad for Father's Day, since somehow he had NEVER been walleye fishing. Needless to say this was the best first walleye fishing experience we could have had! Prior to booking I hopped on a call with Captain Ben & he was awesome, answered all my questions & got us booked with ease. It was a beautiful Sunday, September 13th, 2026 when we booked a cruise on the Huron Lady II. What a perfect outing it was. You had to get there early to get on the top deck but we were grateful to be on the bottom deck. I didn't care because as soon as we could roam around I went out on the deck and enjoyed the beautiful gentle wind and sunshine. The boat doesn't go too fast but it also isn't a slow boat either. The Captain tells you all kinds of interesting facts about Canada and the USA as you cruise 45 minutes south on the St. Clair River, then 45 minutes North where they take you briefly into Lake Port Huron...boy do you know the difference, once you hit that mammoth lake! The ride was smooth and very enjoyable. The seats were comfortable and there is plenty of space to roam around, even in a fully loaded boat such as was our experience. The boat was very clean. I used the restroom and it too was spacious enough and very clean. The crew was pleasant, efficient and knowledgeable. I took this cruise several years back and it was called the Huron Lady, it was a different boat and it was docked closer to town. So, if you have taken this cruise before and it has been 6 or so years since you took it be aware that the location has changed.

This property is housed in the 1925 Metropolitan Building, a stunning Neo-Gothic "Jeweler's Building" that sat vacant for nearly 40 years. Seeing it restored to its former glory rather than being demolished is a win for the city.  The entrance lobby and the grand stairway to the second floor are phenomenal--the restoration team clearly put a lot of heart into preserving the marble and the ornate details. Because the hotel has to conform to the original historic footprint, the rooms are unique and oddly shaped. It was a refreshing change of pace to stay somewhere that broke out of the usual "cookie-cutter" hotel mold. My room featured a long internal hallway, a small kitchenette, and enough windows to provide a fantastic view of the Detroit skyline.  Check-in was seamless, and the staff were excellent throughout my stay. I initially considered subtracting a star because my room lacked a steamer, but the breakfast service won me back. The made-to-order omelets and the yogurt granola station were top-notch, and that high-quality start to the day made up for any minor room omissions. If you appreciate architecture with a history and a bit of character, this is definitely the place to stay in Detroit.

The hotel offers a complimentary breakfast on their mezzanine. Depending on where your room is, and what floor you are on, nighttime activity in the. city, like any major city can be loud until after midnight. What this hotel offers in their rooms are sound machines, which absolutely make a difference. Up until this time we had never need to use it, but the city was pretty lively on Friday night and we could hear it all. As soon as we turned on the sound machine it really helped to drown out the noise. A good venue if you're looking for accommodation's.
